@nah82, I'm so sorry it was a rough night. I hope that after your divorce is final that things will be better. A friend of mine went through this in 2014 (without a new baby) and she's feeling much better now just being free of him for the most part.
We made the decision in September/October to keep the names we like, and are considering a secret. We didn't even discuss the name that we have now until November at some point.
Prior to that every time we'd think of a name he'd call his aunt and mom to "get their opinion. " I'm thinking that's what he did when he let them know the name that we have was on the table for a potential name.
Anyway- it just sucks because I feel like his whole family must know the name now, and it takes the excitement out of sharing the name once he arrives. Not only that, I don't want his one aunt to think she had any influence in the name, and she named him.
Anyway- another random. I'm so freaking tired. Went to bed around 9 pm. Was sleeping so glorious, then was woken up at 12 by fireworks and neighbors cheering ringing in the new year. I didn't get back to sleep until around 230 or 3 am. Just to be woken up by a text by my son's dad at 630 am. Apparently the flight I booked charges an additional $160 fee for unaccompanied minor! He's 5 months from being 15! All other Airlines are $50 fee until the age of 12! When I booked his flight online NOTHING was mentioned about having to pay the free. So now my cheap ticket $150 turned into a $310 ticket, one way, for 2 hours, non stop! He flew international alone at the age of 8 and 9 (Germany to Arizona) for $100 unaccompanied fee. So dumb! !! To top it all off, got a letter in the mail yesterday saying we owe $120 for a maintenance request I had done on our rental back in early November. For replacement light bulbs, 4 AA batteries to be changed, and the carpet tac strip to be nailed back in since we were tripping on the loose carpet and stepping on the nails! ~X(
It's 7 hours into the new year, and things are going fabulous! (Sarcasm)
Well, my bag is maybe 3/4 packed! I'll finish it today. But it feels good I'll at least have clothes with me if I go into labor. Between the headaches I'm having now, my bp is elevated, and my legs swelling I'm expecting a 24hr urine collection for the weekend. Since I won't be seeing my own OB tomorrow I doubt I'll be able to talk over induction options. I'm pretty much expecting that I won't be pregnant more than 2 more weeks anyway and that's pretty liberating!!
I also got all the little neural baby clothes washed and folded yesterday. I love that part of getting prepared for baby. I'm going to talk to hubby about when we should install the car seat. (It gets in the way for our older 2 when they have to get out of our van for school so we haven't been in a rush to do it, and it's a convertible seat so it's big).
Ahh, to top everything else off, I went to put on deodorant this morning getting dressed and that last little chunk broke off and split in half. I was sure I had a spare in the bathroom cupboard, nope!
I forgot to add, there were about 15 mins last night that I thought my baby would punch right through the sac and we'd be having a New Year baby! I seriously felt something punching WAY past my cervix. I'll find out tomorrow if that could have even been possible. I'm sure everything down there is just really flexible and pliable so it probably just felt that way. I've never been dilated more than a fingertip at 36 weeks before, even though I'll be 37w 2 days after my appt.
Morning ladies!! So the wedding last night was actually pretty fun! And I liked how the stylist did my hair, total plus bc normally I hate getting my hair done. Baby girl seemed off all night and then as the ball dropped and everyone was kissing my daughter threw up all over my mom and herself, then she was smiley and happy- I felt so bad bc clearly she was feeling sick all night so we high tailed it outta there and then I was up all night, just couldn't sleep. Felt bad for my mom- she was covered and stunk lol! Here's some pics from our night- making the omg face we are having another baby this year! And then one of baby girl sleeping while everyone danced
DH is annoying me today. He's whining and crying about his neck and back hurting him. Well, maybe you shouldn't have drank so much last night dude. I have no sympathy and I don't feel bad about it either. I know that sounds super bitchy but damn. Every ache and pain with him and he's dying. Meanwhile, I have a bowling ball trying to tunnel it's way out of my vagina and I have to carry on as usual. Suck it up.
@papapalie Good luck tonight and tomorrow! Hope today goes by quickly and sending T&P for a quick and uneventful induction! Can't wait to see the squish!
@nah82 I'm sorry your nye was so crappy (((hugs)))). Here's to a new year and new possibilities!
We had a pretty uneventful nye. DH and I ran errands in the afternoon and then he spent the evening setting up our digital antenna the way he wants it. I snuggled with the dogs and watched nye specials. DH fell asleep before midnight so I kissed my dog at midnight.
Now I'm snuggling on the couch with the dogs watching the Rose Parade. Don't have too many plans for today. DH is working on projects and I will sign us up for Netflix.
Managed to stay up until ~12:01 for my NYE kiss. Had to take two naps (one from 9-10pm) but was worth it. I actually slept ~ 8 hours with only pee interruptions. Now faced with company coming today for NY pork and sauerkraut. So much to do!
One more coat of paint to go on a few pieces of the bed, and then I'm done!
DS has these toy plastic pliers, and last night he figured out how to use them and went around the house clipping pieces of greenery and dragging them around. So I need to sweep today, but I'm going to rest for 30 minutes first.
I'm a grown woman, and I'm sobbing over black eyed peas. Pregnancy hormones are turning me into a freaking lunatic.
Hey. Black Eyed peas are important. And I say that with a straight face and not an ounce of sarcasm. I'm putting mine in the crock pot right now, and it's a serious deal. I'd probably cry over them, too, if someone ruined them with the wrong flavoring. everyone knows you do salt pork or bacon.
@crazymonkeybear Right before I fell asleep last night, I said to DH, "oh great, this baby just cost us more money because now we have to pay the hospital"
Nobody in my house eats the 'right' food. I'm pretty sure it would be traumatic to try and force black eyed peas or collared greens down DS's throat, and DH is just broken. It's looking like New Years pizza
My best friend just had her baby! Last time I was pregnant with a friend she went into labor two days before me we both had our babies on July 4th- so I feel like it's still possible to have a New Years baby for me (except he'd be really early and my dd was due date, so not very likely!) her and I are 12 days apart so it's exciting that our sons will share the same birth month too!
I seriously HATE having baby name discussions with family. Last Sunday I was peacefully watching the Seahawks game when everyone was throwing out new name ideas for about an hour. It was totally annoying!! DH and I are 95% decided on our baby boy's name. I don't need new suggestions right now!
Last night was fun! We celebrated NYE by going bowling with family and friends. DS learned to bowl for the 1st time and he stayed up way past his bedtime! It was a blast!
@CrazyMonkeyBear and @peggels24, I'm insanely lucky. Whenever we've planned our pregnancies, we've always avoided Dec-Feb because of deductibles. We've never had a baby with this insurance and this was our first and only woopsie baby. Our year starts over every May on our insurance now (that we've only had for 3 years)!
Happy New Year everyone! Hope everybody enjoyed 2014, I know 2015 will be full of excitement and special moments. OH! and babies! I
had a strawberrita and was lightly buzzed from that tiny little can!
Guess that's what happens when you don't drink for 10+ months lol!
Hope the day gets better for you ladies having a not so great day. I'm going to enjoy my 2nd..3rd? cup of coffee and avoid the nasty weather outside.
I'm just sitting at work not doing any real work. It's exhausting.
I've decided to try to walk this baby out. Tuesday I walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes. Today, I did 41 minutes. I'm actually ridiculously proud of that little accomplishment.
@BabyStandish - pass along any newborn tips. I'm freaking the fuck out over here.
I just called my mom to see if she made black eyed peas this year. SHE DIDN'T! I might legitimately cry.
When it's time for me to start trying to get this baby out I'm going to walk at Costco for a couple hours. I get contractions when I'm there every.single.time
I think I broke my husband. He has been in grumpy panic mode since last night. I started losing my mucus plug and I told him. He asked what that meant and I said it could mean labor in a day or so could be weeks. Just means I'm dilating. But it could regenerate. He flipped out. It hit him hard that we are all but out of time and this baby is coming.
So now he has in a bad mood and stressing about everything that still has to be done. Sorry dear I have been telling you. Men!

Today is the first time I've ever learned there are "right" foods to eat on New Year's Day.
Apparently it has to do with good luck? Now I'm curious what they are and where. It seems black eyed peas farther south and pork and sauerkraut farther north?
I just had a slice of chocolate cake. The container the cake came in (brought over by a friend) says "Satisfaction guaranteed."
That's not really a high standard when you're chocolate cake and I'm a pregnant woman... hahaha.
What if you aren't satisfied? Do you get more cake? Just sayin'...
hahahahaha. Well, I wouldn't have this time around... I ate like half of it. The other half has been over the past 2 days. So it's gone now. Maybe that means their end of the promise is broken? hahaha.

I live in the South, and:
black-eyed peas = coins ($) collard greens = cash ($) cornbread = gold ham = Some people say "saltiness" (like salt of the earth) or "resourcefulness" (since pigs forage for food), but I think it's mainly just for flavor
But I don't really love those things and don't feel like going to the store, so I think we'll have chicken pot pie for dinner. Hopefully this will be a lucky enough year for us even if we eat the wrong thing for NY dinner!
I have come to terms with the fact that I can't have spicy foods anymore. A few days ago jalapeno poppers gave me terrible gas and last night buffalo wings gave me heartburn and diarrhea. Boo.
We had some friends over and ate pizza, my family usually does the black eyed peas and collard greens but I was not about to cook anything! I felt pretty good at work yesterday but today not so hot. I've been in a good deal of pain/discomfort and am not looking forward to work tomorrow .
DH just left to return a redbox movie and took DD because she LOVES going anywhere in the car. She stood at the door and said "bye bye" excitedly for like 5 minutes before they actually left. He said he'd drive her around for a bit since the redbox is only a mile from home. I'm enjoying a few minutes of having the house to myself!
@Edvent, my kids are the same way. Everyday DS asks if we are going somewhere. If I say yes then he's running around the house saying " We're going somewhere, we're going somewhere."
