My cat prefers my husband. They have a a very special bond. However over the past 3 wks, he won't leave me alone! Walks behind me, lays in my lap, sleeps next to me. It's so sweet. Do cats smell the hormones or something?
My dog is definitely more attentive now. He also wants to lay directly on my tummy all the time which involves some very uncomfortable and somewhat concerning circling all over my belly.
Omg YESSS!!! My dogs have always been friendly but one is mine and attached to me and is a pug and the husky mix is my SO and she is so up my tooshie!!! See won't let me out of her sight, she tries to be touching me at all times and even has taken to trying to follow me into the bathroom! My friend has a 9month old and has 2 dogs and a cat and she says they all stalked her during her pregnancy also.
My dogs won't leave me alone. The 75-pound lab has become a lap dog. Funny thing, my cat that is usually attached to me is suddenly attached to my hubby.
The dog is obsessed with me, and I'm not his biggest fan (he ate my pillow). But recently, he's been up my butt. The cats literally sleep on my butt, which is weird because they're generally pretty aloof bitches.
But animals can tell that you're pregnant. Generally dogs get MUCH more protective/attached.

Yes! My dog follows me around like a little duckling. He did that to a friend of mine when she lived with me and was expecting. I think he can sense it!
Ha! I'm glad my dogs aren't the only obsessed pets! I have two Lhasapoos who are my babies and snuggly anyway. They are pretty attentive when DH or I am sick, so I'm not surprised that they have been attached to my hip for several weeks now. Laying on my stomach, curled right up next to me on the couch or in bed. The extra attention is really cute.
YES!! Mine is all over me when I get home from work and wants to be beside me or in my lap at all times. He is my big baby though so I still allow it. DH and I are just trying to slowly teach him he can't paw and hug all over me like he used to though.. we're very affectionate with him so he loves hugs, (and when I say hugs I mean his paws on both of my shoulders litterally hugging me) kisses, cuddles, and to be ON TOP of me all the time. How can you look at this face though and not accept the stalking?
my brute of a baby dog has been OBSESSED with me. he usually is always up my ass regardless, but even more so now. At night, he typically lays at my feet, but, the past month or so he's been stretched out laying like a person next to me!
Even the stray no longer pregnant cat I took in about 10 months ago is all about me lately too. She kind of hates all the animals and rarely leaves the kitchen and bathroom, but now she's always curled up on the couch with me.

I was always my dogs cuddle buddy, since I've been pregnant she has been spending much more time with my husband. Animals can tell you're pregnant just like they can tell when you're sick or sad.
Yes. I have two cats. I've had my older cat since I was 18 and he's always been oddly extra attentive when I'm sick or upset. When I'm pregnant, he doesn't leave my side. He seems to figure it out pretty early which is so weird. He's snuggled up next to me as we speak. The other cat could give a hoot and is probably conspiring to remove every ornament from my Christmas tree so he can tear ass through the house at 2 a.m. chasing things.
Married 2008 - DD 2010 - DS 2012 - Team Green due July 1st!
My Great Dane won't leave me alone...even more so than usual. Laying next to me on the couch...when I was pregnant last time he was super sweet and gentle with me. And after baby arrived, he only became sweeter to me and little man! My cat never leaves me alone so no change there. The cat is now more accepting of baby finally.
My dog is a cuddle monster- she's always climbing all over me and laying her head on my lap. But I don't think she has any idea there's a baby cooking in there. I'm interested to see how she reacts when my belly starts getting big, though!
My dog has been super clingy and attentive. I think it's because he can tell I don't feel well. His (our) favorite thing right now is cuddling in bed.

My older cat is totally like this. Just before I find out I'm pregnant he is glued to me/always on top of me. He stays that way until baby is here or until something has happens. When we lost our first son two days before we found out he just wouldn't come near me. It's strange , but he has always been one of my first indicators of prenancy or when something is wrong. It's a comfort in between appointments. Weird, but fascinating.

Anybody know what happens to all of this love once the baby comes home?
My dog was obsessed with SIL when she was pg. We visited last night and he kept going between her and the new baby, sniffing their faces. I thought it was adorable that he seemed to know about their bond!
He's been aggressively cuddling me at every opportunity. Like, needs to have his paws bracing against something else so he can push into me as hard as he can.
Yes! My St. Bernard follows me around, sleeps next to me etc. She's always affectionate but definitely more so now and I adore it. :-) She's the cutest.
Cats are attractive to heat. Our body temperatures are all elevated now (thank you progesterone), and so your cats simply like you more cause you are warmer...and most likely fluffier by now. Dogs, I don't know. They can smell cancer, so I bet they can smell a baby. And since in general they tend to be protective they probably sense that something is different and want to protect you from it.

TTC ---> since the wedding night Initial diagnosis of PCOS, currently labeled as unexplained infertility
Clomid and trigger shot regimen BFP 12/20/13, EDD 8/25/2014, baby got his wings at 11 weeks and 3 days.
They're not more clingy than normal, but I have to have a conversation with my 10mo kitten regarding weaning. He is a shelter kitty, and I'm sure he was separated from his mom too early, but he nurses on my older (male) cat NONSTOP. If older cat is on me, younger cat is attached at the nipple, sucking away. Plz be normal, cats.
Yes, my 68 pound lab is always up my butt! I love it though. She cries when I leave her for 2 seconds to run to the car. She busts into the bathroom all the time and follows me to whatever room I go in. Like I said, I love it and I don't want her to change!
My female doxie is all about my husband, but she actually told me I am pregnant because all of a sudden one day she HAD to be touching me at all times. She had pups once and I wonder if she is just more tuned in?? My male doxie is super clingy too, though. Constant weenie smotherings when I am home.(pictured) My big mutt is pretty much the same.
When DH is out of town and DD is at her dad's (like last night) I let our 50lb puppy sleep in our bed instead of the crate. He usually sleeps at my feet but last night made a point to be by my side and touching me all night. He would circle and almost sit on me and rest. He's a big, goofy sweetheart.
Our GSD Mix barks until I invite him up for snuggles. Little brat. I can't go to the bathroom without him sitting right in front of me, and 2 days ago he got in the shower with me. Granted, I wouldn't leave him alone for the first week or so, but I blame his squishy little face and bat ears.
He was the baby of the family for less than a week. Oops!
My puppy who is usually the sweetest most well mannered dog on the plannet around other animals straight up ATTACKED a stray dog that ran through our yard the other day. It was twice her size too. It ran of yelping.
