DIY Christmas Pics

Calling all creative moms! Help me out.

LO woke up early, so I've been trying to DIY some Christmas photos. They're not turning out! I have a red sheet and a white sheet, a Boppy, a plain white diaper cover and a red and white striped sleeper.

Anyone have any tips or suggestions for easy but cute photos? I'm totally clueless when it comes to photography, but would like to get a few cute shots for family and to keep to remember LO's first Christmas.

Bonus points if you can pip your own photos!

I did some of DS. I propped him on top of couch cushions in front of our tree. I added the height so the tree lights were immediately behind him. I put a fuzzy blanket over the cushions. I took probably 150 pictures and got a dozen good ones. It was a lot of trial and error.

A girl on my old BMB did one where she put her LO in a stocking and propped him up on a sheet covered boppy. It was cute but she said it was hard to do because baby hated it.

I've seen so many baby in stocking photos, but I wasn't thinking I would try it because my kid would just scream. :P

The one that makes me shake my head is the one where people wrap or lay a string of lights around the baby. It makes me so nervous!

Do you have a cardboard box around? We wrapped one up and put tissue paper inside of it. Then we propped C up in the box as an 'early present'.
This was the best expression even though DH didn't get much of the box in the picture.

There's one I've seen all over Pinterest with naked baby surrounded by lights, putting them in her mouth!! Nope. [-X

Here are mine... I have a skylight in my loft bedroom so it was the best lighting for me. It's always better to use some source of natrual light if you can. I pinned a white blanket on the wall and let it drape onto the bed and put the bobby underneath. My only "tip" is to be patient. This took me well over an hour to get ds2 to stay alseep and ds1 to sit still! Good luck

Those are great, @lrobi13‌! We also used couch cushions and got some great photos. I haven't taken them off the camera yet...want to get a few with big brother who is sick right now, so will wait until he gets better. But I took a picture of the camera viewer with my phone to share.

We had SO much trouble getting the lighting right. How do you all manage the light in the room and the lights on the tree and such???

I did it in daytime next to a window but without overhead lighting. Put I used Picasso to edit the lighting so I totally cheated!

I'm not a photographer by any means. But I was inspired by you guys and so tonight I thought I'd try some. The lighting isn't good and they are clearly amateur in every sense of the word, but here is my favorite.

@Emerald27‌ in reference to the stocking, DD loved it! I shoved her in hers and I think she felt swaddled because she was very content. However I wasn't able to get any good pictures haha. That's my fault though. Maybe worth a shot!

@Emerald27. It is the Google photo app. It is free. It let's you edit pictures and share them with whomever you choose. So I plan on sending the link to my family so they can see them.

It also backs up my phone pictures since I have a droid.

That's so cute, @Di_126‌! And while we did get some good ones, I still want to try for a few more, and ones with DS1, so I'm loving all the ideas!
