Babymoon Ideas?

Re: Babymoon Ideas?

  • Has anyone been to the Dominican Republic? I see what I think is a good deal on groupon getaways.

I went to Santiago several years ago. Even though it was a mission trip and we didn't get to do tons of real vacationing, it was incredibly beautiful and the resorts we passed were stunning!!! I'd love to go back for a real vacation. :)
I appreciate the review! I actually just came back on here to update that the airfare alone is our whole budget....so maybe thinking Alabama or Florida now, haha quite the difference!

Ladies- no cruise will take you on board. No pregnant women allowed lol. I really hope to convince my DH for a babymoon. He has a conference to attend in San Fran in March. Hopefully he won't mind extending the stay and spending a few days there with me. :-)
You can still cruise. I have a cruise planned for March at 23 weeks and they allow you under 26 weeks. Obviously will need to be sure to drink bottled water and watch what we eat because we will be going to Mexico.
To anyone else who wants to cruise, be sure to check with the cruiseline. I know Carnival will allow you to sail as long as you are less than 24 weeks by the end of the cruise. If we could, this is the route we would take.

My job has conveniently decided that I've used all my vacation days (I didn't), thanks to their shady accounting and the fact it is a small business and they can do what they want (did I mention I'm quitting my job?). Even if I took off as unpaid leave, DH wants to save his PTO for when the baby comes. So no big trips in the cards- 2 days tops. At the moment I'm just looking forward to spending my days off floating around my pool with a big ol' belly.
  • We are going to Vegas baby in Feb!

We are too! Also in Feb. DH loves to play poker and I actually booked this trip a couple of weeks before we got our BFP. It was supposed to be a surprise 35th bday present to him. It's still a surprise, but now it will serve double duty as our babymoon.

Last night, we also discussed a mini "bucket list" of things we want to do together before LO's arrival. We live super close to NYC and want to go to a live taping of SNL, The Tonight Show, and a comedy club. Unfortunately, we don't have any support nearby so we need to get as many date nights as possible in.

We're backpackers and plan on going on a canoe trip (probably 2-3 nights) in April of May. Usually we hike instead of paddle and plan crazy mileage on rugged trails, so it will be nice to have an easier trip just sitting in a canoe.

We'll be taking a cruise in February to the Bahamas. Carnival allows pregnant passengers who will be less than 24 weeks at departure. I just had to be signed off by my physician and will be required to carry my paperwork with me while onboard.

Cruises are a great cost effective babymoon option and every one I researched allowed pregnant mommies to be before a certain point, which is perfect seeing as our comfortable times to travel are in the second trimester.
  • I also just got back from New Orleans where I got to celebrate NYE and watch my Buckeyes defeat the number 1 seed Alabama. GO BUCKS!!!!!
  • We are only about 5-6 hours away from some of our favorite Florida gulf coast beaches. We will probably take a trip on my spring break. We just need to find a condo.

We went to Punta Cana on our honeymoon and loved it!!! Beaches were so beautiful! We found it to be the most bang for your buck. We stayed at the Majestic Elegance and would highly recommend it

  • @Gw3nny‌ @cwallacego‌ So nice to see fellow Georgians on here!!

Im trying to get down to Miami in Feb before SO goes out of town on business for several weeks. The one positive thing about his long work trips are the flyer miles and hotel points we get to use later for fun trips :) Other than that we have to make a road trip up to Pa/NJ/Ny/MA in late April early May to see my family and his family for a baby shower, so that will be a lot of one on one time exploring. He's never been to NYC!
  • we are going to San Antonio as a pre planned trip with the whole entire family! My uncle is getting married there but I think we're going to take some extra days around the wedding since neither of us have been to San Antonio. I'm worried that they won't let me fly since I'll be 32 weeks and I'm cutting it a little close :-). But I think it would be a really nice break.

  • We will probably just do a staycation right here. We live in Orlando. I definitely want to go to Disney World. H has only ever been to Magic Kingdom so I'm thinking we'll do Animal Kingdom and Epcot. Lucky for me he hates roller coasters so I don't have to feel bad about keeping him off the thrill rides!

Beauty and the Beast (the play) is also coming to our local performing arts center so we will most likely see that. Depending on how finances look, we might also get a two park pass to Universal so he can see the new Harry Potter park and ride the Hogwarts Express (which I already did with my sister and brother and it was awesome!)

  • I have to present at a week long conference in Palm Springs CA in May and hubby doesn't want me to go alone (even though I'll be at the conference twelve hours a day, boo). Plus we're spending a week to go back home for a shower. So all of our time off is "wasted". Maybe a weekend in NOLA? We're only a five hour drive away...
  • @vineheart137‌ We are thinking about doing a Disney babymoon too- which I never would have imagined a year ago. I always thought Disney was a once-a-childhood thing and thought people who went without kids were crazy, but we went for a short trip with DS last summer and I think I'm a Disney-convert. If we go, we'll do Epcot and some of the nicer restaurants/shows that we wouldn't be able to do with kids. DH and I would love to go to NYC for a long kid-free weekend, but I want to save that until after pregnancy and breast feeding because I want to be able to drink and not worry about pumping/storing milk.

  • We have been looking at places with warm weather and good food. My last pregnancy we did LA and OC Maryland. This time I'm thinking New Orleans, we'll see
  • DH and I were talking about a babymoon this morning. I'm hoping for at least 2 nights somewhere, but I'm not sure where yet. I would love to go somewhere warm, but that's not happening! So maybe Scotland, Switzerland, or the UK. I'm leaning toward maybe a spa in Switzerland!
