N3TR: Wedding Dress Advice Needed! UPDATE in THREAD...Number 3 it is!

Hello Ladies:

So my fiance and I decided we are going to have a very small, intimate wedding with just our parents in Sedona on February 19. I'm struggling with the wedding dress because I don't want to go all crazy since this is a small wedding and it is also my second wedding so for some reason I feel I should have a more casual, simple dress. I also don't know what size to order my dress in. Should I order my current size and if I lose weight get it altered or order a dress in the size I want to be with the hopes this motivates me to work out and lose the 10 pounds I've been wanting to lose for the past 6 months? I know this option is risky, but it might just be the motivation I need.

Woohoo wedding planning is so fun! Personally I would just order my current size. When I was engaged and going to a work out class (was already going before he engagement) it used to bug the shit out of me when the trainer would say things like 'you want to look good in your dress right??' I would always huff and puff back that he fell in love with me this size he damn well better enjoy it, cause this is me! Lol! I think all the dresses are nice, but personally I love option 3! It's so pretty and classy!

I love them all, but I love love love #3, just my opinion

Wedding dress sizes are super weird... they run so small. I know mine was ordered like 2 or 3 sizes bigger than my normal dress size. I would go your dress size now and make sure you get a good alterations person who does wedding dresses often. Those women work wonders. Or are you ordering it from a dress store? They may be more helpful with what size to order if you plan on loosing a little bit of weight. 10 lbs isn't a super large amount of weight so the size may not matter too much. good luck!

I personally like #2 the best, but all are BEAUTIFUL!!!

I say order your current size. Odds are you may have to get it altered when you get it anyway (for length or a small tuck or pull somewhere) if you order it in a smaller size and succeed in losing some weight so you may not be saving time or money if you order small. And I'm not saying you won't workout or lose weight, but what if you don't? You don't know if meds will affect your metabolism or ability to lose weight once your off the bench in the new year...or are you waiting until after the wedding to come off the bench? Either way, you don't want to be scrambling at the end.

@iPutKetchupOnKetchup I have amazing boobs (the only part of my body I can honestly say is amazing...I joke that woman go into the get implants and use my tits as an example of what htey want lol).....between 34C/D.

@redandblue good point about the working out

@cbnola71 I'm going to order online (looking at dresses under $200 and I'm kind of surprised all the options) and hope for the best and if I need to get the dress altered I'm going to spend the money and get it altered. The two websites I found ask for specific measurements so I'm hoping they don't screw up the size too much!

@rainbowbridge14 and @LindseyM2012 and @BlueFairy5 good point about the alterations. I'm thinking of maybe ordering a size up just in case the dresses run small and having it altered. Shit who knows I might GAIN weight LOL.

I'm really into 2 and 3, 3 maybe a little more because it seems a little more unique.

I personally LOVE #2, but I agree with @rainbowbridge14 that it might be a little bit much for an intimate wedding. I like #1 a lot too, it's beautiful, and perfect formal-ness, IMO . Yay for wedding planning!!! Such a fun (albeit stressful) time. Enjoy every minute!

Ditto what PP said about size, but I love #1! It depends in which dress you feel is most 'you'. They're all gorgeous, so you can't go wrong!

Ooh what a fun post! I like #1 best. I think it looks elegant as well as comfortable - great for partying/dancing. I also suggest ordering in your current size... generally speaking it is easier to take in dresses... but in my case, I actually lost weight before my wedding and it was challenging to take my dress in enough, especially at the bust.

I can see why some may say the bottom of #2 may be a little much for an small wedding. I personally think you need to be fabulous, glamorous, stunning, etc. no matter how big or small the event. I overdress for everything and that's just how I do things.

If you want a little more understated, go for #3. You can do some lovely accessories with that dress (veil, jewelry)!!!

#1 is definitely my favorite, but it's all about what you want and feel amazing in! I would order your current size because you could always have it altered.

I vote #3 by a wide margin - never seen anything quite like it, it will make a beautiful memory! And in your current size. No reason to add stress!

They are all lovely! #2 seems like a lot of fun and #3 is super classy. I am horrible at making decisions! What you have planned for your wedding sounds wonderful. Sedona is super romantic. We honeymooned in Arizona and stayed at the Canyon Wren in Sedona for a few nights. I highly recommend their cabins for a place to say on or before the wedding! Let us know what dress you end up going with.

Also, definitely get your current size for all the reasons mentioned above

I love dress #1 and #2. Dress #1 looks a little bit more forgiving, if you order it smaller. But you should order your size. Wedding dresses run a little small so even if you order your size you still may have to lose a couple of pounds. I remember my seamstress threatening me with putting a panel in the back of my dress if I didn't lose 10 pounds...I lost it but I always wished I would have ordered a size larger.

#1 is my favorite! I could see some people's point about the bust area maybe not being the best with your big boobs

But I really think it will look beautiful on you no matter what. I'm heavily biased in favor of #1 LOL

#3 is a pretty close 2nd place for me though. I think it's very classy and actually more unique than #1. So in the end I don't think you could go wrong with either of those. I think you will look gorgeous no matter which you go with ....it's all about your personal style above all

They are all beautiful - but something about 3 seems so elegant and classic. #2 seems a bit much for what you are going for.

10 lbs shouldn't be so much that they can't take a dress in, so I would order your size now.

I love 3, 2, 1 in that order. Also I know I'm late to the party but keep in mind that lace may be harder to release in the off chance that you don't loose that extra 10 lbs. It's beautiful but cleaner to take in than take out from what I've been told. It's also more expensive to hem if you're on the shorter like me. Just a couple things to consider.

OK so I JUST ordered Number 3!!!!! I'm so excited. I think it will be perfect for Sedona. I'm going to order a belt to add some glitter fun to the dress. I bought a tape measure and sent in my personal measurements (holy shit measuring myself and looking at my numbers made me realize I really need to get it together and get into shape!). I'm currently motivated to lose weight and will hopefully be off to the tailor to alter the dress to a SMALLER size lol.

Oh don't let the dress size fool you. I used to sell wedding dresses and the rule of thumb was to buy a size 2-3 sizes larger than your standard street size because they run small.

By the way I love your choice. Congratulations on your purchase!

I think I might add a belt/sash to the dress to give it some bling!
