Everything in moderation, including moderation. I'm not going to start counting the caffeine grams in my chocolate chip cookies. I have one cup of Keurig-brewed coffee in the morning, sometimes decaf, sometimes regular. I will have an unsweet tea when I go out because it's delicious. Or an occasional hot chocolate.
I did give up Diet Cokes about 3 months ago and it was one of the hardest things I've ever done.

Cut back to decaf the first week but pretty much cut it out of my beverages. I will not, shall not, fuck you if you try to take them give up my Chocolate brownie cookies I discovered recently! Totally help when nothing else works the jolt of sugar makes me feel so much better and they are De-lish!
I have tried to cut back on coffee since I found out I was pregnant but still drinking 1/2 - 1 cup a day of regular coffee. I plan to drink just decaf soon. My problem is chocolate! I have such a sweet tooth. How much is too much? I'm getting worried I'm having too much..
Went cold turkey when TTC DD, and this one was a surprise so in went cold turkey when i found out. I had two cups everyday and it was sooooo hard but I don't even care anymore. What's coffee again?
I stopped. I am extremely caffeine sensitive though. Like a full cup has me wired and nauseous all day. I usually only do like 1/3 cup of coffee and the rest milk and sip it for several hours. I gave it up when I was pregnant with my daughter too. I tried to drink it again once I had her but turns out she is one of the rare babies that is also extremely sensitive to it in breastmilk. It was a very, very rough few days figuring that out. So, I didn't have any till after she was a year old, and her nursing spaced out more. I'm already anticipating it may be a very, very long time before I get coffee again.
I switched over to herbal tea since it helps with the nausea and i have the occasional pepsi or chocolate, coffee just makes me want to throw up right now
Yes, I was a morning cup of joe fiend for 20 years. This time I quit cold turkey without any substitutes like decaf so that I could sleep better at night, and also it may play a part in how my morning sickness is a lot milder than my previous 4 pregnancies.
I gave up coffee and black tea. I figure that way I can have a small soda or some chocolate if I want some. I do miss the liquid caffeine, but I prefer allowing myself to have a treat here and there instead of feeling guilty if I've already had coffee or black tea.
I used to make my coffee at home almost every day and I loved stopping at a local coffee shop to get my coffee with an extra shot. Now, I make coffee less and will have a small cup and when I go to the coffee shop (which is rare now) I don't order the extra shot and I get a smaller cup.
My mom had 6 of us and she was very very careful for each pregnancy. She had a cup a day and everything was fine with each of us. Whatever you feel comfortable with.
Both my acupuncturist and OB said I don't have to give up completely. I've gone to 1/2 caf in the morning and the occasional decaf in the evening. I've even had the occasional regular caf a few times during the holidays. Of course, these are all K-cups, so not as much caffeine as drip!

Can someone explain giving up caffeine to me? It's OK to have caffeine. I have no idea why someone would give up something perfectly OK to have and then talk about missing it. I'm obviously missing something here...
I tried but due to my horrible headaches ill be going back to drinking 1 cup a day. My dr said it is okay to have coffee as long as the intake is not excessive.
Cut the coffee, feeling off anyway (had just bought a new coffee machine the week I found out!), never drink fizzy drinks like coke anyway (SO bad for you), only have a cup of tea (black or green) if feeling like I need some caffeine for headache or at work and only one cup a day. Otherwise a bit of chocolate here & there.
I have successfully (don't ask me how because I love coffee) cut out all coffee. I did make the switch to green tea, and have been having a cup of that in the morning. other than an occasional piece of chocolate, that is all the caffeine I've been having. I sure do miss coffee, though I'm not sure I could stomach the smell of it right now anyway.
I'm not a coffee drinker but I do unfortunately have a bad soda habit. I've switched to caffeine free and have been trying to cut back on how much I drink in general.
I miss coffee! I switched to decaffeinated and not every day. Even though they say 1 cup is safe I didn't trust myself to keep regimented to one cup. It is hard at work when everyone goes for coffee run! I got a set of fancy Davids tea for christmas and enjoying all the different flavors of caffeine free teas.
Yes....I have. I even bought decaffeinated teas to brew at night. Every so often I drink iced tea(I'm sure it's caffeinated) for dinner. My husband thinks it's ok, but I am not risking it. It took me this long to get pregnant.
@SummerOH My doctor won't see me until I'm 10 weeks along. So, I have no one to advise me professionally in person yet. Based on what I've read, there are variations in the amount that is considered "safe." So, it is concerning to me that they do not know exactly how much is too much. I have also read that caffeine can increase the risk of miscarriages as well as other complications. Also, I just think it's a more healthy decision for myself to cut out caffeine bc I have been sleeping better and I'm drinking more water. I have cheated a few times and had a decaf, but I think that no caffeine is the better choice for me. I'm trying really hard to stick to it. To each their own and if others choose to continue drinking caffeine that is perfectly fine.
Nope. I mean, I monitor to make sure I don't go crazy but I refuse to give up my 2-3 cups of coffee in the morning. I have a toddler who is still waking up at night and a job where I need to be productive.
I gave it up during the last round of fertility treatment and didn't really miss it. But I got the fancy coffee maker for Christmas that I had my eye on for Months! So I figure I'll have a cup every other day.
I am a HUGE coffee drinker. Seriously. But during my last pregnancy I ended up with migraines because I cut back, but still had a bit throughout the day. This time I stopped DRI king it as soon as I found out we were expecting and I feel awesome! I still have the occasional cup when I'm out and about, but that's maybe once a month.
I weined myself off of it. Tried cold turkey and ended up with a massive migraine . This is a rainbow baby for me so I'm avoiding anything "risky"; myth or not. Proven or not. To each their own.
Hell no! I just don't see the point. My last pregnancy I was trying to be healthy and decided to cut back on the dr. Pepper and I started having horrible migraines ( I have dealt with them for 12 years) so I ended up giving in. And never limited myself caffeine at all. If I wanted 1 dr. Pepper I had it. If I wanted 4, I had them. My son is perfectly happy and healthy. He's also my reason for needing caffeine this time. A 3 year old with 75x the energy of me, yeah I'll take some coffee or dr. Pepper please. I still have red bull on occasion if I'm really exhausted, I did it with my son too.my doctor said don't drink them daily and if I did have a red bull make sure not to have additional caffeine for the day. I could never ever give up caffeine! I would probably go to jail for murder!
