  • I am disliking Christmas this year. The pressure of present buying is getting to me, as is the thought of having DS around that many people who want to hold him. I'm the biggest scrooge ever.

    I think infomercials are interesting.

Not that great of a UO but that's all got right now.

FFTC: I love watching infomercials.  I never buy anything.

I don't either but I sure want to!
  • @ChrisseB‌ thank you for thinking of me. This year has been horrible. I can't wait for 2015.

  • @elektragreen‌ yes, yes, yes. DH and I went through all those feelings when FIL died last year. Thinking of you !
  • It bothers me when people complain about businesses being open on Christmas.  1. Not everyone is Christian (in fact, most are not)  2. Those who are not Christian but work on Christmas probably appreciate the overtime.

It just seems really ignorant to  me.

    Agreed.

I'm Christian and it bothers me that most businesses are CLOSED.

I don't agree or disagree really...just want to throw out there that I wish the people who are Christian and would rather be with their families that day could have that choice.

    I totally understand that.

I'm a nurse and I'm always required to work either Christmas or new year's. My family and I have always worked around that and it's been just fine. I don't feel like I miss out.

  • I was just going to say something similar @lynds002‌. I don't think it is about whether you are Christian or not. I think it is more about missing the time to be together as a family. I have had to work holidays and it was disappointing to miss time with the family I see once a year on Christmas. At the same time, I was told that's what would happen when I took the job.

  • I remember a lot about what you all post. Probably close to the point of being a total internet creep, but I play dumb most of the time so my memory won't freak you out.

Fwiw, I have shit for memory unless my mind deems it fun/cool/fascinating.

I have been really excited for your uo because you promised a good one. Sorry, but this is kind of lame. :P

I'm being a scrooge this year, too. I'm not looking forward to the get togethers; DD is going to be so grouchy since her bedtime is around 7 and if we aren't home she starts fussing around 630. I'll get to listen tto everyone tell me that is hungry or doesn't feel good. Um, no, she just doesn't want to be passed around by everyone! I'm taking my carrier and plan on wearing her this time.
The advice from my MIL who has seen DS three times about what he needs or wants drives me insane. I have an off limits at 6pm policy (which drives her insane so I guess were even) because otherwise he won't go to bed until 10 pm.

My UO: I can't wait for the teething process to start. I don't really know why...just to find out if it's really as bad as it's said to be? I do look forward to the silly toothy grins :)

I EBF so I know I'll regret that comment when it actually happens.

  • This is one of these things that sounds better in my head than it does in words, but I will try.

I feel like with Kellymom and other BF websites we are told to feed baby on demand from the breast no matter what and that they are going to get what they need and not overeat and everything will be sunshine and roses.  However, this recommendation changes with bottles(no more than 4 oz at a time, 20-32 oz a day) and I find this difficult. I just get this vibe from these websites that I am inferior for not feeding my baby on the breast 100% of the time, and maybe I shouldn't feel that way. I would actually love it if I could. I  realize how different bottle feeding is than breast, but it's hard when DC tells me DS needs more oz. It really gets to you right in the heart when you think your baby could be going hungry.

  • And I like the Duggars.

  • @loislayn Mine doesn't seem to understand not giving a full bottle either. I was sending smaller bottles and said "Just take an oz from another bottle if he still seems hungry after the bottle", but they would never do it.

  • I don't like cheesecake. .... There I said it.
I don't either. Bu I love cheesecake flavored food. Same with banana. How weird is that. Love cherries, but hate cherry flavored food
I'll do a UO in the name of my husband:  He doesn't like CHEESE!!!!  But he likes Cheesecake; he actually asked me the last time he was eating it, "is Cheesecake really made with cheese?"
    :-O

  • @SoSayWeAll‌ I get what you're saying. I guess I'm just frightened of DC in general since I haven't had to use yet. Something just feels off for me- you saying they don't understand the idea of just adding an ounce from the other bottle is baffling.
Well, I think it's really more of an inconvenience than them not understanding. I'm not saying that's right, but I can't really say that I've pushed the issue, just mentioned doing it once or twice. I think the problem stems from the fact that I am forced to premake all the bottles(from what I understand required by law or other regulation). If I could just send a day's supply and have them fill bottles as needed I think that would work out so much better.  DH has watched DS when he had a few days off and has confirmed that he feeds him about the same as DC does. I am actually very happy with my daycare center and think they are doing a great job; it's just that figuring out the best way to bottle feed him(a comfort nurser) is difficult.  I was very wary of DC myself when I was looking, but my other choice is to have someone I do not know watch DS without any supervision/inspection/regulation. I would love to be a SAHM or have a close relative watch DS, but unfortunately those aren't choices for me :(
