Plans for New Year's Eve !?!

DH and I normally stay home and eat snacks like cheese and salami, crackers, fruit and veggie trays, sparkling cider and watch movies. I love New Years eve since it marks the anniversary of our first real date and first kiss. we were suppose to chaperone a dance this year for
our church youth but with my MS being pretty rough we backed out and will continue our normal tradition.

What are your NYE plans or traditions??

  • Oh, I miss having fun NYE celebrations. I used to love getting dressed up and doing a fancy dinner out or those big parties. Ever since having DD our NYEs have been much more tame, home affairs. This year I am sure I will be asleep by 9, like I am every other night these days.

Part of me would like to at least go to a friend's house for dinner to mark the occasion, but the other part really wants to avoid being on the road, especially with DD on board, given how many drunk drivers there are that night. Sad but true.

  • We're driving from Seattle to South Lake Tahoe for a 3 day music festival...booked everything months ago. Not sure I'll make it through the entire thing!
  • NYE is special to me because it is the day we starting dating and we celebrated it as our anniversary until we got married. Now we celebrate both dates :)

unfortunately we are pretty lame people so we just hang around the house in PJs

  • It's between our usual fire at the house or driving everyone to the city for a night of fancy things. I'm actually advocating for the city! We usually stay home and have the bonfire so no one has to drive, but since I can't drink, I'd rather be doing something in the city vs standing around freezing my butt off watching everyone get sloshed! Plus, if we go out, I don't have to cook for everyone!
  • I'm planning to take DD to the kids celebration and early countdown (ball drops at 7) downtown, then we can both go to bed early!

  • We usually have some friends over for a movie/game night...they bring their dog so our dog has a playmate and we drink and hang out...this year it will be the same but I will be rocking the sparkling cider
  • I work until 11. Friends are coming over once he's done work at 7 for apps and games. One friend is on call so he can't drink and two of us are pregnant so that leaves DH as the only one who gets a drink. DS is going to bed at regular time. I'm going to be wild and make a Shirley temple for myself to celebrate...., what can I say, I'm just a party animal.

  • I'll be apart from my husband since I'm staying longer at my parents' house after Christmas while he has to head back home tomorrow. So I'll probably just spend a low key evening with my parents... and fall asleep at 9!

DH and I used to do fun things for NYE. One year we went to Vegas, which was a blast. But the past few years, I've either been pregnant or DD was a young infant, or we've had the flu, etc. So what we do then is order lots of take out from Cheesecake Factory, and have a nice cozy new years at home.
  • My inlaws are having a party; all of their friends and some of our friends- around 50 people. Unfortunately, like most parties, the inlaws will probably outlast us. Thank god they have a guest house that we already claimed as ours for the night ;)
  • I'm actually really excited for New Years. My best friend is having a pizza and ice cream party with an 8pm ball drop for the kiddies. She's a pinterest nut so I'm sure it will be adorable. DH and I are invited to stay till midnight but I doubt I will make it.
  • Normally I would be partying with friends and getting wasted until the morning hours. This year I'll be happy staying in my pajamas all day and watching movie with SO. I'll be amazed if I can stay awake until midnight.

  • We are going to my in laws house for a New Year's Eve get together with dh's family. There will be tons of food and we will watch the ball drop on TV. We are staying the night at there house since it will be late. When dd gets tired, I will let her sleep in the pack in play in the guest bedroom.

  • We are heading to New York City to see friends and kind of make it a baby moon too. I'm so excited!!!
  • Maybe going to have a game night with my sister and BIL but haven't really discussed it. Otherwise I'm not really sure. I don't last much past 9 right now.

  • We usually just stay home and watch movies. I'm usually in bed by 10:30. Exciting!

We're heading over to our friends' house for a fondue night. It's just going
to be four adults and two bebehs, so I suspect it'll be pretty low key.

This is us too, but I just found out our no kids-couple friends are coming too so it'll be our son who's 2 1/2 and his "girlfriend" who's 3 as well as her 3 mo old brother and us 6 adults. Fondue, lots of wine for everyone but me and Cards Against Humanity. I'm really excited!
This signature is all for YOU. I'm on mobile and can't see crap.

  • Usually we do big dance parties with out family. We set up all the lighting and sound system and have great food and drinks. This year though we decided to do more of a cocktail party theme. We will get really dressed up in gowns and such and have nice cheeses, meats, fruit, drinks, etc and play jazz music. More low key, but a lot of us aren't up for dancing this year. Haha.

  • Going to a friends house for the night for a bonfire hopefully with DF but being that he is a police officer we are almost positive he will be working as usual.
We used to go out and get really sloshed. Happy to not have to do that this year :)
  • We do chinese with my parents, sister, BIL and aunts family then go bowling and are home by about 9. We either go to my parents house or back to mine for game night!

  • In the last few years we've rotated houses for a low key party with friends. I'm hosting this year so I can A. Be extra comfy and B. Head to bed early if need be. We'll play games and have the tv on for noise.

  • My friend is getting married on NYE, so I do get to do the fancy dress thing, but no getting sloshed this year. I'm really looking forward to this wedding, I'll just need a long nap to prep for all the fun.

  • We like to stay home. We get a fruit tray and veggie tray, pepperoni and cheese and watch movies 'til we go to bed at 10. We're wild and crazy :P

  • We are celebrating with our small from church. Everyone is bringing an appetizer and we are going to play games until it's time to watch the ball drop. It should be fun. Our whole fam is looking forward to it.
  • I have to work until 8pm. DH has a 10K on New Years Day so we will have a low-key night. I think he is off so he will probably cook something nice!

  • Were going to a friends house for dinner and hanging out. They've already warned us they have no intention of staying up until midnight so we will probably head home about 10 and pass out ourselves. Haha :-)

  • New Year's Eve is my wedding anniversary so we use to do a lot like going out of town and staying at a fancy hotel and party there and get drunk but not since dd was born last year. We'll probably just hangout and go to bed early. Nothing special for us.
  • A quiet evening at home sounds good to me seeing as how I don't ever feel like leaving the house but I'm sure my husband will want to go out of town or something so who knows!
  • Our city does fireworks at midnight so we usually park somewhere nearby and watch from the car. That's about as exciting as it gets for us. : ) I never really got into going out on NYE, so i'm not missing anything.
    image
  • We are having some friends over and I got landed with being the DD (which is fine) and babysitting my friends 5yo while she gets trashed at my place. I'm a little annoyed but it's my own fault for not saying no.
We will just eat yummy apps ad deserts, they will drink, we will probably play some cards against humanity and watch the countdown on tv. Low key stuff.
DH and I usually go to a restaurant for dinner NYE too so I am looking forward to that!
  • My fiancé and I both work. He has a 12 hour shift and I have a 15 hour shift. So we won't even be able to spend it together or with our kids
  • Hubby is working til 3am, and given I'm pregnant I won't be up to a lot!! Probably just go to the beach with a few friends to watch the early fireworks then head home for a sleep.. not that I'm complaining about that all!
  • NYE is a very special night for us as we met each other exactly that night. I somehow ended up at a party organized by my husband now. Ever since then, Each year we would go out to a fancy black tie even, with a sit down, multi-course dinner, and live music, countdown at midnight and such. We have done it ever since that party we first saw each other. This year we are staying home, and just meeting up with our closest friends. I am pregnant and in the most crucial time of the first trimester- placenta developing. Last time I lost the baby at a little over 11 weeks. Not taking any chances this time.

  • Our two children are staying overnight at grandma's house! I am so excited! We've gotten invitations to three parties and are going to try to make an appearance at each. Whenever I'm pregnant, I tell my husband he's "drinking for two and better make it worth my while" so I'll be dd with sparkling cider. I hope my energy levels hold out!
  • DH and I are making a fancy dinner at home, relaxing and enjoying being together with our 15 mo old
    Trying to Conceive Ticker Anniversary
  • DH is working NYE, so I decided to drive out to my sister's party and stay at her place that night. About half of the couples are pregnant (well the wives are), so it will be cool to not be out of place!
    image
  • We'll be getting Chinese food and watching the ball drop (early since we aren't on the East Coast).  I'll also be prepping food for our Sugar Bowl party on the 1st, so I'm probably going to be too tired and/or immersed in food prep to do much more than kiss the DH at "midnight" and pass out.
