I'm with you ladies whose husbands work farther out from the hospital. Mine is on the road during the day A LOT, usually at least 45 minutes to an hour and a half from home. Once a week he travels about four hours away. He is just starting to think about what he is going to do.
10-15 minutes. Plus I'm pretty geeked that the hospital just got level 1 trauma destination and the attached children's hospital also has level 1 status. Feeling lucky to have those resources so close.
Last time it was an hour and 20 minutes away (although when I went into labor I just happened to be at our cabin which was only 30 minutes away). This time I live only a mile away unless I'm deemed high risk or go past my due date, in which can I'm over two hours away. My hospital cannot treat you if you are high risk or overdue since they don't offer c-sections or inductions or epis.

I’m a modern man, a man for the millennium. Digital and smoke free. A diversified multi-cultural, post-modern deconstruction that is anatomically and ecologically incorrect. I’ve been up linked and downloaded, I’ve been inputted and outsourced, I know the upside of downsizing, I know the downside of upgrading. I’m a high-tech low-life. A cutting edge, state-of-the-art bi-coastal multi-tasker and I can give you a gigabyte in a nanosecond! I’m new wave, but I’m old school and my inner child is outward bound. I’m a hot-wired, heat seeking, warm-hearted cool customer, voice activated and bio-degradable. I interface with my database, my database is in cyberspace, so I’m interactive, I’m hyperactive and from time to time I’m radioactive.
Is there a "too far"? I mean, realistically, how far would you want to be from the hospital?
Some people don't have options. Where I live the hospital here didn't even do L&D until about 10 years ago. Every single pregnant woman until then drove to the nearest city which is 120 miles away down windy rural roads. Everyone did it, everyone survived. Some babies were born on the side of the road, at gas stations along the way, or in the back of ambulances, but they all survived. It's nice to be five minutes away, but it's not essential. I'm just happy the hospital here delivers babies now. Being only a mile away (or two blocks if I'm at work) is awesome! No laboring in the car!!!!

20 minutes no traffic; 45 minutes (or so) with heavy traffic. There are other hospitals much closer. Worst case, I can go to one down the street (literally two minutes away).
About 35-40 minutes depending on traffic--I'm starting to get nervous about driving that far. I'm kinda hoping to go into full on labor at work since I work at the hospital! I'm going to keep a bag in my office JIC and MH can always meet me at L&D.
I feel pretty lucky reading other posts on here! The hospital is only like 5 minutes away and it won't matter the weather or traffic because I live in a small town lol everything is only like 5 minutes away here lol
The hospital I will be delivering at is 35 mins away. There are a couple closer hospitals but my dr does not deliver there. I'm planning on a c section so hopefully everything will go smoothly!!
PPD/PPA Mom...it has been super hard, but I'm making it! Slow steps... Mom to Carter (6), and Calianne (1). Proud VBAC, natural birth, breastfeeding, cloth diapering momma!
25 min drive. Now that being said is not too far but with my last son we barely made it there. Delivered him 6 minutes after coming through the ER, and we had to go to the second floor on the opposite end of the hospital!
They are considering putting me on bed rest at the hospital at 37wks (since both by boys were 38wks)
It's about a 10 minute drive from my house. Luckily my house is a hop, skip, and jump from the interstate and I just jump on there and then the freeway and I'm there
10 minutes from home or work, though I will be mostly working from home in the weeks before my due date. We only have one car, though, and I usually take DH to and from work, so if we need to go on a weekday I guess I'll have to pick him up first. Luckily he's only about 5 minutes away.
30-45 minutes (depending on traffic) from my house. From one job it's 20 minutes, and the other 5 minutes. I hope the weather and traffic are light on our special day in March!
About 30 mins from home and I work at the hospital I'm delivering at. Last pregnancy I actually went into labor early, went into work to finish paperwork, then walked myself up to labor and delivery!
I live 40 min/3 hrs away from the hospital I'll be giving birth in. If my water breaks, H and I might just take the T into the Boston. There's a local hospital less than 10 min away... but my OBGYN only has rights at the hospital in the city.

The hospital in our town doesn't have a L&D ward, and the next closest (30 minutes) only takes full term births bc they aren't equipped to handle any problems. Even full term babies can have problems, so we're not comfortable with that. The hospital were delivering at is 45-50 minutes from us.
Under 10 minutes from home, about 90 minutes (with typical traffic) from work. Hoping I go into labor from home, but I work about 5 minutes from where my parents live, so one of them will drive me if the labor-at-work scenario happens.
