My Friday is already better - I had the brilliant idea (if I do say so myself) of making a mini monkey bread out of the two refrigerated biscuits left over from last night's dinner.
@Maebb  What a great idea!  I always make a full pan of monkey bread and it goes hard before we can eat it all.  Or we do just eat it all and then feel sick.
  • Oh man, my nesting instinct is getting out of control. All of a sudden I feel like I MUST order pricey 3-D pop-up Christmas cards to send to everyone. HAVE TO. Someone please stop me.

(but I really want them! but they're $30 with shipping and tax! but I don't want to send drugstore cards! but...!!! *deep breaths)
  • Car broke down this morning - the only CAR we have. Had to cancel chiropractor, and reschedule my ob appt (was already 2 weeks late - haven't seen doc in 4 weeks). Car is towed, FX that mechanic fixes it before tomorrow. If not, I'm keeping my legs crossed until Monday - don't want to go into labor at 37 weeks and arrive at the hospital on the back of a motorcycle - haha! Now if only there was some food in this house....
  • Just finished with my OB and everything is right on track. Hearing Zoey's heartbeat made me smile! :)

I had a really nice conversation with my OB about my anxiety and distancing issues and he said that my reactions were normal but he'd still like me to speak to the offices prenatal counselor. I have my first phone meeting with her on Monday. I'm a little nervous about it but I know it's for the best. He set me up to have 4 phone meetings instead of in office meetings, which I thought was pretty cool. Her office is over an hour away from where I live so it's really convenient that I can call her instead of having to drive really far.

Now I'm off to buy some bras...my old faithful popped during lunch time so most of the day I've had a safety pin stabbing me in the back. I hate bra shopping but I have no choice. The girls are running wild! I can't even laugh without worrying about them falling out :| not fun!

Ugh, I just talked to this VP who's been sort of training me for a better role at my company on an overtime basis for the past year. Apparently the guy I had an "informal chat" with about the new role is leaving for a way slicker job at a huge conglomerate, so now there is double the responsibility opening. Anyway, this guy says that when I get back from mat leave, he will take some of my time to train me on the new stuff, and that my boss is ok with it. Sounds great, kind of! Except that it's not the same thing as an actual promotion - it's more work I'll be doing for free, "for the experience". I can't really turn it down because it will help my career trajectory HUGELY if I actually get promoted, but I am getting frustrated with the constant carrot on a stick thing.

This has been going on for a year now. I work in a very lowly position and could really, really use a promotion. So much uncertainty. I don't know if I'm wasting my time. I want to be happy about everything, but I don't know if I can be.

    (dear diary... ;) )
  • You know what I was thinking about last night as I reread all our funnies...

I really do feel bad for our husbands. They miss out on so much fun and awesomeness because they aren't on TB. I'll read a post to mine here and there, but he doesn't get the full effect of the crazy and the madness and all the good stuff. Poor, poor husbands..

    This.

When I was trying to explain all the gifs for the one-and-done newbie posts, he responded with a, "well, you do sound a little catty"...

You get all the frowny faces DH.
  • I'm feeling very catty today.  I was so tempted to ask that poster if she called her Pediatrician or her OB….

My parents never fessed up to the "Santa" thing either. I just remember being old enough to recognize on the tag that Santa's writing was eerily similar to my mom's. When I mentioned this fact, she simply stated "I'm surprised it took you this long to figure out." Although to this day, my parents still give presents from "Santa", even though I'm 31. I just think it's cute now.

Wait!!! Santa isn't real??? My life is ruined!!

  • Super annoyed at my husband right now. I spent the day cleaning walls and baseboards. And doing laundry. He of course slept. Til 6pm. Ugh. Of course I should be more understanding with him working third shift. But I'm pissed. I cleaned from the time I got up. He knows I'm angry. He went to sonic and tried to "Bribe" me with a salted caramel cookie dough blast and by doing the dishes. I'm still sulking in my room. Yes, I'm being a baby.

  • It's a Friday night, I'm in the student center writing papers (one is due in an hour...), and there are undergrads running around everywhere freaking out. I walked downstairs to get food, and the CASHIER TOUCHED MY BELLY. Without warning. "It's $8.19." *touches belly* "It's a girl, right?"

WHOA. Told her it's a boy and tried to be nice while stepping back.

"No...boy? Are you sure? Boy? But you're so big this way!" *motions side to side*

THANKS. That definitely helps me write my papers and feel good about life. Good thing I just bought myself an industrial sized mac n' cheese, because otherwise this would not go well for anyone.

And that's my fun story of the day. End rant.
  • Had a pretty busy but pleasant day... now in sick n bed. :( been vomiting for about an hour not sure if it's the food I ate or something else. Anyways hope you all have better nights

    My husband said that too!

So I said: "you don't know my life!!!111!!!!!!11!!"
I keep telling my husband after I regain my breath from laughing so hard that he wouldn't understand and he always says "try me" so I try and sure enough I get the blank stare. Stop asking!! Trust me when I say you just won't get the humor!

They don't know our lives and I feel bad for their babies and they need to be nice cuz some of us are new. !!111!!!!1!!

I have to brag on DH -

Fridays are his days to bring DS home from DC. They normally get home at 4, and I get home around 6:30. I walked through the door, and he had made an awesome dinner with steak, green beans, garlic bread, and roasted potatoes. It was so good! He doesn't cook often, but it's always great when he does. And he washed dishes as he went, so there wasn't much to clean up afterwards.

I am normally so tired on Fridays, so it was nice to come home to that.

My husband came home with 2 dozen glazed from Krispy Kreme.

Pretty sure it's safe to say he's the best of j15 significant others. Sorry your mens don't love you like mine loves me.

  • I'm not going to poop on someone's apparent "birth announcement", but I just can't with the new post "early delivery". Dear god.

Haha! I couldn't even read through it.
