First unsolicited belly touch!

I looked back in the threads but couldn't find anything like this...
I got my first belly rub today from a coworker ... yes dear, please rub my bloat; the water weight appreciates the attention!!!
I outright told her that she was the first one to do so; she laughed and said that it wasn't the first time she'd been told that!! Oh honey, there's somethin' we might be tellin' you... 6 weeks 6 days in? I ain't showin'...

  • Eeeeeeeew. Just gross. If anyone touches my belly, they are getting a karate chop to the arm or maybe a throat punch.
    I'm not even joking.

  • No lie I will go all hormonal on anyone that touches me. Uncool.
  • In general I think I give off a strong "don't fuck with me" vibe to strangers and rarely get unwanted attention. I'm interested to see if the compulsion to rub pregnant bellies overrides that or not. If it does, I have no problem making a scene and loudly chastising anyone who touches me without permission, or at the very least quickly slapping their hand away.

The thought just creeps me out, though. Ugh. God. No.

  • My parents did this to me.  I didn't mind because I understand.  Thankfully, DH's parents did not.  His stepmom did.  THAT was weird.

A complete stranger is definitely not allowed.

  • MIL was 1st, 2nd and 3rd to rub if that tells you anything and she was so excited I was showing already at 7 weeks. Ughhhhhhhhh

  • In my last pregnancy my sister got a little drunk at her college graduation and kept coming up and touching my 21 week belly.  I let it slide that night, but when she touched me again at Christmas 2 weeks later I told her if she tried again I was going to hit her.

  • My MIL and her friend both did it at thanksgiving. I was 5 weeks and literally said "there's nothing in there." I did receive a nice lecture about "there is!!!! LIFE!!!"

Barf. Don't fucking touch me. I will stay 2 feet away from any belly touchers out there from now on.

  • People like my dh, parents, in laws, or siblings I'm okay with. And they always asked permission before doing so when I was pregnant with dd. I never had an issue with unwanted rubbing but I tell you now that if that happens this time I will rub there stomach and ask them how it feels.

I must have this going on too. It never happened to me once last pregnancy. I like to keep my distance though, and I probably give off a "don't touch me" vibe. I don't even want people to touch any part of me when I'm not pregnant. It just makes me cringe to think about it.

  • Gross. This hasn't happened yet but I'm expecting/dreading it when we tell the in laws or other extended family. Like @ahsile10‌ I anticipate there will likely be karate chopping to the first offender's wrist in any room...."Oops! Reflexes." I do not allow spontaneous touching from anyone but DH.

  • Ew!  I wouldn't even know how I would react if this happened to me.  I give off a "don't touch me vibe" so I've didn't have this issue with my previous pregnancies.

  • Oh man, I hope people don't do that to me. It would really break my "don't touch me unless you're my husband and it's our specified cuddling time before I roll over and go to sleep" rule.

  • While on vacation this past week with my father and stepmother, we told them that we were expecting. And throughout the rest of the vacation they felt the need to touch my belly....I think I am going to have to invest into one of those shirts that states, "if you didn't put it here, don't touch it!" maternity shirts. I like my personal bubble!!! PLEASE RESPECT MY PERSONAL BUBBLE!!!

  • My sister does it from the second she finds out I'm pregnant on. She is the ONLY person that can do this (other than DH, obviously). Anyone else gets serious glares. My baby sister (baby = 21) can do whatever the fuck she wants.

  • Why do people feel like it's okay for them to do that?
I know she's family but my grandmother leaned down and kissed my belly when I was around 6 weeks, it was very awkward.
  • Hubby rubs/points at my belly but he always makes it a point to keep it low...like he gets it that this is not a baby bump but still wants to acknowledge that his baby is in there...but all my Co workers keep staring at my belly like they expect me to grow a belly overnight...I'm like Jesus people I'm like this much pregnant (holding my thumb and pointer finger together really close)
  • oh man!! I had my first belly touch tuesday by a co-worker and I didn' reqlize how weird it was to have someone rub my belly until nowt! I haven't told anyone at work and on Tuesday i was feeling really sick and threw up. I told her I was going home because I felt sick and she rubs my belly and says, "Oh I hope there's a little one in there! it would be wonderful". Little did she know she was rubbing the future vomit of my stomach flu lol.

i just shrugged and said "Who knows!" and walked away.

  • I am fine with people close to me touching my belly once there's a baby there, like 7 months plus. But a co-worker at 6 weeks?? Yuck!

ew. I can't take that stuff even from family. you are not alone.

  • A friend of mine touched my belly already. I had like just turned 7 weeks so obviously it's all bloat.. She touched the top part of my belly and I'm like "Yea no, the baby is wayyy down here.." You're just rubbing all the food I just ate. But she's one of my best friends so I didn't really care.. I generally don't like people touching me at all but some select people are ok.
  • DH kissed my belly the other night.. My response was "you know that's a poop baby in there, right?" We had a good laugh about it.
  • Record of 3 people today...3. They are friends but it still is weird. Hitting 11 weeks and seeing a bump I guess they are excited :) im trying to be very optimistic! Lol I am one that does not touch others bellies. Ill say it out loud like oh how cute I just want to touch it and then they of course will be like go ahead! Lol still weird. My mom is a huge belly toucher and has been touching mine since like 5 weeks. After having 2 losses this year I know others are just as excited as we are so I cant lie-the belly rubs are not bothering me so bad.
  • Oh I did have a coworker put her ear up to my belly to listen...this was when I was like 4 weeks pregnant. It was kinda weird.
  • I would NEVER go up to a pregnant woman and touch their belly. I wouldn't even do that with close family or friends. I just cannot understand why anyone would think it is okay. I am so happy my family hasn't tried that yet. It just seems so awkward.

  • When I was pregnant with DS, a coworker came up to me and patted my belly and said, xx didn't start showing until much later. I looked her in the eye and said, yeah, that's just my fat.
  • My mother dose that too I'm like mom its fat she goes off saying its her grand kid I'm 8 weeks its just bloat. Taking a trip to meet myDH family I know for a fact people gonna be rubbing the food I eat that day,eh rub away relaxes me :p
  • I think I'm going to be having some personal problems once I start showing. I have issues with being too close in general, but once people decide they actually want to touch me? Oh no!

  • No unsolicited touching yet, but I did have my first, "Were you guys trying?" which I thought was a bit rude (Yes, yes we were...).

I did see a pregnant coworker get a belly pat from a random employee the other day (we work in HR). We deal with people with boundary issues every day, but still, it's amazing how people don't see how rude it is!

  • Someone rubbed my belly at a Christmas party and I just said "Thanks for rubbing my fat"  Only 8 weeks tomorrow.   Couldn't believe it!
  • So I have had a few people rub my belly - my mom, MIL, cousin, and DH's Aunt. I have to say that it's the weirdest thing ever, especially since I don't have a belly! I never thought it would be awkward, but it definitely is!
