To All My Honest Ladies - a TTCAL Awards Voting Dilemma

buggirl72buggirl72 member
edited December 2014 in TTC After a Loss
Good morning ladies,

PC requested that I officially take over the TTCAL awards.  I was reviewing the current votes and it is painfully obvious that some people voted twice (PC warned you about the features of this survey that let us see IP).

image
Actually, after the results of my poll yesterday, I'm not that surprised that we have a few ladies in here that think the rules do not apply to them.
image

My dilemma is what to do with the votes - throw out both or just the second one?

Thoughts, opinions, harsh criticism of cheaters appreciated.

Re: To All My Honest Ladies - a TTCAL Awards Voting Dilemma

  • Are you serious? People freaking actually DID that??

This is a hard situation. Did the people that voted twice vote for the same people or do you not know that?
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

  • I'm with @Nikolie93 as I'd like to know their reason(s) for voting more than once but rules are rules and I say both (or all) votes get tossed.

I think the duplicate should be thrown out. PC warned that duplicates from the same IP address would be removed.

Maybe even both. That's so shady.

    ETA: words
  • I agree throw them out. Rules are simple.... follow them.

Unfortunately, IP tracking services like this aren't flawless and it doesn't stop someone from going to a completely different computer elsewhere on a different network and voting again. You would hope this isn't the case.... But I doubt it.
    This.

I just thought we were all adults here (at least semi :-D ) and people wouldn't do this :(

  • I say throw them both out. It is shitty to try and cheat on awards that are supposed to be fun!

  • I hope it wasn't someone that did it so they could vote for themselves, because that would just be embarrassing  :|

I have to say that it if seems pretty obvious I agree with throwing them both out :(

  • My vote is to toss out both votes. If you cheat, your vote doesn't count. Be fair :) Also....who would vote more than once. It's just for fun! Don't fuckin ruin it for others who enjoy it. *insert eye roll emoji because my phone hates me and can't right now*

  • What the what?

Okay - and bear with me, I'm working on being less cynical - is there anyway that there's an error, like a bump burb? For example, I actually haven't voted yet because I can't get the survey to load on my mobile. Could that mess with things by showing multiple logins-even though the survey never actually came up??

In an effort to give people the benefit of the doubt, I vote for keep one and toss repeats.

@eliida - multiple logins are not the problem. You should be okay to vote if you can get to a platform that loads for you.

  • So one person fessed up. Was it definitely more than one? If it was, that's really low and I'd throw all of their votes out. This is supposed to be a light hearted thing, not something to cheat at!!

Were there a lot This made me think. Does it give a time stamp for when it happened? Does it submit the responses as you're completing each section or does it do it all at the end? I wonder if anyone had internet or computer trouble while voting and it submitted but they didn't know? Just thinking out loud here...but if they voted more than twice and it's really obvious that they completed the vote and then went in and did it again? Or 2+ times? Hell no.

This happened to me. I was halfway through completing the survey when someone walked into my office and I had to close out of it. But I never clicked "submit." Then later on, I went back to it, did the whole thing over again, and submitted it. I don't think this would be an issue, though, as the first one never got submitted so would not have been counted...

  • I agree- throw them both out. The rules were there to read and follow or face the consequences.

My initial thought was that there might be some that voted day 1. Clicked on the thread when it was bumped, forgot they voted, and voted again.

Is it also possible that internet lurkers could have clicked on it, just to be mean, a few times?

The part of me that wants to see the best in everyone says to throw out the second vote - maybe someone forgot or their computer did something wonky that they thought it didn't go through and they voted again...??

But, the part of me that knows some people just don't follow the rules says their votes should be thrown out.

Tough decision - but I'm leaning toward throwing out the second vote only.

Am I missing something - is there some sort of monetary award or other really big prize if you win? I thought it was simply bragging rights....

I don't suppose you know who (other than Kate, whom we thank for being honest about her mistakes) the offending parties are? I feel they should not only have their votes nullified, but should be removed as candidates. That's incredibly poor sportsmanship.

    ETA: clarification.
THIS! YEP. Especially if the votes were for themselves (and on purpose). Also, Lady, I love your siggy campaign! I didn't notice it before tonight :) So cute!

ETA- If these voters were even candidates? Or was it random people voting who lurk/post a few times?

    Throw them both out!
  • @bluedaisy0627‌ I suspect you're right about the IP address not being traced back to a screen name.

In the spirit of giving the benefit of the doubt, I suppose it is possible that a devoted H knew of awards, but not the voting stipulations, and tried to bolster his wife's chances? I'd like to think no one derives their self worth so much from this group that they would vote multiple times for themselves or that they would try to stack the odds for a friend.
