Crafty mamas... I need some input!

So I am knitting this baby blanket for my new nephew who's arriving next May. I wanted to make something playful and avoid the usual baby boy colors... the material I started with is not so soft so I will start all over again. I was never so sure about the color combination and now that I'm going to start again I can change it. DH recommended to remove the blue but I think it would be too serious (Dark brown edges, green & yellow centers). What do you recommend? I am horrible at creativity so I can't actually imagine nice color combinations for this. What do you think?

(Attached pic so you can see pattern and colors) The colors in the picture look way brighter than they actually are, so the blanket doesn't look very playful at all :(

TIA!

  • I am a fan of blue, green and yellow. Maybe just get it in softer yarn?
The blanket you made looks amazing btw!
  • In theory those colors sound great together. It might just be the shades that you picked. A greener green might brighten it up.

  • @cshum24 orange sounds great! I will check it out

@fabk @mrshudson618 I know, in theory it should look nice, maybe it's the shades that I messed up haha it's a super easy pattern btw, looks way more complicated than it is. I will definitely choose a softer yarn and try with brighter shades.

  • Maybe a light grey instead of the brown? Because the green, yellow and blue are awesome. And well done you for knitting! I can't cast a stitch worth a damn.

  • @iandloveandyou1 it's super easy, I learned how to knit with a youtube video when I was pregnant with G... but yes, I agree with you, I also think that the brown is too dark and the inside colors are not bright enough... I'll go wool hunting tomorrow and see what colors I can find... if it would have been a girl I'd have totally gone for gray as the frame and then 3 shades of pink or even 2 pinks and 2 purples  8->
