Willow

I've never met a Willow (and I work with children) but it seems to be steadily growing in popularly. I really don't want a name that's "trendy." What do you guys think? My husband and MIL really like it.

  • Willow is not my favorite but it's not terrible. I do see it as very trendy though.

  • Willow is NMS but it's not bad. I have never known a Willow either.
  • I know three women that wanted to name their daughters Willow in my very small town of less than 1,000 people. One of them did, the second one changed her mind because she knew that her daughter would be in the same class as the other little Willow, and the third ended up with a boy. However this leads me to think that Willow might become trendy soon. I do really love the name though. I always think of the movie Willow first.

I automatically think of Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but that's not a bad thing.

  • I love it!!! Willow Grace was one of my choices if I was having a girl. Very pretty! (But then, I'm obviously biased)

I love Willow. And I think it ages just fine.

ETA: I don't see it becoming super popular.

  • DH and I tend to gravitate toward nature-y names and I automatically picture the tree when thinking of Willow. I think it's beautiful. I haven't met any Willows yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if it does become trendy.

  • I love Willow, I have a cousin with this name.
  • I've only ever met 1.
    Willa is an option!
  • Makes me think of Willow Smith & weeping willows... it's pretty, but also sounds kind of weak/wispy/meek. She might blow over.
  • I've known 2 people to name their girl Willow in the last couple years, one was just a couple months ago. I think it could definitely end up being trendy but right now I think it's still a safe non trendy name. I also like Willa as others suggested.

  • I don't know any Willows, but I do know a Willa who was born this summer.

Also- Wilhelmina is a family name. I have a soft spot for it- but she went by Minnie

  • I love it.

However, I'm the type who would rebel against it just because my H and MIL were pushing for it ;)

  • I love Wilhelmina, you could call her Willow as a NN if you wanted.
  • I don't mind Willow but I much prefer Willa, it's a favourite of mine!!!
