You guys are awesome on ideas! I really wish I had the planning to do a picture of myself! Lol. We are getting a bottle of rum (to go off that wine suggestion!) and something else, DH is in there now, I texted him your guys ideas. Thank you!

You can print pictures instantly at the kiosk in Target. Sign into FB and use one from your profile.

Just an FYI. Sounds like you've got it covered.

  • Thanks, @SSFC2014‌!

How did you guys find out it was RSV? I wonder what the likelihood is that that's what we have.

  • Not caught up yet, but needed to share this thought.

I do not have a terrible MIL. She means well, but she is quite obnoxious. The way she talks to Noah grates on my nerves. I sat in my living room tonight taking some sick pleasure in the fact that my easygoing baby was nothing but fussy in her arms.

    I'm a terrible person.

And I'm setting myself a reminder for Dec 1, 2015 to buy a gate to go around the tree ...
I laughed out loud and almost woke the baby when she looks over at the poinsettia. Lol

Question for our medical lady's, @crawford411‌ and @erawka: I had my abscess aspirated today. Any pressure I put on it results in more drainage. The surgeon when he saw this as I was being bandaged up said that I shouldn't "milk" the wound/site, but the nurse seemed to think it would be a good idea to get the pus out. Angry boob feels like it is refilling and is getting uncomfortable.
I'm of the mind to apply some gentle pressure to it so that it drains further. Okay or bad idea? I don't really want to be in pain again right away as this thing refills.

I'll defer to crawford's wisdom on this because I don't see a lot of boobs in pediatrics, but I would tend towards agreeing with your surgeon. Any time you open up the skin barrier there's a risk of infection, and if you continue to force out the drainage you keep the window of risk open. I'd keep the dressing on it and instead nurse/pump to try to get it to drain the "natural" way.
I agree. I would call the on call surgeon tomorrow (since it's Saturday) and talk to them If you're breast is filling with pus and not milk they may want to pack the area to keep it open but you don't want to have it exposed to a lot of open air

I'm all paranoid now too. How bad was he when you took him in?

I'm drinking a cider by wicked. It's a baked apple one. I feel like I'm drinking an apple pie. It's delicious.

    Mmm!

  • @MonstoMommy‌ LO is coughing so hard that he throws up. And earlier, hard enough that he pooped too. :( But I think the throwing up is gagging on mucus that he expels. Maybe I should take him in on Monday if he's not improving by then? No fever, and he's eating fairly well. I wonder if there's anything they would actually do for him or if they'd just tell us it has to run its course.

@emerald27 Kasey wasn't crying so hard he puked but he had lots and lots of mucous. I'd take him in just to be safe.

Thanks! DS1 had this last week, and they tested him for flu but I don't know what else they did. They told DH that this was viral and had to run its course. When the baby got sick, I called to ask what signs would indicate that he would need to come in, and they said fever, lots of vomiting, or breathing difficulty.

He doesn't vomit every time he coughs, but he has awful coughing fits every time he wakes up, and then he vomits. He coughs throughout his awake time without vomiting.

He's propped on my arm right now so that he isn't laying flat, but I'm paranoid about listening to his breathing to make sure he's not struggling, so I'm scared to go to sleep. (:|

  • Guise, there is a listeria outbreak. In caramel apples. Five people have died. From apples! I am glad my caramel apple addiction ended when I gave birth.

    That's terrifying.

  • @erawka Thank you for the reminder about dehydration. I've been nursing as much as he'll let me, and I'll continue to offer frequently and will keep an eye on diapers.
