men...

Am I just dating an asshole or are men just as bad with mood swings as we are? I mean do we get immobolized when we get a cold flu? No. Do we get upset about waking up early to take care of pets and children. Possibly..but I don't. Or god forbid waking up to my radio signaling they need me for a 2am emergency. Men.. nothing but overgrown babies. Congrats to you who found a good one!!!

  • The man cold occasionally takes over my house. Fortunately, it's infrequent, as he's worked in hospitals for the last 14 years and his immune system has adapted accordingly.

Since it's so rare, he gets a pass.

As for the rest, his pager wakes me up most nights, and it's a fcuking bitch.

  • Mine ruined Christmas for me last year by having a sinus infection. He can be an asshole at times, but he is MY asshole!!!
  • He's a bit of a wimp when he's sick.   But nope, he's not an asshole. He's a pain in the ass less often than I am, that's for sure.

  • Nope.  Mine rules.  He's an idiot sometimes, but never an asshole.  Even when I am a total bitch.  I don't deserve him.  :\">

  • I apparently got the rare guy that isn't incapacitated by illness. He's pretty tough about it.

My dad, on the other hand, is totally the "oh god no one has ever been this sick in the history of colds you don't understaaaaaaaaand my paaaaaaain".

I sometimes wonder if it's because my dude was raised by a single dad, who didn't have time for coddling. He does his own laundry and everything.

  • Most men I've dated are complete babies too when they are sick. SO isn't too bad. But he can be a stubborn prick....and dealing with that is exhausting at times. But no one is perfect. Your having a moment....heightened by your hormones. It will pass. And chances are if he's a decent guy he'll come around and make it right.
  • Many men have serious anxiety when it comes to having a baby - it can be almost incapacitating. DH was a different man last pregnAncy and admits it was the anxiety of not knowing what to expect and the financial strain he was anticipating.
Mine is awful when he's sick, but as PP said, it's rare so I just tease him and deal with it...
  • You are very right. It's probably my hormones and anxiety with it being his first child and all.
  • I probably have the most laid back guy ever.
  • Mine did the man flu thing until DS was born.  Now it's "I've got a bit of a cold.  I'm gonna take some medicine and take a nap, if you don't need me."  And then he doesn't bring it back up.  He's as helpful as he can manage around the house (the way he does dishes drives me bonkers - there's always 5+ dishes I have to re-wash because they still have food stuck to them - but he does them) - he just doesn't notice mess as much as I do.  He's a wonderful dad, a good provider, and has a great sense of humor.

My dad was in the "happily helpful, so long as he's told what needs doing - oblivious otherwise" boat.

  • Mine can be very moody and touchy at times, but for the most part he is fabulous. But i have had moments such as urs where i get extremely frustrated with him and wonder wth..its normal! Nobody is perfect and every relationship and man is different!
  • Mine suffers man flu but luckily he rarely gets sick. 3x in 7 years. He can be a flaming baboon at times but I can be a crazy bitch. We're pretty balanced out.
