April 2015 Moms

Resolutions?

I know it's kind of trite, but I'm wondering if any of you mommas have made resolutions for 2015.  Mine are to drink more water and to stop cussing so much because at this rate I'm afraid my kid's first word will be "fuck".  What are yours?

Let go of the past and look toward the future.

Edit: because I stink at texting

@mrsslushie‌ YouTube is a great tool. I've been using my moms necci or something and that's a pain finding things for that specific machine but I utilize YouTube for a lot of crafting tutorials.

  • I'm wanting to get the GD under control--just diagnosed yesterday. And I want to tighten up our budget a little more. Maybe a few other trivial things like make the bed daily. It's DH's pet peeve that I don't do it. And I want to start adding to our thankful jar again. It kinda went to shit early this year.

  • Mine has to do with self improvement. I'm very critical of myself so trying to become more positive with me
  • Drink more water, eat cleaner, yoga, and workout! Seriously though it's got to happen...I had lost so much weight finally then I got pregnant again and this weight has come back. I'm feeling huge again I can see it everywhere on me...I'm due to get married in the next year so I really want to get back to where I was!
  • I have one thing I want to do this year and that is finish my certificate 3 before I go on maternity , at this rate it's not happening
  • I want to learn to use my sewing machine. And make stuff with it.

  • Save more money and start to stuck up for myself and not let people walk all over me !
  • How are goals and resolutions different?

I'm resolving (or my goals are) to eat cleaner, drink more water, and to try to move more.

For the last 2 months I have been sick pretty much constantly and before that had broken toes and I can't stand how unhealthy and out of shape I've become.
  • They probably are the same. It's more the "January 1st, I'll stop being a jerk. So I'm going to be a jerk for the rest of the year." No. Just stop being a jerk now. Sub in whatever you want for jerk. Change what you want now. I don't know. I hate New Year Resolutions. They are just cliché.
  • Resolutions to me are more open ended. Goals are more concrete. Like by June I want the Visa card paid off vs before next year I plan on having a salad. I know January is the start of a new year so that's when people set out to resolve things but most overload themselves and it's overwhelming and most give up. So I kinda set goals randomly through the year. Like paying off a credit card or something.

  • Goals for next year: 1) Have healthy baby 2) breast feed 3) Do my best to parent 2 kiddos 4) Eat clean (paleo?)

Bonuses: Hike Rim to Rim Grand Canyon hike in October and train for January 2016 Disney Marathon.
  • I'm not gonna make any resolutions for the entire year because I never keep them since it's such a hard thing to do to keep something going for an entire year. Instead I have small goals, like get another semester of college done (with a baby around that will be even more of an accomplishment), or to stop eating processed foods instead of saying I'm going to eat super healthy all year. It's the little things!
  • i plan n will try to become a very good mother for my baby
  • I am more in the goals camp versus resolutions. Mine for this year are to run my first half marathon in the fall, learn to crochet ( I recently just started over Christmas), and breastfeed longer than I did the first time. I guess for a resolution, I would like to speak up for myself more and ask for help when I need it. I tend not to want to bother people or I get nervous if I have to contact strangers about things. It is not really rational but I still put off and avoid stuff like that.

  • No resolutions here, more just general goals I'm staying mindful of. Be a decent/good person (cc includes treating myself well). Try my best to be a good teammate to my husband; good parent; and (longer term) good role model to our child. Work hard to ensure the group I manage at work is well positioned to handle things while I'm out on leave (which mostly is just a tactic for accomplishing point 1 (be decent....)).

If I can do those things, anything above and beyond is just icing.

  • My goal for the next 3 months is to destress as much as possible. My H's goal for me is to organize my shit. We'll see how that one goes...
  • I set yearly goals and write them down with my husband in our journal we share. We each do a personal one or two and do a business one and do a couple one. I like to see what I cab get accomplished. One from last year was to keep trying at becoming pregnant without being discouraged and that was a definite success. We always try to keep them within reason and never the cliche ones.

    I don't make resolutions, I make to-do lists instead.

    1) have healthy baby, shower her with snuggles
    2) finish baby's room, magically find money to redo bathroom
    3) eat more chocolate, drink more wine
    4) never pass by an opportunity to take a nap, no guilt allowed
    5) find a daycare that feels right, magically find money to afford it
    6) expand repertoire of quick dinners I can prepare in under 30 minutes
    7) continue doing yoga, on whatever schedule feels right.

I like those resolutions. They are all very doable. Well...except for the magic but maybe...
