Weekend anythings

My glorious 8 days off have come to an end and now I'm back at work, so if anyone is around this weekend, feel free to keep me company! (Please!!!)

This Christmas was one of the best I can remember...I started disliking Christmas after my dad died (when I was 9) and I thought I would appreciate it more once I had kids, which I have to some degree. But there was something about the relaxed tone of this year (and being off work, kids being grateful and happy, actually spending the holiday with MY family) that made it finally feel special.

@Flamingemu, glad to hear your clients value you enough to make changes to keep you!

@tinyhumantoe, that barf-fest sounds awful...any chance it was food poisoning from Christmas Eve?

@hmp1, being pleasantly surprised by the thoughtfulness of your husband's gifts sounds like such a great way to end the year.

@willy_gert, keep us posted on your husband's surgery!

Sorry you have to work. We are relaxing at home right now. I hit up an intense spin class this morning and walked te mall after (my gym is attached to the mall) to keep my legs moving a bit. L was with me at the gym DC and had a blast walking the mall and waving to everyone.

DH is headed to an IMPROV show with SIL tonight, so I need to come up with something fun to do with L for dinner.

No new years plans. I will likely have a late work day on NYE, so won't ask anyone to come sit. I just never know when I will be done with everything on the last day of a quarter. It doesn't help that I am taking a half day on Monday so I can go and watch the WVU bowl game...

Ahhh, I haven't been to an Improv (or any comedy) show in so long...hope he has a nice time.

I applaud you for working out this morning. I am at the point of wanting to throw out every cookie, candy, sweet in the house but I know I will immediately regret the decision, so I'm giving it a few more days.

@BPer, I had the weirdest dream the other day which I'm guessing is from seeing IG pics of your new house...I snuck into your house to get some medical documents that you needed for your children's ped appointment, but as soon as I was going to give them to you I realized how strange the whole thing was so I had to sneek back into your house and replace them before you noticed. Anyone want to decifer that dream for me???

Well I pay for the damn gym, I am going to use it! I have a basement full of equipment, but rarely have the motivation anymore to use it. So group fitness it is until my motivation comes back to do it on my own.

I didn't bake a damn thing this year because I knew we would just eat it all ourselves.

Oh my gosh @harti09‌ ! That sounds yummy

My H never cooks and it totally sounds like something he'd "create". This morning I woke up feeling super sweaty and gross (thx pregnancy night sweats), so after I had the boys downstairs set up with some toys and a show; I grabbed my coffee and asked DH if he could do breakfast while I showered. Usually, on weekends, I make breakfast and then while everyone is eating I can shower in peace. Or if I'm really ambitious, I'll shower before I get them out of bed.

Anyways, I told him, cinnamon raisin toast, yogurt and fruit would be easy enough. I had to explain/repeat myself twice on what to give them. Honestly.

Thx @pharmer78 for the condolences. It's been a sad holiday.

Today we ran a bunch of random errands and we are going to church this afternoon. (Twice in 1 week for us, which is a Christmas miracle!) There is a mass being said for my nana and nano and my whole extended family is going. Then we are heading to one my aunt's houses for pizza, salad and gifts for the kiddos. We didn't see my mom's side at all on Wed or Thur. Tomorrow, I'm taking the boys to have a play date with my college friends and their kids in the suburbs.

New Year's plans are low-key. We are just heading to a friend's family NYE party, and bringing the kids so that they can play. They do a countdown at like 8pm and everyone is usually home by 9.

We are finally on our way back home. Now I have a few days off work to sort through things and get the house semi-organized. Christmas ended up being pretty enjoyable despite all of the traveling. I'm happy.

We have no New Year plans. I really wish we did but, whatever. Hopefully we can at least have a nice dinner at home after the kids go to bed.

@harti09 I'm so sad for you that your relaxing morning didn't work out :-S

Oh man! That blows. DH is irrationally scared of water damage in our house. A simple basement fix turned into gutting and re-drywalling and last year our master bath was redone because there was 1 loose tile. He kills me.

That sucks! The seals around some of our windows need replaced and I'm afraid of any damage it will cause before we can get it done (probably this spring). For now, I'm just trying to keep them as clean and dry as possible.

I had a breakdown this afternoon. I'm exhausted between teaching and then being on my own with DD every weekend while DH works OOT. (They're in the process of starting a new company, so I get it) I just feel like I haven't had a break at all, even though I didn't have to work this week. I hate to make him feel bad, I'm just so tired and sore all the time and I haven't been sleeping. However, he did tell them he can't work next Saturday so that we can do something, and I think he has something planned for New Year's Day. He also told me to find and order the boots and leggings I wanted.

I think this is compounded by the fact that he's been so sick the last 2 weeks, so even when he was here, I was on my own. Then, he had an asthma attack at his grandma's on Christmas Eve and his dad had to rush him to the ER. We have no idea what set it off and he hasn't had one since high school, so we have no inhalers or anything. I was a wreck. (And clearly still am, just a bit).

@27boo‌ That sounds scary! Do you think his sickness and asthma attack could be stress related? Hopefully the docs suggested having a few inhalers around again? It sounds like you guys gave a lot going on. I hope things slow down for you soon.

I do think he got so sick from being so busy/stressed and not really taking care of himself. He thinks the asthma attack was from the stale air in his grandma's house. It just built and built over a few hours until his body went into panic mode. He is on a steroid now. He didn't say anything about an inhaler though.

I feel like I've been running around like crazy for a week! My mom and inlaws left at 1 pm Saturday, they had been here for a week. Last night we started sleep training DD2 and she only got up twice! Now we are in recovery mode until DH has to go back to work on the 5th.
