AW: joining the baby-wearing club!

My little preemie peanut is finally 8lbs so we have been trying out the Moby wrap the last couple days. After lots of YouTube tutorials and trial and error, DD is sleeping like a champ in the newborn hold! Excuse my sleepy eyes and lack of makeup--I'm just so excited to have my arms free! This opens up a whole new world!

Anyone else have a big breakthrough with LO lately?

  • @kegcrc‌ the biggest issue I have is knowing how tight to make it. Today I finally got it right on the third try.
  • @kegcrc‌ - I learned you have to stop along the way and tighten- go tighter than you think. I tighten the most when I bring the straps over my shoulder. Just pull up and it will tighten around your tummy. Hope hat makes sense!
  • I watched a bunch of you tube videos but this was the most helpful to me. https://youtu.be/6_NRExB4vgk
  • Do you mind sharing the moby tutorial video you used? My SIL gave me her moby & is really like to use it, but we've been using the ergo.

You can go to the moby website. That's what I used for a refresher to remember how.

  • The moby wrap is the only way I get anything done or get out of the house. It's essential if you have two kids.

@hjenni‌ that is such a cool wrap! So pretty! What kind is it?

Thanks! It's a woven one my friend got my at my baby shower. I don't actually know if it's a "brand" or not. It's hand woven. She's part of the Buckeye Baby Wearers and is scary good at wrapping lol. She's been helping me figure it all out.

  • We have the ktan too! I was starting to worry she was really squished in the side lying kangaroo position, but then I put her upright. Perfect! She napped before getting overtired and I cleaned the kitchen!
It's true, everyone should try this.

Has anyone tried the ring slings? I got one handed down from a friend of a friend but was hesitant while LO is still little.

We've used our ring sling everytime we leave the house. I love it. We've done froggy and cradle positions. My sling gets a little loose if we wear it too long, but she immediately passes out once she gets inside!

  • We lovvvvve the Moby. I've used it through three babies and I think it's my only "must have" for a baby. Don't have a pic of me and LO, but here is the fella wearing her!

  • This works wonders for our non-sleeper. (Seriously 10-15 minute cat naps a couple times in 8 hours in not ok for this momma)
  • Oops no picture!
  • I have the infantino mei tei...it's a wrap carrier but super easy. It's padded and comfy. Kid loves it. And it was way cheaper than other carriers.
  • I was able to nurse DD in the k'tan tonight for the first time while making dinner. It was life changing!

I saw this in my k'tan manual, but I think I might suffocate her in my boob! Sounds like some awesome black magic trick, though..

  • @oklahomamom09‌ I didn't even bother with the written manual. YouTube all the way.

@Wicked22‌ I have a very big baby lol. He's just over a month and 12 lb already haha. Once your LO gets big enough I think you'll like it. Def watch the video.

@pixie523‌ Do you know of a good website with some examples of these positions?

  • We've used the baby hawk mei tai for walks and it's great. I have a stretchy that I've used around the house. I have a couple slings which I can't get my baby boy to like. He's 5 weeks now and he still slides too far down and just hates being in it. Pic of
  • PSA: the Infantino Mei Tai is on lightening deal on Amazon this afternoon. Not sure what the price will be but may be worth checking out.

I've just discovered this week that Norah LOVES the Boba wrap. What a Godsend! Took her to singing rehearsal last night (I'm in a local ladies barbershop chorus) and she came up on the riser with me in it...sang for an hour and she didn't wake up once...AND I could hold my music!

That sounds so fun. I'm jealous because I miss my choir days. :)

So did I..hadn't sung in like 5 years (since college), but I had done lessons, choirs, choruses etc. since I was 11 so I really, REALLY missed singing. Did a Google search and found this great group of ladies who rehearse right down the street from me! I was actually planning on singing in a concert with them on the day Norah ended up deciding to make her appearance instead lol. They're so sweet...I joined in August so they were SO EXCITED to meet Norah :)

Here we are singing back in October...I'm the one on the very far end to the right with the short hair, next to the tall woman and right behind the very tiny woman in front. Norah knows these 2 songs since I've been singing them since August - sometimes she stops fussing when she hears them! :)
