I would totally want to read I am Malala but i'd be afraid it'd be hard to find at the library. And yes I'm an 80 year old library-goer.
I'm a library goer too and surprisingly Malala didn't have a wait list. It could be because our library system has dozens of physical and electronic copies of it but considering the amount of taxes our city takes in, the libraries should be stocked! Much more necessary than a new football stadium
I really love Dahl also. Anyone who hasn't read Boy: Tales of Childhood really ought to-- it gives some serious insight into the twisted side of his stories. From what I remember, it is a memoir about his childhood. Really interesting, and a fast, easy read.
Cool list. The Paddington movie has been out for a few weeks in the UK already. We went to see it last weekend and really enjoyed it. The critics are saying there are parts that might be a bit scary for young children, but I think most of that was over DS's head.
I've read In the Heart of the Sea and thought it was really good. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, though. There are parts of the book where the author takes a break from the narrative and goes into providing context for what is happening -- things like the practicalities of life on a whaling ship, or what the medical field knows about what happens to the body in extreme cases of starvation and dehydration. I'm guessing that the movie will have to be much more plot-driven, so I am curious to see if/how they choose to incorporate that information. Plus, Chris Hemsworth!
Gone Girl sounds interesting. I may add that to my list regardless.
I was a bit disappointed in Gone Girl. There were things that I liked about it but I don't think it lived up to all of the hype and the ending was a bit of a let down.

The book, or the movie?
The book. I haven't seen the movie so I'm not sure how it compares. I almost always like books better than their movies though.

I felt the same way about the movie. I haven't read the book, but based on the movie, I wouldn't.
I'd love to be a part of the book club - if you'll have me - might be difficult to keep up at first tho, since baby is due 1-21 .. I've read mostly YA books and would love to start reading some adult type books.
From the link above I'd be most interested in the duff, John Green's Paper Towns, Black Mass, Dark Places (loved Gone Girl!), and the Adderall diaries.
