Re: ~~January Precious Penguins~~ December 29th

  • @tweetyknicks‌ I use to have the same anxiety as you. By the time my dad was my age he needed both his knees replaced and his feet and hands were starting to cause problems.
    I hope your mom is alright.

  • @lemonliz I love your October 2015 thoughts! This is a huge group... I had my baseline yesterday and we are moving forward faster than I expected! I took my last bcp yesterday and start stims Saturday. Tentative retrieval on 1/15. I met dh at a dealership yesterday after work to look at leases, and since I came in a few minutes late, the sales associate had already gotten started.. One of the first thing she said after meeting me was 'you don't have kids so no need for a car seat in the back!' I have no words. It's ok... I'm getting over it... Right now. :) Good luck to everyone this week and happy new year!

  • Hi Penguins! I am late to this check-in and I missed the last one, between the holidays and work work work I have been super busy. I have worked 6 of the last 7 days including Christmas and I am cranky! 1 more day then I have 4 off though so I'm hanging in there.

    I take my last BCP on the 4th and go for my baseline on the 8th, and I got all my meds in the mail today. Whoa, this just got real. I am also having lots of IVF anxiety :( I've been waking up at 3 AM to worry about things I have absolutely no control over, so that's been fun.

    ***pregnancies mentioned*** I am very irritated with my workplace right now - I work in healthcare with mostly women of childbearing age and the pregnancy announcements and showers and baby bumps and baby pictures are really getting to me lately. X( I need a break from the constant easy procreating!

    QOTD: We are going to some friends' house for a small get-together. I just hope I can stay up until midnight, lol. Good riddance 2014... WORST YEAR EVER!

  • @tweetyknicks‌ I was really sick for along time with a lot of the things that are wrong with my father (luckily no arthritis) so it was 2 things that have helped me 1) a massive change in diet 2) the fact that if I am going to end up like most of my dad's family there isn't shit I can do so I am going to be happy while I have my health. I have no idea if I will get sick again, since no one ever figured out what was wrong with me, so I am going to hope for the best.
    Sounds stupid I know but constantly thinking about how ill i was and how know one will ever know why is the worst of it.

  • @shortstuff BCPs are EVIL! I can't say that enough. :-P

    @Tweetyknicks- Yes, they are! I took them for years before I knew that it was just a big old joke on me!! After getting off them, I swore I'd never take them again. But it was less than 6 weeks and for SUCH a good reason! I still find it so ironic though that an IVF cycle starts with BCPs! lol

  • Hi there! I'm just chugging along here on estradiol and Tylenol. I couldn't believe how much cheaper estradiol was at Costco than thru Walgreens specialty (9.99 for 90 vs. 34.20 for 60). Not a huge difference, but you know, it adds up!

    As for us being a big group, I remember someone saying that they thought January was a good time to cycle because the labs would have just been cleaned/inspected, so I've been telling myself that ever since. :).

    @tweetyknicks‌, thanks for letting me know I wasn't the only one getting dizzy on meds. I realized I forgot to respond. Totally unnerving, and thankfully hasn't happened again!

    I thought I'd posted this in the am...obviously didn't happen. I'm going to try to catch up!

    @BootsOrHearts‌ and @lilycakes78‌ good luck in February! I'm partial to that month...it's my birthday. :)
    @tweetyknicks‌ I'm so thrilled by the price of meds for FET I can't even tell you. I'm using endometrin instead of pio, so my total is about twice yours, but its 10% of what we paid last time for meds. Craziness.

    I'm taking azithromycin if it's like my fresh cycle it'll be the 5 days before transfer.

    @RG1979‌ yay!!!

    QOTD: glad to hear we're not the only party animals here. We have no plans. Probably get some good food? Yep, we're lame this year.
    Yup.
  • @bluejell0 - Looks like we are on the same schedule, nice to know!

    I can't wait to get off these BCPs, they are screwing my bra situation all up and it just seems wrong to be taking them after trying to get pregnant for so long! 1/4 can't get here soon enough!

    QOTD: DH and  I are going out to dinner with a group of friends and I'm planning on being in my pajamas by the time the ball drops! I love that we are all such "party animals" :)

    Married 6/2012. TTC Since 10/2012. Unexplained Infertility. No BFPs. First RE Visit 10/2013. 2 cycles on Clomid. IUI 2/2014 - BFN. IVF #1 - January 2015

  • @tweetyknicks I have the same worries with my mom. I'll be turning 30 next year and she'll be 52. The last couple of year she's been having strange almost seizure-like events that seem to be associated with her beginning menopause. I worry about her, and also worry that maybe it'll happen to me when I'm her age. There's already soo much for all of us to worry about, IF just adds to the big pile. Hugz!!
    *** If you want to know where I (and soo many others) have gone, click here ***
  • Still on Lupron and BCPs. I've been spotting for like a month on this BCP and its really frustrating! Qotd: we have DS so we are going to lame and stay home with him. Probably watch a movie and drink some wine. I do have my grapes and red panties ready, though!

  • Sewfie - That makes me feel better that you haven't really had any side effects either. I was starting to worry I wasn't getting enough. But maybe we're just lucky.

    Now I'm just waiting on my period (should be next week) and we can get everything rolling.

    QOTD: DH and I will most likely be at our neighbors just hanging out and being social for once.
  • @sweetshellieh That's scary. Parents are not allowed to be sick.

    @tifga I'll have to try to remember some of that. Spending the week at my mom's hit me kinda hard.

    @lemonliz Thanks. I don't think meds are necessary at this point. If I can get some of the major stresses sorted out I think I'll feel a lot better.

    @shortstuff Thanks :-)

  • @tweetyknicks, my RE does tend to be on the aggressive side, which I actually appreciate. She is the first RE in my state to perform IVF and she has been doing it ever since -- over 30 years. I do trust her experience and judgment. As I understood it at the time, she prefers to start high to recruit as many follies as she can and then cut back because you can only recruit at the start and if you don't get many then, it won't improve. She did manage the situation well once I showed signs of over reaction and kept the OHSS from tipping into anything dangerous... I was just really uncomfortable for a week or so. Now that we know I react so well, she is starting at a lower dose confident we will still recruit plenty of follies. If I do not end up with 31 again, though, that is just fine. ;-)

    ET: 2/17, Transferred 2 day 5 blasts

    BFP 2/24!

  • I may just be lucky, but... I've used some amount of doxy for each of my cycles (much more for fresh cycles than FETs) and I have never had a problem with it. Just thought I'd throw that in as a counter point to all the horror stories. It isn't unpleasant for everyone. :-) Hopefully those of you about to take it for the first time will be lucky, too.
