Help me with my hair-pic!

edited December 2014 in October 2014 Moms
Lady's! I have a hair appointment on Tuesday and I'm having some serious anxiety about it. Will you help me?! I was going to make this a clickii pole but I couldn't figure out how to add pictures so...sorry.

Right now my hair is longish but it's disgusting. I haven't had it cut since the beginning of July and my ends feel like twine. I could probably use a solid trim of at least 2 inches if not more. I feel like it should be more like 4. I kind of like T-Swifty's hair right now, but it's a little out of my comfort zone. But that could be good, right? I never do anything drastic with my hair (never dyed it, never cut it short), so I don't know what to do. I think short hair might be a nice change of pace and it wouldn't be that short, but I'm afraid it will make my neck look super long and awkward.

Here is my hair recent-ish-ly:

And this is what I kind of like:

Halp!!
Okay I did it and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I want to like it but it's so different than what I'm used to.

I think it would look good like that!

  • I say do it! I love drastic hair change. I'm currently growing out my pixie cut and I really like TSwift's shorter hair.

  • I also think it would look good! My issue is always styling it. You probably have more skill than I do, but I would talk to your stylist and see if that would be an easy style for you to do and ask her to walk you through how to easily do it.

My skill level stops at running a straightener through my hair...

  • I think it would be so chic! Plus hair always grows back so if you hate it you can grow it out again!

I've been growing mine out but have been debating about chopping it (I've had it all colors, lengths and styles). I think that style would look awesome on you!
  • I think you could definitely pull it off! I say to go for it!

  • @GretchenWeiners7‌ So cute! Go for it. Bob's are pretty east to style with a straightener and to wear wavy or curly. I don't have a ton of hair talent but I have hair that length and similarly styled and I've been able to wear it different ways.

  • @GretchenWeiners7‌ I'm so glad you asked this. You sound exactly like me except I haven't had mine cut since the beginning of April and it's been in a ponytail since LO was born. I'm looking for something that will be easy maintenance and won't look weird if it doesn't get cut for several months. I say go for it. I'll probably be making a drastic change too before I head back to work. I look forward to seeing how it goes.
  • I'm going to have to re read this thread when I'm in the chair. I think im going to do it! Thanks lady's :x

  • I like it, I vote do it! Also I don't know if you have Salt Spray but they sell it here in the UK and I think it would make that style really easy to do every day!
  • Are you going to go for the bangs too??

I don't know! I've had long side bangs for years but I was trying to grow them out. I might if I'm feeling ballsy.

  • Those swift bangs take some serious styling! Just make sure you're devoted to the time/effort!
  • It's a great cut. You don't have to rush into it if you're nervous though. Get a cut in between a trim and this, and if you still think you should go shorter, go back.

Who am I kidding though? I would totally go for a drastic change right now, no intermediate steps.

My friend just got this cut and it looks great and styling it is very flexible.

Since you never change your hair you should just start with the length and then add bangs later if you want. You might be like :(( when it's done Eta well the faces don't work but I would worry you would freak out about the massive change but it would look really cute on you!

  • Go for it! It's hair so it will grow back :)
  • I vote do it also! But I would like before and after pics!!!
  • @Lindzoid‌ if I don't totally hate it I will post some! :)

  • I was just looking at styles for growing out my pixie and I saw that for those waves it's good to get a 1in curling iron, using hair spray and messing it with your fingers
I say go for it!! Compared to me her hair is long so I wouldn't consider it a risky short cut I think it'll be great

Here's the link I was reading

  • I don't think I'd go for bangs that are too short to put behind your ear. Bangs are so annoying in your face and bobby pins are a little 2000s
  • Some time around 12 weeks pp, you will probably start shedding quite a bit of hair so this is the perfect time to cut it, especially for women with long hair and/or very thick hair since it seems like you lose a lot more in those instances. Go for the TS look! I bet it would look good on you.

  • Go for the cut! But dear lord avoid the bangs! Sure they're all cute and sassy, but then they start growing out, and it's like nailing jello to a tree trying to style them in a half flattering way! I chopped my hair and got bangs 2 days before my BFP, and while I've kept the cut, I've been growing out my dang bangs for almost a year, and most days I just bobby pin the damn things back! In summary: make sure your hairs still long enough for a ponytail, avoid the bangs!
  • I don't see any reason to avoid bangs ever. They take zero time to style and can make you look like you did your hair even if you only fixed your bangs.

I second this. I love bangs and I think they would look really cute.

I have very curly hair and my bangs would be ringlets if I didn't straighten them. Since I like to just hop out of the shower, brush and run some product through my hair and be done with it, bangs could not work for me. :( Ringlet bangs look completely weird - I had them for a couple years in middle school.

Haha you're right. I wasn't thinking about curly hair.
