NTTGPR: So... About those chats... When is it no longer awkward to join the chat room? I feel like I'm still a newbie around here, but I would love to join one of the chats. I also feel like if I join one of the chats it would be comparable to going up to a lunch table of a group of girls that hang out together & asking to sit & join in... It could go either way. Lol.
@redandblack14 I know this was already answered, but I wanted to add anyone is welcome but don't "lurk" in chat. That's when it gets weird. So feel free to join us and actually chat! We love it! We don't bite. And we're pretty hilarious (not that I'm biased) Same goes for CAH. I know we tag people, but it's not an invite only situation! Looking forward to seeing you!
I've tried joining the chat room a couple times, but it says I need the latest version of Java. I downloaded it, installed it, and it still says I need it. Anyone had this issue before?

Oh so much good advice on here!! I am super new and just learning about temping! This was our 1st cycle and AF is 7 days late. Still BFN so I'm trying not to get my hopes up. Should I start temping now or wait until I get AF?
You can start now. It would be good for habit.
I will say that if you are truly 7 days late, then you would be turning a test positive. You probably ovulated later this cycle. Is this your first cycle off birth control or anything?
Ok. That's kind of what I thought. Yes it is my first cycle off BC. So that would make sense.
RE: blue dye tests: I've had twice a very strong blue cross on my tests and they turned out to be negative.
Seriously everyone - Save yourself some heartache and buy pink dye.
@mamasargetobe most OPK strips are better with SMU or later. LH surges usually occur in the morning when you are sleeping and don't register in FMU. I know nothing about digis so I can't explain the difference in your outcome. I can tell you that the concentration of your urine shouldn't matter. You are just comparing the test line to the control line. Good luck!
--anticipating mobile quote fail--
See, a couple people have said that, about the concentration thing, but it just doesn't seem to hold up for me. If my urine is very light or clear (which it basically is any time other than FMU) I barely get a test line. With FMU my test line tends to get darker and lighter. I've been doing daily opks for a month in hopes of catching O and this is the third go round getting darker darker darker, and I finally got a definitive positive result. I basically got the digital to confirm ... and then nothing. I'll see what's up in the morning but it's just frustrating!
I mean this in the nicest way possible -- I think you need to chill out.
You are going to drive yourself absolutely insane over-analyzing every temp, OPK, secondary fertility sign, messing around with FF, etc. It's great to understand your body and your cycle but no amount of stressing or saving cups of pee to test later is going to change the fact that you're either ovulating PP or not.
Take a deep breath.
This. I can practically hear you freaking out in your posts. Just chart your temps and use ONE form of LH test. I've seen too many people driving themselves crazy by using multiple types of OPKs. One of those tests should coincide with your temperature fluctuation. Throw the other one away. Done.
Stop over analyzing, stop putting in dummy temps, stop temping multiple times a day, stop taking hpts daily (you were at one point), just stop.
I'm sure we would all have loved to get pregnant on the first try but you haven't even had one pp period to even get a slight grasp at what your body is doing. No amount of temping, screwing with ff info, or using opks will make you ovulate any faster. Just step away, do some yoga, and calm down.
I get crampy pelvic pain in the 2WW, on and off. It gets more intense two days before my period. I'm always worried I have endo or something. Does anyone else get this? What does endo pain feel like?
Unless you are also having pain with intercourse, bowel movements, and excessive bleeding, stop borrowing trouble. It's also possible to have severe endo and have no symptoms.
Make sure you are getting enough calcium, magnesium, and Omega-3's in your diet.
Yes, this. There are a lot of symptoms beyond cramping/pain, and some people with severe endo don't have much cramping - in those who do, the cramping is typically very very painful. When I was diagnosed (at 17) I did not have major cramping but I was bleeding to the point of anemia and having severe intestinal issues with my period. (I did have a tip off in that every single woman on my mom's side of the family has had severe endo.) If the only symptom you have is some cramping, think horsies not zebras.

I am still a newbie. Learning as I go along. Can I get chart stalk please? Last month I never got crosshairs, thinking it was because I didn't track CM but this month I did. Best to my abilities, of course. I thought I o'ed Friday but now FF says Saturday. Opinions?
Can you ovulate with a short cycle? I was having 9-11 day cycles, ewcm, and a clear temp shift (one cycle I had ewcm but a neg opk so I had dotted xhairs).
I *think* it's completely possible I would just have an insanely short LP or is it possible to have an annovulatory cycle that's that short?
Eta: I asked my doc this and just got an "uh huh. Yea". No real answer.
I don't have huge temp shifts, and I'm worried about what this may mean. I have long LPs (15-16 days) with no spotting before, which should indicate no progesterone problem. But I've also read that if you don't have a steep shift, this could indicate progesterone problem. What do you think?
I've been using OPKs for 3 days now. Based on my past cycles, my barely-week-long CM and CP charting, and the three days of BBT, FF thinks I'm fertile... but I've gotten negative OPKs since I started peeing on them 3 days ago.
I have had 3 days of watery CM and today I most definitely had EWCM... but still a negative OPK.
I know it's super early (so feel free to tell me to shut the fuck up) but is it possible that despite doing at least one OPK every day, I missed detecting the peak? Is it possible to not get a positive OPK but still O, just because of shitty timing in testing?
STFU

You're not really late if you don't know when you ovulated. You probably ovulated later than you think you did. You can certainly start temping now to get in the habit, but it probably won't give you much information for your current cycle.

While it's possible to ovulate with super short cycles, that cycle length doesn't allow for a long enough LP. I don't think you O'd the first 2 cycles you posted, but it looks possible for the current cycle! FX!

I don't believe you ovulated in those first two charts. I like the look of your current one, though.

I learned pretty much everything I know from this board and reading the tutorials on FF. There's no specific dietary restrictions, but keeping yourself healthy is always a good thing to do if you're planning to be pregnant. There's a book that's also highly recommended...Taking Chart of Your Fertility. Might be a good option at work for your IT troubles . Keep yourself occupied with your other hobbies and interests. It's ok to research and be knowledgable about your body, but obsessing isn't going to make it happen any faster!

Calculating LP - last cycle I O'd on CD26, then I got AF on what would've been CD36. This makes my LP 9 days, right? You don't count O day or CD1, right? And, if I'm right in calculating LP, my longest LP has been 9 days since coming off BC in August. Is it fair to assume my LP might lengthen - that my body is still adjusting to being off the pill? Or do you think I am stuck with my 9 day LP?
Didn't see this answered. You are correct in how you are counting LP (no O day and no CD1). I'm someone who used to have super short LP's (6-9 days). When I spoke to my OB about it after 3 cycles and she suggested waiting the 6 months it typically takes for your body to adjust after being on BC. Once I got to 6 months I did get some hormonal testing done and it came back ok. Of course right after testing my LP increased and I'm now generally 11-12 days. So, to answer you. It really depnds on how your body reacts. I'd give yourself some time to adjust to being off BC and then have your hormones checked if you cotninue to get these short LP's. I wouldn't take anything (progesterone supplement) without first talking to your doctor.
The general rule is 3 cycles in a row with an LP under 10 days warrents a discussion with your doctor.
Thanks, @jschwind22!

@wowcheezits-yes they are expensive and some insurances cover some things and some cover nothing, few cover everything. Our testing was covered ($6000) but all treatment is not. For a TI cycle it will be about $700, for an IUI cycle it is $1360 and IVF is $12,000 for shared responsibility. (all these prices are for our clinic only and all inclusive of monitoring and tests, but not drugs)

Inappropriate. Don't bring innocents into the idiocy + TTC and parenting are VERY different, comparing the two is stupid.

While it's possible to ovulate with super short cycles, that cycle length doesn't allow for a long enough LP. I don't think you O'd the first 2 cycles you posted, but it looks possible for the current cycle! FX!

I breast fed my twins until early sept, got my first pp on oct 21, no bc. After that initial cycle they just kept up that 9-12 day cycles. I had a procedure to put a stent in my common bile duct and just found out last Friday that I have a low free t4 so my doc put me on levothyroxine. @Joy2611

My cervix is super high and soft, so it's not just the cm that has me confused. I know I should treat the first cycle of TTC as a lesson about how my body works... but that's easier said than done!
But its warm in here.
I'm doing the same! Just trying to figure this all out. I felt a bit down this morning but I have to remind myself daily.
I will return in a bit to answer moar questions.

Edit...typing is hard.
