    hello everyone! so for all of you that have been there done that with Lovenox to Heparin.... is BFing an option??  2 weeks after giving birth I was hospitalized with DVT. long story short we did a lot of research (medical books in the hospital) and found that there are no bloodthinnners that are 100% safe during BFing-therefore I stopped .  Many of you sound as if you have had more that one baby with clotting issues so I wanted to see how many of you chose to BF or not (what did you doc advise?).

    If I don't go into labor naturally I will be having a csection. My ob is not in favor of induction prior to week 40.

    @MK1013‌
    I am having twins so my ob wants them out at 38 weeks :)

    Plus there is little chance they will both be head down for a vaginal birth anyway.

    I have FVL...my OB said she wants to take me off Lovenox and schedule and induction a few days after that. My hematologist said he wants to take me off Lovenox and switch to Heparin around week 35 so that I can just go naturally. Not sure which I will do. The only personal experience I've had with being induced led to a c-section and I'd really rather not end up with that.

    Mine is leaving me on lovanox, she feels getting the dose just right on heparin can be tricky. She is not worried about me going into labor and having it in the system as @AnotherDreamer‌ mentioned labor is normally long and a csection would be planned.

    If there is an emergency you can still get a csection under general, the main risk with lovanox as I understand it is with the epidural.

    My husband and I (both 31) are in the process of speaking to high risk OBs and others that can help us during our (hopefully soon) upcoming pregnancy. I had a DVT in 2012, was on Lovenox for 1 week and Coumadin for 4 months. Other than complications due to post-thrombotic syndrome that are ongoing (swelling and minor pain at times) I have had no other DVT issues. Original DVT has been attributed to birth control and 7 hr car trip. I have tested negative for the major genetic clotting disorders.

    We have just begun the task of talking to high risk OBs during pre-conceptual visits and I have to say i'm more worried now than before. I have been doing research on the Lovenox injections that will be needed during the duration of my pregnancy and although I know it won't be fun I know I can handle them. I only did them for a week during my DVT but remember them well. ;) I am however very nervous about the "what-ifs" for both my health and the baby's. I'm terrified of the possibility of another DVT or worse (PE, etc) and the complications that can arise with blood clots in the placenta, etc. To complicate issues further I also had scoliosis surgery when I was 10 and have a complete spinal fusion and bi-lateral rod placement and will not be able to have an epidural. The knowledge of that on top of my DVT issue has me very concerned.

    The one high risk OB we have talked to did not discourage us from trying to conceive but did say "we've (the clinic) done it before, but it definitely won't be easy for you". Can anyone offer any insight, suggestions, success stories, "been there, done that" advice, etc. that might help me to feel more comfortable about this situation? This will be our first child and i'm stressing! Thanks in advance!

    I would try not to stress! I know it's easy to say and I felt just as stressed when I found out as I was pregnant. I've been on lovenox since my 12th week due to a DVT/ PE I had when I was on birth control 5 years ago. No birth control or issues since and no genetic disorders that would have caused the PE. Just like u I had been on a long trip out of the country and had been taking birth control for years with no issues so the PE totally broadsided me. Now I'm 24 weeks with my first and have pretty much mastered the daily lovenox without bruising, bleeding or too much pain and I feel much better going for monthly ultrasounds and blood tests to make sure everything is status quo. Between the ob, hematologist, perinatal specialists, etc. my husband and I feel pretty confident everything is ok. Hang in there- I'm sure everything is going to be ok! One thing I definitely do try and do as much as possible, is to walk and get the blood flowing in my legs at least 4-5 times a week- that gives me piece of mind!! :smile: and our baby boy is healthy, growing fast and super active in there so enjoy ur pregnancy as much as possible!
