i apologize this is not baby related...however I know there a ton of nurses on this board..I'm thinking of going to nursing school and wanted to see what you ladies feel is the best way to study for the entrance test? Which book is best? Thank you
If it's the ATI test as PP mentioned, it's just a gen-Ed test, not nursing specific. There's stuff online you can search for. But it's just general math, science, and English. I didn't find much to help prepare. It was a pretty dumb test.

I think every school is different, but usually it is just a general exam with a little bit of everything. We had ATI but it wasn't for the entrance, it was just accompanied with our classes. You just kind of have to wing the entrance test. They are usually similar to the SAT's.
In Ohio it's the HESI test. I didn't study. I had already gotten my bachelors in another field at that point and figured I'd be ok to wing it. I didn't flip my shit until boards. If you've had any college I think you'll probably be ok. Even if you got good grades in high school. Maybe hit up Barnes and noble a few hours to get an idea of what the books are reviewing.
We had the TEAS where I went but I've heard they since switched to ATI... Which in that case there's a book. I didn't study though, it didnt seem like something that was easily studied for since it's so broad..
I'm in Ohio too and it was the TEAS test for me. I think it depends on the school, not the state. I bought the actually TEAS study guide used for like $30ish just to get a feel for the material that might be covered. I found it to be very similar to high school ACTs. Just general knowledge stuff. You get a score in each category and a total score. And I don't know if it's true but I was told that nursing schools weigh the science and math sections the most for admissions. GOOD LUCK!!!
In texas it's the hesi test. I think if was very easy. I barely remember it bc it was a while ago. I did get the hesi study guide and read the entire thing just bc I'm that way. But it was definitely overkill!
I was in the wait list at two different schools - one I had to take the Gen Ed HESI and the other I didn't have to take anything. For the HESI, I just did practice questions online bit didn't find it too helpful. Good luck!!
I guess it's different if you go right from high school vs later. I just applied to the university that had the BSN program so I didn't have additional tests other than ACT or SAT.
