ETA - is this ridiculous? I mean - can they even trust this result? Has anyone else heard of someone being this low? I swear I drank exactly 11.5 ounces of purple grape juice exactly 1 hr before they drew my blood!
59? That's like the opposite. My husband had to fast for a blood test his insurance company gave...and he got I think 69. I know he has low blood sugar issues...is your Dr. concerned at all?
They haven't said a thing! If I was my patient I would be like - um I think you lied & didn't drink the juice. Repeat the test ASAP. IDK!
Did they test you prior to drinking the glucose? I'm hypoglycemic and even then I usually hover around 65-70 whether I've been eating or fasting. I can tell when I dip below 65 because I start feeling light headed and get really cranky. I passed my test with an 80 which the guy said was the lowest he'd ever seen, and that was after I had a really sugary breakfast. I'd definitely inquire about this! 59 is dangerously low. That's the level that only come people can get if they've been fasting for long periods of time and usually is accompanied by light headedness or even fainting.

No, they didn't test me before. I've tested myself in the past (I'm a nurse) & found levels in the 60's after lunch -- but I get an A1C every year (req'd by my nosy insurance) and it's normal, but not terribly low at all. My H's is much lower so we always joke I'm going to get diabetes. So IDK! Maybe I just get reactive hypoglycemia after eating massive carb loads? I'm never symptomatic with it -- ok, well, if I am, I eat immediately. I'll ask at my next appt. Baby is growing fine so I'm not too worried.
I had to take the 1 hour around 15 weeks due to being overweight. My numbers came back elevated, so I had to do the 3 hour. Thankfully the test came back normal!
Just found out yesterday from my ob's patient portal online that I passed the one hour test with a 107. It said > 135 was failing. Also, I didn't think the drink was too bad. I like to always have a drink and was almost craving more by the end of the hour with nothing to drink! I had a cold orange flavor. Good luck to everyone else still waiting on results!
@cesquer I know how you feel. It was the same for me with my first pregnancy and I had to the 3 hour and my level on that one came back borderline so I was treated for GD.
With this pregnancy my level was 189 and they consider anything 190 ans over too high. Thank goodness my Dr's office didn't make me do a 3 hour, but I definitely do have GD.
Good luck with your 3 hour. Crossing my fingers you pass with flying colors
DAMNIT. MOTHER EFFER. I am pissed. I failed by ONE POINT. ARGHHHHHH. I asked if I could refuse the three hour test, and my Dr. was like, Um, no.
I can't believe it.
Me too @cesquer! The office was closed by the time I saw they had called, but the online portal has me at 140 and the cutoff as 139. Ugh.
Hopefully I can just pick up the order slip and walk into the lab tomorrow. I'm leaving the country Thursday and don't get back until I'm 31 weeks. Oh, and the tech blew two of my veins yesterday so who knows how they're even going to draw my blood. Fuck.
I failed my 1 hour last week. They consider anything over 135 a fail and I was at 157. I was extremely annoyed that I had to do the 3 hour. My youngest is almost 8 years old and I failed the 1 hour with him and had to do the 3 hour, so I knew the drill. It is not fun. But I passed! Also, I dreaded having to drink 3 drinks like I did with my youngest but apparently that's changed. I only had to drink one drink BUT the phlebotomist said its because it was 3x as concentrated as a 1 hour drink. It tasted that way too -- nasty. Anyway crossing my fingers and toes that I pass because if not, no VBAC for this mama.

It's not 3x concentrated. I'm pretty sure the orange drink has 75grams of sugar. The fruit punch for the 3hr has 100g.

Mine came in at 146. The nurse tried to schedule me for the 3 hour test and I simply said, "No thank you, I decline." She seemed surprised but said, "Um, okay." I've learned long ago to trust my instincts. Doctors can not dictate how I choose to treat my body or make medical decisions for me. I've decided to "treat" it on my own. I've upped my exercise and lowered my carbs & sugar.

Failed the one hour with 143. I am hoping to pass the 3 hour. I have PCOS and am insulin resistant, so I am not surprised. The nurse was really vague about how the 3 hour works. She said they might give me 75mg or 100mg. She also said some of the doctors in the practice will say you passed if you pass 2/3 draws while other doctors require you to pass all 3. What is the standard at your OB?

I was given the 75g for the 1 hour, and 100g for the 3 hour. I'm pretty sure for my practice it's passing 2/3 hours.
Did anyone barely fail the one hour, and then also fail the three hour? I failed the one hr yesterday with a score of 143. I was not told to fast, and I am ignorant when it comes to this kind of thing so at lunch time I ate what I normally eat, which is a bunch of bad food and snacks (a turkey crossiant sandwich, avocado chips, and some peanut butter cups). Drank the drink 2 hours after and had blood drawn 3 hours after. Do you think my carb/sugar overload lunch affected my numbers? I feel like I have low blood sugar at times though, sometimes severe with sweats, nauceousness, and tingling lips.
Tisha, Mom to DD Taylor 16 years old, DS Trevor 18 months old, and one on the way
I am taking my 1-hour test on Friday. I'm nervous for it for 2 reasons. One, I failed my 1-hour last pregnancy (by 3 points) and the 3 hour test was not fun. Two, I've been diagnosed with extra fluid that "could be" a result of GD. My doctor told me not to eat or drink anything 2 hours before the test. They are telling all of their patients to do this to see if it reduces the amount of women that have failed their 1-hour but passed their 3-hour. I have my fingers and toes crossed, and I am skipping all treats on Christmas day to try and pass the test the 1st time around.
I failed the 1 hour on 12/19 with a 149 and have to wait until 12/29 to take the 3 hour because of the holiday. Nervous about all of the holiday foods without knowing if I should be making dietary changes. Really hoping I'll pass the 3 hour on Monday! FX. Good luck to all of us hoping to pass and Merry Christmas M15 mamas!!
