The hip dermal thread got me thinking about my own body modifications. So tell me ladies, do you have any tattoos, piercings, dermals, etc. If so, how many and where?
I have 8 piercings total: 6 in the ears, 1 in the nose, and 1 in my belly button (but I just took that out). I also have 3 tattoos: 1 on my wrist and one on each shoulder blade.

Had tounge and nipple pierced.
I have 3 tattoos - a vine on my left foot, the Pi symbol on my left wrist (I kind of hate that one), and three stars going down my upper back.

Have 8 tattoos. Two on my right ankle (daisy and butterfly) Two on my left ankle (lilly and anither flower with an eye in the center). I have the all seeing eye on my left hip. Lastly I have two fairies on the bottom of my back and a phoenix in the center of my back with the words "Our greatest glory is not in never failing but in rising when we fall".
This analogy made me laugh! Dh has lots of tattoos, gauged ears, and both nipples pierced. Not sure how well his nipples will fair after DD arrives. My cousin ripped out my uncles nipple ring when she was a baby, yikes!!!!!
I have like 8 ear piercings that I don't wear anymore, and my lobes are stretched but I don't wear plugs in them. I have what we now affectionately refer to as "butthole ears". I also have my septum pierced but never wear anything in it either.
I agree that pregnancy makes the piercings more irritated.
As of right now DH isn't planning on taking them out @-)
I have a quarter sleeve on my left shoulder/arm, one behind my right ear, and one below my left ankle.
Eta- oh, and they're hand drawn flowers, four leaf clover, and a peace sign
I'll say I have 3 tattoos. One on my foot, one on my ankle and the 3rd is a back piece that covers half my lower back.
My brother is actually a tattoo artist and it's a shame I don't have more by now. He's amazingly talented and doesn't charge me a dime. I do have future plans to expand the back piece after I'm done breastfeeding.
I have double pierced ears, belly button was pierced before babies ruined my stomach!
Two tattoos: a feather (like a quill pen) on my left wrist and a butterfly tramp stamp (what what)
Now have 5 in my ears and one tatt. I actuall had 2 tattoos printed and ready to go the week I found out I was preg.
I also have four tattoos, one on my forearm, my hand, my foot & my left chest.
6 current tattoos and more planned. Dusky Dolphins on my bum, a koi just above it, momma and baby elephant on side of hip, larger koi in water on right side calf, diamond outline in ribs (a group endeavor with best friends from college), and a lower leg sleeve (or pant?) of the four seasons of white birch trees including an owl, sunset, and rock wall. Somewhat literal family tree planned for a future half sleeve. I loooove me some tattoos! DH has no piercings or tattoos. Maybe one day.
Had my left eyebrow pierced twice but they both worked their way out over time. Tongue was pieced but swallowed it when I was sick one day :-S
Eight tattys which are all over my body: three on my back, a large one on my ribcage, a large band around my left calf, right forearm, left wrist and one behind the ear!
Want to get a half sleeve done in the future
Anyway, I'm sure I want to take it out before giving birth.. But for all the ladies with piercings that they want to put back later, what should I get for a "placeholder"??
I have 7 ear piercings. 2 in each lobe and 3 in my right cartilage. I think all my cartilage ones are closed up now though, I never wear any earrings anymore. I put some in my lobes for special occasions like weddings and what not though.
I used to have my lobes gauged. They were size 2's in the first holes and a size 6 in my second holes. For size reference that's about a standard pencil and a caprisun straw-slightly bigger though.
DH has two tattoos as well. A peace sign and a raven on his back. He used to have his ears gauged to a 0 that's pretty big if you aren't familiar with sizes. And he had one cartilage piercing. He hasn't worn anything in them for close to 4 years though so they are all closed up.
No tattoos- I haven't been able to think of something I want forever on my body as of yet.

IT'S A BOY
I have the ever popular tramp stamp - just a black swirly design I picked off the wall. Sigh. 18 year olds.
But I do have an arrow I love on my inner left bicep. Really glad I made the decision to get it this summer before I got pregnant.
I have 6 tattoos. Heart with eagle wings on the back of my neck, a small ball python behind my right ear (I have reptiles as pets, yes I know I'm weird), a human heart with nautical compass on my left hip, a pirate ship on the outside upper right arm, and my two pride and joys: Sailor Jerry classic Snake Charmer girl on my right bicep, and an owl with key on my left bicep.
Can't wait for more. Next one up is a moon that matches the sun my bestie is getting.
I have a piercing in each earlobe and my tragus done.
I have 10 tattoos and will be adding more after this pregnancy. A star on my right ankle, a star in the 'tramp stamp' area, "la bella vita" on the back on my right lower hip, mine and my husbands birthdays in roman numerals on my ribs, song lyrics on ribs, "live without regret" in german on the top of my shoulder, a large colored rose on the inside of my left bicep, my grandmothers portrait on my left forearm, "inhale the future, exhale the past" on the outside of my left forearm and last but not least, roman numerals on my left wrist of the day DH and I were married. While DH was deployed this year, he surprised me with a matching tattoo. I think after almost 10 years of marriage he realized we were both in it for the long haul.
Piercings..... I have had a few. I had my tongue and belly button pierced at a very sketchy place with a crowd I should not have been hanging around. I lost the tongue ring when I was 17. I went to a very strict all girl Catholic school and when they found out about it they basically forced me to remove it and checked my mouth every day. It was insane and probably a total violation of my rights as a person but whatever. They had a uniform code and I violated it.
I have my ears pierced now, used to have them double pierced and my cartlidge done when that was a thing.... Now just regular pierced.
I guess I am "boring" lol. I dress up in other ways, and I am always changing my look so the tattoo would have to be a magic one that I could change design and position at any given time lol. I don't think they have invented those quite yet.
I've got 3 tattoos and was preparing for another one right around the time I found out I was pregnant. I know one of my first to-do's after baby.
I've always admired people with tattoos and piercings but I can never commit to anything. I'm afraid I won't like it once it's done.
I will admit that with my own kid on the way now, I've ALWAYS loved this mother and child tattoo a friend has on her shoulder. I would not mind getting that or something similar sometime after baby is here. This idea has been brewing for a few years now though.
Edited- words are hard, so are coherent thoughts. I definitely admire the ability to not take a hundred years to decide on a way to commemorate a part of ones life.
