I just stayed up way to late and finished all the podcast to date. Here are my thoughts up till now.
I fully more than ever believe Adnan is innocent. I had a few moments where someone on the podcast or here would say something and I would go "hmm" because I am keeping an open mind. But things just don't ad up for me.
The thing that finally made me switch fully into innocent mode is in episode 11 when SK reads parts of the letter Adnan sent her.
I think this is a man who is conducting himself in prison the way he would out on the streets in real life. I don't think he had a moment of rage and killed her, I don't think as it was suggested in the podcast it was an "honor killing" for himself. I just flat out don't think he did it.
To many questions, no motive, to many other possibilities, lack of evidence.
One thing that rubbed me very wrongly was when it was revealed how Jay and his lawyer were partnered. Shady much?
We will see what Thursdays episode brings but I doubt I will be changing my mind, but as always I will keep it open.
TLex, re: Stephanie.
Um, Stephanie is my last Google search. I'm very interested (read: obsessed) in her as well. Funny that it was Stephanie's birthday and the car story started because Jay and Adnan were so obsessed with getting Stephanie a birthday present yet there doesn't seem to be any phone calls/interactions with her that day ... On her birthday.
I found a few interesting theories about her last night. One is that Jay was jealous of Stephanie and Adnan's relationship so he killed Hae and framed Adnan. The other was, Stephanie killed Hae and Jay helped her get rid of the body, etc. Jay told the police what happened but replaced Stephanie in the story with Adnan.
I think find this one most plausible out of all the scenarios thrown around. As I just read again a few pages ago I think Jay is the only one who admits to anything, seeing the body, digging a grave, burrying a body, taking the cops to where her car was. He is seeming more and more guilty to me.
I am only on episode 4 so I don't have all the facts yet, but I read thru that timeline and I don't buy it. Sorry. Right now I am on team he didn't do it. I reserve the right to change my mind but as of right now I disagree with you.
@Cambury108 - that's where I started too, so I'm interested to see if you change your mind. Let me know!
I am now all the way caught up @Caer I did not change my mind, Just letting you know

Haha, I read your posts and figured that out.
It's interesting because you said the letter to SK helped convince you of his innocence. To me it did the opposite - I think an 18 page single space letter is odd and creepy. I still think his reaction to the stolen donations is telling too. He doesn't like to be "caught."
Is that not odd id say. I guess thats why in court their are 12 people on the jury. Whats "smoking gun" to one is not to another. I found to me that the letter was everything Adnan ever wanted to say to SK and didnt/couldnt. Long yes but as she said beautifully written. Truth is and a sad one at that 1 of us is right and one wrong. We will never know. I just hope and pray that whoever killed her has trouble sleeping at night. They know within themselves what they did and you have to hope for karma to do her job in this instance.
I still would like the full truth, im way to invested in this story. Im looking forward to SK and season 2 of serial. I hope we can all discuss that one as well.
@ColeRose I agree with you that sometimes it is held against them. For all we know he may have wanted to testify on his behalf and was instructed not to.
I do wish we would have heard more from/about Stephanie. I feel she plays a bigger part then she is being given credit for. Thats just my own personal opinion.
@Caer some people are just more articulate in written word. Perhaps he was having trouble putting all his thoughts out there clearly talking on the phone with all those distractions
But also in the letter he talks about how it was hard for him to show her no emotion/empathy during that year when her father and someone else was ill and I think in all honesty he was just saying what he had kept bottled inside. He made it clear in the letter from parts SK read that while on the phone he was trying to keep her from forming an opinion about him or something to that effect. I don't think badly of the letter obviously so of course I will defend why he wrote it. Also my dad is in prison and has been for years (OK 1/2 my life) I have gotten 12-20 page letters on the regular for years. We talk on the phone 1-3x a week. SO I might be biased.
@TLex they have more time then you would think imaginable and my dad works a M-F maintenance job and its full time. He works 7-10hr days depending on what is going on.
