Weekly Check In for Babies Born 11/9 - 11/16

Hi Mamas! For those of you that didn't see the age based check in poll, people seemed on board with the idea of a weekly place where they could check in and compare notes with other moms with babies in the same age range. This will take the place of our old ticker change check in's. Enjoy!

  • @ssstephanie214‌ I got some socks as a gift that I didn't like until I tried them. I'll try to track down the brand today and get that to you. They are the only socks I don't fight to keep on LO.
  • @crizz13‌ @ssstephanie214‌ add me to the sock dilemma! I seriously do not remember this from DD1. I wasn't sure if they were just the wrong size or what? :-?
  • @crizz13‌ I have a k'tan, lovey duds wrap (similar to a moby), & an ergo. Haven't used the k'tan at all. I like the lovey duds because she seems comfortable & secure, however, it's HARSH on my back if I wear it for too long. I used the ergo for the first time on Sunday (for 2+ hrs of continuous walking) & have no complaints! It's going to take a while to get used to the infant insert/getting her into the carrier on my own...but I figured that's just going to come with practice. I would def give it a try!
  • @lovingaddi‌ we use the walgreens brand gas drops and they are a lifesaving product.
    BABY GIRL, 11-11-14

  • @lovingaddi‌ - two of my friends have babies with a milk protein allergy, both babies had to be tested for that diagnosis, so maybe let your pedi know about those symptoms. Both my friends were able to cut out dairy and keep breastfeeding with good results. Their babies had lots of gas & were very fussy after feedings before their diagnosis. Good luck, hope you & baby do well with cutting back on dairy!
  • @everydaygirl83‌ -- what's your water intake look like? I would up it, even if you think you're taking in enough. I think 1-2 oz in a 2 hr span is okay--at least you're making something! Get in plenty of skin to skin time with baby; that also helps boost your supply. You may want to look into adding other supplements. Per my LC, when EP'ing for my twins I took fenugreek, blessed thistle, and fennel. I'm not an LC so obviously talk with a professional before adding supplements. My LC told me that combining supplements increased their effectiveness.

  • @everydaygirl83‌ sorry to hear you've had such a rough time! As for pumping- I average around 2.5-3 oz total per session (pumping both sides). I pump around an hr after a feeding once per day, but some days I don't pump at all. I'm mostly doing it to build a stash & because we have to introduce a bottle for when I return to work. I was told that you should be as relaxed as possible & stay distracted. Don't focus on watching your output. That in itself could yield more then what you are getting now.

& ty for the feedback. I cut out dairy early on as a trial & error ordeal and that really seems to be the pin point. I will def mention it at her pedi appt next month! It stinks bc literally everything has cheese or dairy of some sort! I never realized how much until I had to cut it out
  • @ssstephanie214‌, @crizz13‌ & @lovingaddi‌, The socks I got were part of a gift set that I linked below by Baby Aspen. I'm not sure if all their socks stay on this well but while these ones look like they have a lot of room on top I haven't had one come off Jackson's feet yet! And you can by the socks separate from other items.

  • @everydaygirl83‌ my boobs suck at pumping. I get the same amount you do after the same amount of time. I'm not too stressed, since DS is gaining weight like a champ. Babies are also more efficient at emptying than pumps are. It does suck, though, because I don't have much of a stash.

  • -Age: 4 weeks, 3 days (Nov 14th)
-Sleeping: He has both good and bad nights sleep wise still... the past 2 nights, he's only gotten up once at 3am and then been fine until 7 or so... here's to hoping it continues! I feel like whenever I say he's been sleeping well, he throws in a rough night and vice versa! Lol!
-Eating: We're EBF and little man is making big gains, so definitely is getting enough to eat (up to 10lb 10oz, per today's dr visit in comparison to his birth weight of 7lb 11.8oz), but he's had a reflux issue since birth, so feedings can be quite rough with him screaming, throwing up mid-feeding and afterward and having an insanely arched back that makes it difficult to burp him.
-Milestones: LO is very chatty and smiling a ton! I love when he "talks" to me! Also has been able to lift his head and look around for awhile..I was surprised by how quickly he started this!
-Questions: Anyone else dealing with reflux? If so, any recommendations (other than drugs, since it seems our doctor is never going to let us try anything)?
-AW: Proud of how well I've done with BF/pumping so far! I never thought I'd have success with it, especially for this long!
  • @danigirl830‌ that's what they said they were going to try with my son originally, but they haven't yet and when I've asked for it again, they sent a script for gas drops to the pharmacy instead... and they are not helping! It makes me sad to see my little man so upset during/after feeding!
