Re: Wednesday Randoms

  • I'm in the airport terminal with a tired toddler, my sister who can't relax and my pregnant self. Can this day be over?? I really don't want to get on a plane right now.

  • Also, it's about a billion degrees in here. I've never been this hot before. This has to be breaking some type of health and safety violation, there is no way a building should be this warm.

  • I had a shitty day at work yesterday and am dreading today. Just want to curl into a ball and cry. Think anyone will notice?
  • I baked four dozen sugar cookies last night.  And want to eat them all...  Thankfully my husband took most of them to his work pot luck party.

  • I took the day off because I'm unbelievably unprepared for Christmas. We are leaving on Friday after work for 10 days so it was shit or get off the pot time. All I seem to do in the evening is lay down so I knew I had to take a day off. And yet here I sit...not doing jack. Not good. Lol

I'm taking a "travel day" for work today...and I've never done this since I've been in the field, so I feel guilty. But not guilty enough to actually work 8 hours AND drive 7...

I'll drive back home on saturday, so that makes me feel better about the "slacking"

Also, I'm staying at my parents because I don't see the point in getting a hotel 20 min from home...and my dad just texted to ask what kind of jello I want him to make for when I get there, it's the little things!!!
  • Guess who has the flu? ME! It came on so fast yesterday. Today I feel even worse. And a fever. I'll be giving my doctor a call this morning.

  • I want to bake cookies or a cake today all those cookie post just tickled my sweet tooth...

I'm still in bed my tummy is a little crampy . I will get up and clean later.
  • I am waiting for a phone call from the hospital to book an ultrasound! Spent some time in the ER last night, thankfully everything is ok. Have a stomach bug that is causing some very painful cramps mixed with a bit of spotting!
I'm excited that I may get to see my LO on the U/S though! :)

  • Today is my first ultrasound, and I'm a bundle of nerves. I've had one missed miscarriage and three healthy pregnancies. This pregnancy doesn't feel like any of them. I know every pregnancy is different, but my three healthy ones felt really darn similar to each other. I just want to see that this baby is okay. I hate the first tri. Seriously hate.

  • I'm home again. I've been sick with the flu since Saturday. Today seems like the last day, thank god. I'm just milking it so I can get back to 100%. Having morning sickness plus having the flu absolutely sucks.

  • So I need a little advice.  I am 10w1d, had an U/S two days ago, everything looked great.  Our immediate family members know and we were planning on announcing it to the rest of the family on Christmas.  (I'll be 11w2d).  So here is the sticky situation.  My cousin and his new wife have been trying for a long while, She has exhausted her IUI attempts and her doctor basically told her to stop trying unless they want the IVF (which they cant afford right now).  So I'm nervous about them finding out I'm pregnant.  I really don't want to hurt or upset her but at the same time, I'm really excited.  I wasn't planning on a HUGE announcement just a "Hey, this is a thing".  How do I break the news to her and still have my family be excited?
  • Got my blood work results back yesterday and my A1C (glycohemoglobin) is elevated. My midwife is referring me to the Diabetes center for monitoring. I was a wreck last night- so worried :'(
  • @jenmitens my BIL and SIL have been struggling with infertility so we called them personally to give them the news. That way they could hang up the phone and have their own reaction without being with us in person.

  • Students and parents keep bringing me all these delicious treats and I feel so bad because the sight of anything sweet makes me want to vomit.
  • I am starting to stress about finances. I was planning on going back to teaching in August, but that plan is changing and I am really not wanting to continue being on this super tight budget while I work two part time jobs. Ugh.

  • My mom just went back to the hospital and got admitted. I have no idea what's going on and while they keep saying it's probably nothing contagious I'm so scared to take myself and my two DS's to visit. I'm also a little irritated that they almost seem to be guessing what's wrong instead if actually doing tests to find out.

They started out saying it was flu, then it was a kidney infection and were going to keep her for two days, then it was a virus and sent her home to recover. (That was yesterday) Now she is back at the hospital and admitted again because her symptoms were unbearable even with morphine.

  • @caymarks‌, I hope your Mom gets a diagnosis and soon. Sending healing thoughts.
  • My MIL (who surprisingly has the same name as me) had a seizure the other day at work. While I don't agree with her child raising ethics or the way she is never happy for us, I do worry about her. She won't be able to work until she sees a doctor which is gonna be hard on her and I just don't want her depressed or anything like that. I really hope she is okay or atleast getting better. We're gonna go visit her later.

My hubby wants us all to move in together so she doesn't have to work as hard but I literally don't see that working out very well.

  • After our appointment yesterday, DH told his boss, and I told mine.  My boss was so funny - he was expecting me to call and tell him that we're expecting.  It's so nice to have support from our bosses!

I had two stupid owls outside my bedroom early this morning that would not shut up.

I was livid.  They ruin my sleep, and I don't get much good sleep these days :(

    Bah! Stuck in the box.
Be open and honest with her about your concerns. Tell her before you tell everyone else so that she's not blind-sided. Say something like, "I know what you've been through and I really care about you and that's why I wanted to tell you first in a private setting." Let us know how it goes!

  • I can't believe I'm only 8 weeks preggo and it feels like my pelvic floor is going to crash (aka it feels like my vagina is going to fall off!)  I remember this feeling from being hugely preggo with the first but so early... this sucks!  lol  I thought someone said 2nd pregnancies were easier!  :))   =))

  • Had my first appointment this morning. It was a little anticlimactic. I don't know if the ultrasound tech was busy or if she saw this was our second baby, but she let us see the baby for literally all of 10 seconds during the appointment. She pulled the screen back over out of our line of vision and continued taking pics for the rest of the time (approximately 12 minutes). It wasn't the warm fuzzy appointment I was expecting, or received when pregnant with DS. I was worried something was wrong with the baby until we met with the doc afterwards. I get that they don't have all the time in the world to fawn over our baby, but at least point a few things out to us, would you? She said promptly at the end of the appt that HR was 168 and I was approximately 8W2D.

In better news, all IS healthy, and I had a great first appointment with the doctor. We discussed a lot of things and I was happy to see that the office does provide Harmony testing at an affordable rate. I plan to have the test done in 2.5 weeks with the results in about 3 weeks. We will not only know if babe has any conditions such as down syndrome or trisomy 18 or 13, but also whether it will develop a penis or a vagina~!
BarefootContessa I had a very similar experience, this is my first pregnancy and I went for my US at about 7+5, DH took the day off to come with me, and when we were called in, she told him to sit down and that just I would be going in. When I was in there she was very quiet, and then said "yes I can see a beginning of life in there" and then continued to look around/take pics. She showed me the screen very quickly and I'm not really sure what I was looking at and then turned it away. I had to ASK her if it had a heart beat and she just replied, yes.

I left the apt feeling very down about the whole thing, because I was so excited to have the crying and overwhelming joy that I had pictured it would be!!

Fingers Crossed that the next one is much better! But, like you said, we are both very lucky that babies were healthy!!

  • If mayonnaise is wrong I don't want to be right.

I always feel a little pang of guilt when I hear bad ultrasound stories.  My OB has ultrasounds "in house" and they have a large TV on the wall that shows you what the tech is doing the whole time.  She has her own computer/screen to work from and it's awesome.

I have a lacy headband on today, when it isn't on my head it looks like a thong.  I forgot about that and had it sitting on my desk for a bit just now,  #awkward

I just came into a lot of liquor, I am so very sad I won't get to see it till summer time.
    image

We are in the process of converting our bar into a liquor store and our garage is stocked with cases of alcohol left over from when the bar closed, it is a lush's dream come true. The liquor store wont be complete until the early spring so those bottles will be staring me down until then. Rum is such a tasty temptress.

My sister and BIL ran into a similar situation telling his brother and SIL, they could not have children and when they told them (in private) the news wasn't super well received but they handled it well. And finally when the DD got closer they became very excited for my sister and bought her some beautiful gifts for her baby shower. I hope this happens for you and they are happy about your family growing and being able to be a part of it. It seems we all face a family memeber or friend that is going to struggle with our news.
  • So apparently my jar of dill pickles got knocked over in the fridge last night.... ALL the pickle juice leaked out and now my fridge smells like dill pickles and I really don't have the motivation to clean it right now :/ and now my pickles aren't in pickle juice... Just not the same
