I've been feeling really uncomfortable with gaining weight recently. During 1st tri I fluctuated between 1 and 4 lbs and now I believe I've gained a solid 6. I've had a lot of body image issues since gaining about 20 lbs in grad school that I could never seem to get off, so I'm finding it hard to not be in that mindset. I'm always pretty hard on myself anyway so that doesn't help. The rational part of my brain is saying "You're pregnant, you idiot! This happens!" But most of my clothes are starting to not fit well and I think that's been a trigger for my previous body image issues. I know, I feel so stupid and guilty for stressing over such a vain issue.
Also, I've been intentionally avoiding the loss and need T&Ps threads and I feel so guilty about it. My PgAL brain seems to be getting worse the further along I get, like I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop. I do say a little prayer for all of those ladies, but I feel bad for not openly showing support.
TL;DR: Basically, I'm just a giant jar of guilt these days.
I've been having a difficult time with my weight gain, as well, but I've tried turning lemons into lemonade. DH could really use some extra cash what with the baby coming, so I've taken everything out of my closet that I don't fit in to anymore (unless something small like 5 lbs would do the trick) and am taking them to consignment shops in order to try to recoup some cash.
I still am having trouble adjusting to the fact that my body is getting less "ideal" by the minute (the 15 lbs I've gained since getting married haven't helped either...), but being proactive about it has made me feel a lot better!
Edited to add: I'm not getting rid of clothes that don't fit because of pregnancy, to be clear, just things that I've been keeping "just in case I shed pounds and start to look how I did 2 years ago..." etc. I'm basically trying to be happy with where I am now and stop holding on to these items that make me feel bad because they remind me of where I used to be.
@ashtog and @amc1087 - moms can be terrible with weight issues. Good for both of you for stating how you feel! My mom is very slim and every year gives me clothes for Christmas in her size (2 or 4) and then asks me to try them on in front of everyone. When I come out looking like a stuffed sausage with everything unbuttoned she says, well I tried it on and it fit me perfectly! Grrrrrr.
@emmilally - That would make me MURDEROUS. You are clearly a better / more even-keeled person than I!
We live on a small horse farm and have an outside-only cat that we call Tigger (a.k.a. pest control). He has a little "kitty condo" that my husband built him on the side of our screened-in porch and we put a light bulb in it when it gets super cold.
Here's my confession: I totally judge people with inside cats that let them crawl all over their counters and dinner table. VOM!
I also think it's disgusting when people let their animals sleep in bed with them. They are cute, but FFS people--they are animals! I guess I just have a different perspective since I've seen my dogs run all over the farm and eat dead things and roll in poop.

My dog sleeps in bed, but we wipe her butt with baby wipes and clean her feet off every time she comes in from outside. I don't know how much that helps, but it makes me feel better. The scary thing is, she usually has remnants on her butt. Now I feel super gross for the years I didn't do that and let her get in bed or sit on the couch.
Whenever I hear about someone dying I want to know details. At the same time I feel horrible about it, but I'm just so curious. I just heard of a story where a mother who was 4.5 months pregnant became brain-dead and they took her off the ventilator, and I really want to know why didn't they keep her alive until the baby could be born? Was saving the baby not possible? Did the baby die due to whatever caused her to be brain dead? Of course I NEVER ask these questions and instead offer my condolences, but it's what I'm thinking about.
I think you're talking about the woman in Texas from several months back, maybe a year ago. Anyways, if it's the same one she somehow fell unconscious which led to her being brain dead. It was unknown how long she went with out breathing, but it led to severe problems for her baby. She also had a DNR and the fact that she was hooked up to a machine in the first place was against the law. I think it was ultimately the husband that finally was able to give her and her poor baby some peace when her rights were finally held up in court. I'm sure there will always be special circumstances, especially when a pregnant woman is involved, but I'm a firm believer in individual rights and was glad her DNR held up in court. Not sure what sort of life the baby could've had if she was left on the machine...
There was recently a similar situation in Ireland. The family's wishes were to take the woman off the ventilator and they had to go to court about it because the state wanted to keep her on the ventilator to save the baby. The family eventually won the right to fulfill their (and apparently her) wishes due to the fact that the doctors said that the woman had her accident too early in the pregnancy for the baby to survive outside the womb, even with a lot of intervention.
I have so much post nasal drip from my cold that my stomach has constantly gurgled all day long. It began to annoy me so I'm just pretending that it's baby flutters and not copious amounts of snot in my stomach floating around. Clearly, being home on holiday break with a cold has driven me to the looney bin.
I don't know if this counts as a FFFC but it's definitely kind of gross, and I wouldn't tell most people about it. LOL.
I was taking my gummy vitamins this morning and I sneezed right as I started to swallow one. A piece of it apparently somehow went up and into my nose. I had to blow my nose to get it out. It just happened to be yellow, and that helped up the gross factor when it came out.
That was interesting...
That happened to me once with a twizzler. It was honestly so bizarre.
Now I just want twizzlers.
I live down the road from one of the twizzlers factories, and if it's a warm day I can smell fresh twizzlers at work or at home.

I am the same way. The cat knows he is not allowed on the counters (although I am more concerned about the shedding fur factor than dirt) and the dog is never in bed with us. The cat is allowed to snuggle on the bed with us sometimes though, because he never goes outside and is about as clean as, if not cleaner than, the rest of our house.
@ashslatts524 I pretty much do. Twizzlers factory in town, Hershey factory not far away. Oh and the Kellogs factory is here too, so you smell cornflakes pretty often.
@cookiesandwine sometimes people that work at Twizzlers will come into my work and give us so many packages of the freshest Twizzlers ever. I don't think I can buy them in the stores anymore because they are just nowhere near as good as they are fresh!!
I am 13 weeks 2 days and I have a tiny little bump. Yesterday I went to my aunt's house for their annual new years day dinner and too many people tried to touch my belly, even people I've only met once before. It really drives me crazy. Don't touch my belly when I don't have anything to really show! I really wanted to slap their hands away

I was with some family friends yesterday and having a conversation between me, my friend, her mom, and my mom. My friend has a 7 month old. My mom asked how disciplining will go in the future at Grandma's house. For example, if both grandma and mom are at grandma's house with the toddler, will grandma be able to discipline the way she wants to? Does that make sense? I would think that regardless, the grandma should discipline however the parents are, but I don't know, something irked me about my mom (or maybe more specifically, DH's mom) potentially popping my kid's hand or mouth when they do something wrong. How has this been handled in your family?

Grandparents should follow parents requests as to how to raise their children. The grandparents had their chance, now it's the parents chance to raise their kids as they wish.
Does it always work like this? Unfortunately no.
My parents tend to be too lenient on my kids and they say they are grandparents so it's ok. Which for the most part, I agree with. But when I am at their house with my kids, I expect rules to be followed and I handle the discipline. When they are watching the girls and I am not around, they can bend the rules a little. Obviously within reason, I mean more like they get a cookie after lunch even if they didn't eat their lunch, but rules like holding hands in a parking lot still better be upheld.
On the other hand, my MIL is very strict and believes in spanking/popping a kid, which we do not do. She doesn't watch our kids very often because she lives further away. But so far she has honored our request not to spank (we have had multiple discussions about spanking, so she knows our view on the subject). If we find out she doesn't at some point, it's not going to be a good day.
So it's a give and take. Give a little on the things that don't really matter, like cookies after lunch. But make sure the grandparents know what will and won't be tolerate (like popping a child as a form of discipline).
