Wow, it's weird to be writing about my son's birth! I can't believe he is here already ![]()
We arrived at the hospital on Saturday at 2:30 for our scheduled induction. After being admitted, they put in the cervadil at 4:30 p.m. I was able to eat, thank god!, and do most anything, except they would be waking me up the following morning at 4:30 a.m. to take out the cervadil and start the pitocin.
About 1/2 way through the night, I got up to use the restroom and woo lucky me my cervadil fell out. So the nurses ended up putting a new one in and at 4:30 a.m. they removed that one. I got to take a shower, have a light bite to eat, then they started the pitocin at 5:00 which meant, no more food - boo.
They had to play around with the pitocin levels to get the contractions going. Nothing really was happening too much (just small ones) but I did dilate to 2 cm, so at about 11:00 a.m. my OB came by to break my water. That wasn't too pleasant of an event, but after that things started moving.
My contractions started getting closer together and a lot more painful. I still wasn't dialating much, but DH and I were doing the breathing techniques, etc. At about 4:00 p.m., the contractions got really bad, so I ended up getting some Fetanyol. It didn't help too much, but I was able to relax some and dilate to 5 cm. At that time I went ahead and got the epidural, since I was having super strong contractions in my back. It helped me tremendously and I was able to get some sleep for the first time since 4:30 a.m.
At about 9:00 p.m. I started feeling lots of pressure to push. It got consistent around 10:30, so we prepared for me to start pushing. I begain pushing around 11:00 p.m. Aaron arrived at 12:58 a.m. and weighed 7lbs 11 oz and was 20.5 inches. DH and I are thrilled and I can't believe he is here!!
I did end up with an episiotomy, but it helped a lot during the pushing and I am recovering (I just feel like I went to the gym and worked out on every piece of equipment for a LONG time). Heh.
Thank you all for your well wishes! We really appreciate them!
I have more pics, but the connection at the hospital isn't the best, so I will have to wait to post them until we go home tomorrow ![]()
