Bad morning sickness = girl

okay so I know it's an old wives tale, but my grandma keeps telling me that usually when you have bad morning sickness its a sign of a girl. I've thrown up multiple times & have been miserably nauseas every single day for 6 weeks and I'm 9 weeks right now. I really want a girl, but I'll be happy either way as long as my baby is healthy! So what do you guys think?! Lol this is my first pregnancy & I'm new to all of this so no hate please..

  • I've heard that too. I have a boy and a girl and it was very true for me. I'm not finding out the gender this time but I'm banking on a girl since the first trimester is more similar to that of my girl's than my boy's!
  • I had extreme morning sickness with my youngest son (almost 3). We were convinced he was a girl since my pregnancies with my first two boys were pretty mild with some nausea and maybe only getting sick once or twice. Well, we've had all boys so far. This pregnancy has been in between those, so who knows. As my OB says, every pregnancy is different, every time.

    ^Caleb^ - 4/13/08, stillborn at 33 weeks
    ^Angel 1^ - 9/2009, m/c at 4.5 weeks

    ^Angel 2^ - 9/2010, m/c at 8 weeks
    ^Angel 3^ - 3/2011, m/c at 7.5 weeks
Nathaniel - 1/17/12, Happy and Healthy!!!

    ^Samuel^ - 7/11/13, m/c at 11 weeks
BFP - due 7/14/15, praying for a Happy and Healthy baby!!!

  • I had zero morning sickness with DD and she is a girl.  My GF has had raging morning sickness with all of her pregnancies and she has both boys and girls.

You get what you get.... for babies and morning sickness.

  • I had no morning sickness with my first and she was a girl.
  • With my DS I was sick 9-10 times a day until I was about 24 weeks along. I've actually been able to eat this time but it doesn't make me think it's a girl vs a boy. I think every pregnancy and every woman is different.

  • I had no morning sickness with my girl (first child) and then was terribly sick with all of my boys. But it's gotten progressively worse with each pregnancy so it's probably just a coincidence.

  • Horrible morning sickness with the first two. The first was a boy and the second was a girl. My third pregnancy wasn't as bad and it ended up being a girl.

  • Definitely does not hold true. I had horrible constant morning sickness with my first and he turned out a beautiful little boy. Don't get your hopes up for a girl quite yet!

  • Everyone keeps telling us it's a boy because my MS has been mild. I just smile. We'll know when when he or she is here.

Oh, I've also heard that girls "steal your beauty". Not gonna lie, I was pretty gorgeous when I was pregnant with my boy. I'm not going to say I'm ugly now, but I'm not that excited to have my picture taken.

I know all this stuff is anecdotal and has a million other variables, but it is fun!

See I was the opposite, zits everywhere and the hair went crazy, and then boy.

And I had a girl and didn't have problems with that or anything.

  • With my first, I had zero morning sickness, food aversions, or cravings. It was a girl. This one, I have had a little nausea and have little to no appetite. Every pregnancy is different, but it doesn't indicate the sex of the baby.

  • I had MS with my first, a boy.  My skin was immaculate during that pregnancy.  My MS is worse this time, and my skin is a nightmare... found out today I am having a girl.  So it seems like the old wives tale might be true in my case...
  • My coworker was just asking me about my MS today and then repeated the same old wive's tale, predicting that I'll have a boy.

At least I only have 2-3 more months of these silly theories being thrown at me. Those of you who are Team Green have my respect!

  • My sister had terrible m/s with each pregnancy and had a mix of girls and boys. I had terrible m/s with DD and have it again with this one but I think it is just genetics in my family. :(

  • Just adding my story. I wanted a boy first and was so upset because my whole family was so convinced my first was a girl because I had terrible skin and really bad MS. I ended up having a boy and I'm annoyed I listened to my family and their stupid owts.

  • I've had bad m/s with all my pgs (except the c/p). We know that 3 of the pgs resulted in boys. So the wives tail doesn't work for me.

Personally I enjoy exploring all the wives tails. They amuse me. :)

  • I have heard of that but don't agree. My mother had no ms at all, and if it wasn't for the missing period she would not know she was pregnant....with both, my brother and I. No rule for it, just a coincidence.

  • This myth actually comes from a study done on women with HG. They found that 56% (roughly I may be a little off I'm going from memory) of the woman who had HG had girls. Honestly not very good for results but if you google it you can find the study fairly easily.
  • I felt no m/s with my girl...but my skin was terrible and I gained a ton of weight. I blame both of those on all the junk food I ate, though, not her sex.
  • I had bad morning sickens with my first and he was a boy.
  • I would also disagree. Although I have had one previous successful pregnancy, I was sick as ever and had a boy. I am also quite sick this time around. I think everyone's body is different so it really depends on your hormones how our bodies react to being pregnant.
  • I was talking to a friend of mine tonight who just had her 4th baby...she had 2 boys and 2 girls and didn't have a moment of sickness with any one of them.

My mother had 8 children (5 girls 3 boys) and only had bad ms with my eldest brother. My MIL had 9 children, 7 boys 2 girls and had ms with most.. so umm I'm gonna say nooooo from my family.

Still fun to try these. Try the ring test and the Chinese gender charts if you feel like having fun with those kind of things

ETA side note: those are all full siblings too! (I have a half bro too) my mother PLANNED to have 8-10. She craaaazy. And my FIL would love us to have 23 children each to "build his empire" !
  • I don't see how saying "no hate please" could start drama or whatever.. I said that because I've posted once & got some rude replies. My pregnancy was a surprise as I was told I could not get pregnant & that I had endometriosis, & I'm only 17 right now, I'll be 18 by the time I have my baby. So instead of asking why I even posted it why don't you just keep your snotty remarks to yourself? That just doesn't make sense to me. But thanks everyone for the feedback!! I'm hoping for a girl, but as I said I will be happy as long as I have a healthy baby!
  • You didn't get rude replies on your acne thread. It was suggested that you see what people have discussed previously. There still weren't any snotty remarks on this one. I think mayyyyybe you could just calm down a little bit. Not every response is a personal attack, @hendS731

  • I was very sick when I was pregnant with my son and not so much this time around though I dont know what it is yet.
  • I have 3 boys and had varying degrees of morning sickness with each - bad to worse. I am pregnant with my 4th and am by far the sickest this time around. I'd love a girl just because I already know what it's like to have boys, but then again, I love having boys, so another boy would be nice too. I don't think there is any truth to the old wives tales, but you never know! Ps - boys are amazing and love their mommys so much, so don't be disappointed if the old wives tale is not true.
  • Ps - with my 3rd, I really hoped for a girl because I had 2 boys already. 3 weeks after he was born and my first time out with all 3 kids alone, my middle son (age 2.5 totally normal and healthy) had a seizure in the back of my car. He got progressively more sick and I spent the first year of my youngest's life in the hospital with my middle who was having 30 seizures a day. I have to say, as much as you may want to roll your eyes at those that say, as long as it is healthy who cares, I can tell you, as long as it is healthy that is more than we can ever hope for.
  • I think the old wives tales are fun to hear and I enjoy hearing everyone's guesses as to what we are having (we are always Team Green).  But you can't take all that seriously!  With DD I didn't have any MS at all.  With DS and this one a little queasy but nothing to complain about.  My SIL had horrible MS with all three of her pregnancies... all boys! Doesn't mean anything, sorry!

The only OWT that I've heard that may actually have some truth to it is the one where if you have bad heartburn the baby will have more hair when born.

I do think girls steal ur beauty ! Maybe babies in general. I was so.photogenic b4 my daughter. After omg i do not shine in my photos like b4

I did have baaad morning sickness with her. I threw up none stop. I have alot of morning sickness now but haven't thrown up. So well see
  • I felt pretty amazing while PG with my first DD.....

My mom kept insisting that the natural part in your previous child's hair dictates what the next child's sex will be. I was getting so annoyed with her I was ready to smack her ;) Seriously though, she kept going on and on about how it must be true. DD1's hair naturally parts on the right so I guess that mean #2 would be a girl...DD2's hair naturally parts on the left so #3 will definitely be a boy. I kept saying it's an OWT mom and she would not drop it ::::eye roll::::
