Re: FFFC

  • My FFFC is that I eat cold pizza for breakfast at least once a week. Fuck it.
  • Loading the player...
  • I've just started it aaaaaaand

    I don't like HIMYM.

It's terrible. Quit now while you still can. We got too far in and had to finish the series. It was a waste of my life.

I don't cry. I have a hard time relating to criers.

DH has cried more since we got PG than I have lolol.
  • The more I think about it, I'm not as big as a crier as I used to be. I have more rage now more than anything.

  • I have all the tears. I was freely crying within the first five minutes of the final Colbert Report last night. Why?

I really like that my crying FFFC really caught on.

Another: I literally don't understand how people get all upset when their LO's get shots. Yes, they cry; it hurts yo! But they get over it, and they don't remember it, and its like, good for them and stuff....

I just cant bring myself to even be a little irritated at the nurse giving my kiddo shots...

I agree with this except.... the nurse who gave shots to DD2 at her 4 month was an idiot.  She did both legs separately (last time the nurse brought in another nurse to do them at the same time).  And she also gave DD2 the rotowhatever it is one (the one you take by mouth) after the shots - so she was screaming her head off and supposed to drink it (last time they did that one first, which makes sense).  Seriously, I was shaking my head at her.

This would make me roll my eyes for sure, and I would probably point it out to her (Im pretty cut-and-dry blunt in general). My guys' nurse does his two shots seperately, that doesn't really bother me.

  • All LO seems to want to do today is sleep. Sounds great in theory because I'm exhausted from finals week and could really use a nap. Here's the kicker- she won't sleep more than 30 minute increments but then screams until I bounce her to sleep again. My FFFC- I just let her scream for a few minutes in bed with me hoping she would just fall asleep and we could both get a delightful nap in. Her room is super close to mine and I feel a bit bad for being so lazy and not just getting up to bounce her right away. Now she's sleeping in my arms while we rock and all I can think is whyyyyyy why can't we both nap??

Guess I can't explain it, it just makes me sad. It's not like I would consider not giving my kid shots, of course it's good for them and of course she'll get her full series of every vaccination that's recommended. And of course I know she doesn't remember it a mere 5 minutes later. But I don't like when she goes from giggling and smiling at me to wailing and reaching for me to pick her up and comfort her. It doesn't make me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Also, I didn't mean I was irritated at the nurse. I wasn't even mildly irritated at him. I was just having an irrational instinct/reaction, which is why I put it in FFFC because I fully own the fact that it makes no sense.

It kills me for literally days in advance before the shots, I feel like I'm betraying my poor little ones trust, then I'm a mess when it's happening. Shaking, etc. I fended off tears this time though lol. I guess that's my fffc I'm an even bigger baby than he is.
  • I don't think it's irrational at all to feel bad for your baby when they get their shots. I am not a crier and it upsets me to hear her in pain. It's 100% a different cry.

    FFFC:

I hate having a December birthday. Mine is the 21st and has always seemed to get lost in the hustle and bustle of Christmas. Most people are too busy to do anything, other people get presents on your birthday, combined Christmas/birthday presents. Unfair. I act like I don't care but I usually do. Then, I feel like a whiny brat for caring.

I never said I don't feel bad for my kid when he gets his shots. I just said I don't get irritated with the nurse who gives them. Do I wish shots were painless? Absolutely!

My sister's birthday is a couple days after Christmas and I was always jealous. We lived in a small town, and the nearest shopping place was a WalMart 30 miles away. We would always take a trip to the city for Christmas presents, so everyone would pick up her birthday gift while there. My birthday is in the spring, so my presents came from WalMart... I was a brat when I was younger.

    Eta: happy early birthday!!
  • UO: I hate getting gifts. HATE. Gives me anxiety.
FFFC: I am the BEST gift giver ever

    Are you me?

  • @RoccoBabyK‌ my moms is Dec. 22, and she's always hated it. She tried to "move" the celebration up to Sept. 22 but that never stuck.
  • @RoccoBabyK‌ my birthday is December 25...yep...Christmas Day exactly on the dot. I make fun of my parents because everyone would wake up and do all the Christmas stuff then a few hours later they'd go "OH! Hey...it's your birthday huh? I totally forgot." It used to bother me but now a days I'm just kind of like meh. What bothers me is everyone thinks it's so nifty to have a Christmas Day birthday...protip- it's not! Please don't go "oh hey that's neat your birthday is christmas!?!"

I haven't cried at anything to do with pregnancy, birth, or leaving her at DC. I cried when she got her shots.. This isn't a humble brag I swear but J rarely cries harder than a fuss, so hearing her scream like that was horrible. It seriously tore me up.
  • @lookame3639 I am so sorry! You understand the December birthday woes best of all. At least our LOs have nice fun summer birthdays!

I feel you. My birthday is the 16th. By the time we finish buying presents for our families and his daughters, there's not much left to celebrate my birthday with or get presents. :( but then I feel selfish for being sad about it

You said you don't understand when parents get upset about their baby crying in pain directly after I said that I get upset about my baby being in pain, lol. It's easy to interpret that as saying I was weird for my FFFC. It's fine, but it was moderately passive aggressive (if you had quoted me, it would have been a tad less so).
I stand by what I said, though I admittedly could have been clearer. I understand how people feel bad for their babies getting shots, I totally feel bad for my kid too, just not enough to be irritated or pissed or whatever at the nurse administering them.

  • Is rather give shots than have to take arterial blood gases. I've had grown men take swings at me.

I can see why they do, that crap hurts! I had it done when I was taken to the ER when LO was only 3 days old. I had a bruise for a good 2 weeks, probably longer.
