Mean Moms

I downloaded this app for support through my first pregnancy and I have to say I have been really disappointed by the discussion forums I have read. Although, some have been helpful, it's hard sifting through all of the petty arguments and jabs at other women. I can only pray I do not encounter this type of treatment from other moms in "real life" as my children go through school. Maybe it's just everyone's hormones at this stage in the game but why the negativity and rude remarks? I was hoping to find woman I could confide in and instead I'm afraid to ask any questions with fear of getting the response of how stupid I am or why I didn't google it first. It's hard for me to believe these women posting in these forums are moms already or moms to be. Will you teach your children this type of behavior? Belittling others and making fun. What if your child is the one in class who asks a "stupid" question and comes home crying to you saying he or she was made fun of?

As for me I am not wasting my time with that negativity. Only happy, healthy, positive vibes to my growing little one and to all you nice mommys out there!

Google "mommy wars" and brace yourself for what is to come in real life. Not as dramatic as what is portrayed in media but because you are a mother all the other mother's aren't going to want to hold hands with you and sing kumbaya.

Rarely is anyone here is mean, blunt, honest, and tired of being asked the same question that could be answered by a simple search with the search bar.

You may want to rethink your stance on the classroom melodrama. Do you want to be the mother of the kid who always had to be treated with kid gloves because he couldn't be told he wasn't the winner or #1 all the time? Think of what type of adult that turns out being....

I will say that I honestly felt just like you do when I first joined a few weeks ago, but I hung around and watched for a while...and pretty soon I could understand why they were so frustrated with people just posting the same questions or whatever without taking time to look around or do their own research. After a few weeks it gets old. There are just too many of us for everyone to make this their personal Google or diary, it wouldn't be enjoyable at all. I'm sorry you haven't enjoyed it, maybe stick around and see that there is really some good advice to be found here that would be hard to come by in a book. It's nice to have some sympathizers now and then, if you can just take the time to post it in the right place. Best of luck to you!

I truly don't understand how people like this make it in the real world??? How can someone get so buttt hurt over what internet strangers say, and function in daily life?
Don't like the atmosphere? Ok, bye! But making a big dramatic show about it?
Seriously some people must live in rainbow town and unicornville, because real life is 10x worse on people who ask stupid questions with no moderators on how we talk.

I strongly disagree that people are worse in real life.. People definitely speak up here and voice every tiny opinion because they can with zero consequence and because they don't know you. 99% of people I encounter have common courtesy and act like civil humans aka keep their bad mouthing to themselves. That being said it really isn't that bad around here if you give it a chance but let me tell you mom wars are a real thing and when you become a mom suddenly other moms get to comment condescendingly on your choices and give unsolicited advice sooooo prepare for that. Good luck.

I'd like to add that I am an incredibly mean mom, and if my child asked a dumb question in class, (insert my favorite dumb question here: while teaching a high school biology class about plants and the fact that pollen is the male plant gamete, read sperm, a girl raised her hand and actually asked if it could get her pregnant) I hope the other kids laugh at her and put her dumb butt in her place!

Maybe I'm too mean, but sometimes you just deserve to be laughed at.

In a related story, my fourteen year old baby sitter saw Mean Girls for the first time recently (still am not over this year being the tenth anniversary. I am so freaking old!) so I asked her what her fav line is. (You go, Glen Coco! is what she said) So, trying the be the cool mom, I had a mint long sleeve tee made for her with block letters of that line. So fetch, right? Wrong. She never wears it. Where did I go wrong?

Snarky comments can be really bad on this board. Like I've never seen in other communities. It's mostly a small handful of women who respond in such ways. At the same time I've seen the same women be kind and supportive. They just pick and choose when to be so. My advice to you is to ignore it and carry on.

Oh no I only use the app! I have no computer to use.
When I read a few things on my first day of properly using this I thought wow what's going on with all this anger. It did not even take a full day before I was feeling the same frustrations as the "mean mums".
