My poor baby is in the hospital he has a really high level of jaundice and we need to stay here until it lowers down to 12. It's at 25 now. I feel so guilty but I heard it's common for early newborns to have. I really look down on all the people who WANT to have their kids before 39 weeks.
I'm sorry to hear he had to be readmitted to the hospital! My DS also needed phototherapy for 24 hours. You will be snuggling him again tomorrow!
I thought jaundice was genetic...... does it not happen if baby is born after 39 weeks? My husband and I were both born with it as were both my brothers apparently so I'm half expecting it for our LO...... I'm sorry your son is in there but I'm sure he'll do great!

It can happen at any time, March of Dimes says 60% of newborns are jaundice. It's just even more common in preemies.

Set up bassinet in room today. Half expect to find one of our cats sleeping in it. ... actually I would be surprised if we don't encounter this. Going to make washing bedding annoying but will probably take photo and be amused at same time as long as they don't try anything when LO actually arrives.
@grumpycat88 yeah I think it's inevitable. Our cats are really sweet but I worry about their claws and getting scared by her being somewhere they weren't expecting. I already told my hubby that animals will be kicked out of bedroom if anything goes down I'm not comfy with and he agrees
@VioletGjoni Sorry your little guy has to be under the lights! My DS1 was under then for two extra days, and it really is hard to not be able to hold them. Maybe by the time his levels are down somewhat, they'll let you use the portable lights sometimes? Anyway, sorry you're dealing with this (and, you're right, it is so common!), hope he's able to come out soon!! Hugs, momma!
So my SIL informed me today that my IL's are planning on surprising us by showing up on Christmas Eve and "staying a while". Seriously? Who does that? My MIL should have enough decency and respect for all the chaos and confusion I already have going on in my life right now not to just show up uninvited and unannounced. I am SO glad my SIL knows me well enough to know how much I hate surprises and that she gave me a heads up. She did ask me to keep it from DD and DH, and they will be fine with that. But I am already having super anxiety issues about them coming. Thanks for letting me vent/rant.
@VioletGjoni so sorry about him having to be in there I know we can all tell you it will be fine, don't worry. But it doesn't make it all better. DD1 had to be under the lights for 24 hrs as well. It's really hard to see. But it will help and be over in no time sending good thoughts your way
@BookitBoo You shouldn't have to, should just be able to sign up to speak when you get there. We always offer a generic public comment section just for stuff like this, but check the agenda before you go just in case cause I guess everywhere is different. Might help to find out who has jurisdiction over that particular road/intersection, too. Keep on them! I'd get your council members emails (especially in your district if its a big enough city) and be persistent so they don't think you'll just go away. Good luck!
I never knew how much I loved my freakishly skinny ankles/feet until they ballooned up to kankles with mini sausages attached. My tennis shoes don't even fit without the laces in them. How do I still have a month to go?!
I thought I was ahead of the game, I finally got the bassinet washed and all the blankets and towels washed, baby clothes sorted, crib and changing table set to go, even scrubbed the whole house (more than once because it still doesn't feel clean enough). I'm laying here stressing out because I just realized I have so much left to do, I am due January 6th, and at my 36 week cervical exam I was dilated 1cm and 70% effaced. I have my 37 week exam tomorrow and I'm hoping all goes well, then I need to pack the hospital bag (so a trip to the liquor store as well? ) and make a list of the last minute things I absolutely need to get done within the next week. But ladies, I don't have the motivation or energy to do it!

Um, no... This would not fly in my house! Sorry @robsbabygirl08
Re: Tuesday Randoms!
I'm so sorry, that does suck to see your baby in the hospital and feel helpless. I hope he gets better soon!

Don't be embarrassed, MRI's are stressful during the best of times. When will you have results?
