My daughter was born on dec 20 at 33 weeks and 4 days due to a placental abruption we had to do an emergency c section .. she has been in the nicu ever since she keeps having periodic breathing and every now and then her heart rate drops very low .. And it's very scary I know that the nicu is the safest place for her but it's been very hard for me to see her in there I am asking for prayers that she continues to grow strong and that she has no more episodes of her her heart rate dropping the lowest her heart rate has gone was 42 I ask god every day to keep her safe sorry I needed to vent
Thoughts and prayers to you. Decellerations(heart rate drops) Apnea (forgetting to breathe) and Desaturations(lower oxygenation levels) are common in premmies- my twins have them too. Try not to be too worried. As my NICU head said - they will grow out of them

Well wishes to your little! Try to keep what elephantsonpatrol said in mind, hopefully knowing it is something they'll outgrow can get you through the fright of it. Good luck and congrats on your daughter! Way to go!
The apnea spells are quite common in preemies. Have them check for acid reflux. The heartburn pain can cause them to "hold their breath" then they "forget" to breate again. It was my DS problem in the NICU. There is a NICU check in on Sundays on here. Take it one day at a time in the NICU. Biggest advice is enjoy the little milestones there. If she went 2 hours with x amount of braycardia and apnea spells and its x amount lower than 4 hours before be happy. If you are upset and stressed your baby can tell.
On a side note- my ex mil used to get so mad when she'd visit the NICU Bc the nurses would tell her he's doing great, no spells or they'd decreased. But as soon as she'd touch him or when we got to hold him she'd try and he'd have his worst apnea spells then. I think he'd do it on purpose, & it would make the nurses chuckle later when I'd visit and we talked.
