How does LO spend their day? (flat head?)

So, it appears my little one has a slight flat head. (I'll get doctors opinion when I go in next week). I'm getting rather frustrated at finding ways an 18 week baby can spend their time, that doesn't consist of their head lying against something.
Anyone of you dealing with flat head? Any ideas of ways baby can spend time?
I do hold him and do tummy time, but I can't do that all day!!

(My 1st child never had a flat head yet he spent time lying down and in a rocker). I'm just flustered about this...

ETA... I mean honestly, I was getting excited about being able to do normal things like clean, cook, et while he was down... But now I feel like I can't even put my baby down or he'll be on his flat head!!!

Yup like pp mentioned he gets rotated from different seated and laying activities (bumbo, play mat, jumparoo, swing, High chair with toys) I hold him for some naps and wear him when we go out sometimes too. He's starting to hate laying anywhere so that's probably moved me into finding seated activities for him

My LO is in a helmet due to a flat head caused by torticollis. Had our first physical therapy session today and she said the floor is the best place for babies. This is for bith tummy and back. She said swings, bouncy seats, and bumbos should be in extreme moderation. Jumparoo not at all because it promotes such bad posture and no core strength. If you LO seems go be holding her head in the same position all the time, you might want to investigate with your dr. If it is caused by a tight neck.

I didn't know the Jumparoo promoted bad posture. Thank you for sharing this. I always thought the Bumbo had him sitting poorly, so we decided to wait a bit to use it.

I tend to jump to conclusions and am a worrier. Lol. I think variety seems very logical. Of course I'll have Dr check LO out, but I'm glad to know it's all manageable.
As for that baby seat, who makes that awesome thing?

We had borrowed one from a neighbor and he loved it. She said they also promote walking on tip toes if kids use them a lot

Well that stinks. I got him a jumparoo for Christmas. He's getting a flat head and even the pedi noticed today.

That seat that Fisher Price makes is awesome. We have a bumbo and the one pictured and he much prefers the latter. We also used a noggins nest like PP mentioned but he rolls too much for it now.

I'm going to guess if you use the jumperoo in moderation, too, the kids won't have problems. My niece never had one but she still gets yelled at for walking tip toed because she does it so often.

This is DD1. I didn't have a jumperoo for her but she is always walking on her tip toes. We've actually discussed physical therapy to help her walk on her flat feet before it causes her muscles to shorten.

Dd is 20 weeks and she LOVES her exersaucer. She can play in it for an hour at a time. Makes for great naps

she is also very active moving her head around and rolling side to side when she sleeps.

Does anyone who ended up with a helmet have any pictures of what their baby's head looked like before? My baby's flat spot seems extreme to me, but my pedi didn't suggest the helmet just yet when I asked at our 4 month appointment. Just trying to compare to others to see if I should push her more on it or not.

@jenniferurs‌ I will look for a picture. We originally saw a craniofacial specialist who was able to take measurements by which they rate the flat spot mild, moderate, or severe. If it's mild a helmet isn't needed.

What type of doctor gives the consult? My pedi has brushed off my questions as well so I've thought about calling a specialist on my own.

We used a craniofacial specialist connected with a large children's hospital in our area. She referred us to am orthotist. A pedi may be able to refer directly to an orthotist though.

Also...if a helmet is needed the earlier you start they potentially will need it for less time.

We went directly to an orthotist and had a StarScan. DS ended up with only a mild case, but I was really glad he was evaluated.

Thanks guys! I think we'll go ahead and get her evaluated. My pedi keeps saying to wait until 6 months to see if it resolves itself, but I'm starting to worry a bit as it doesn't seem to be getting any better.
