So last night the contractions started again. They were really intense and involved my lower back. After 3 hours I went to bed and woke up to nothing again, expect for localized pain right above my bladder. I called my midwife to tell her about the pain. That combined with my spotting yesterday sent up a red flag and she told me to go to L&D.
They tested me for a UTI and checked everything out. I was 2 cm and 60% when I was admitted. Everything looked fine, but I was having regular contractions 9-11 minutes apart the entire time. They sent me on a 1 hour walk to see what that would do. I came back from the walk and was now 3 cm and 60% (yippee). They decided to hook me up to an IV to flood me with fluids. The theory is that a flood of fluids will stop flase labor and should intensify real labor. Well, it didn't stop anything and it didn't intensify anything. Never progressed past 3 cm, but they did notice that my water is bulging with contractions which means it could break soon.
My midwife won't intervene (break my water) until 39 weeks (or 4 cm with contractions closer together) so she sent me home and told me she'll be surprised if she doesn't see me again within the next 24-48 hours.
So I just took a warm bath to try to make the back pain go away. I'm still contracting every 9 minutes or so. They also told me to knock myself out with Tylenol PM tonight to try to sleep since I really haven't in a few days.
We'll see what tomorrow brings. Early labor is not fun....................
