It annoys me when people teach their children that "hate" and "stupid" are bad words that should never be said. Yes, these words can be hurtful, but so many other words out there are as well. It all depends on context. There's no reason to freak out and get butthurt because little Johnny said "I hate these stupid boots!"

I don't think hate and stupid are bad words, but I do feel that hate is a very strong word that is often overly used. And I think that stupid is too often used when you really mean a different word/meaning. Are the boots REALLY stupid? Or is there something about them that is complicated/doesn't make sense/annoying/etc.

I am annoyed by people who refuse to check their suitcases especially on flights where it is free. The overhead bins were meant for carry on luggage not suitcases, but because of you I have to find room for my appropriately sized carry on BAG (not suitcase) near my already cramped feet. Is it really that inconvenient to check luggage?
Parents who teach their kids that hate and stupid are bad words are sanctimonious assholes who have no clue what their in for when their kids get older. And I don't know what bacon tastes like but it smells awful. People fetishize that shit. I don't love anything the way people love bacon.

I agree, it's just that when children use these words it's often because the have a limited vocabulary and they're too young to understand the deeper meanings. I don't think it's a big deal at all if little kids use them to express themselves (excluding of course statements like "I hate Johnny- he's stupid!)

DH does that. The boots or whatever are not out to get you. They are inanimate objects.
I couldn't honestly tell you what Adam Levine looks or sounds like....
I think ugly sweater parties are sort of weird and uncomfortable. I hosted a holiday party for my group and some wanted to do that for the babies, so I put it as *optional* on the invite and then just dressed my child normally.

Candycanes are peppermint flavored and red and white striped only. This is apparently a UO judging by the walmart candy-cane selection. Fruit flavored and chocolate-mint? Hell to the no.
The styrofoam that lines the britax seats is brittle and sometimes cracks into 2-3 large pieces. If you call britax about it they will tell you to tape it back together. Some mom on facebook posted a tirade about it and it is blowing up.
Mama to a little girl born July 2011 and a little boy born April 2014!
@talltrees82 I was just around a kid and his mom and said the word "barf" (we were discussing how they just went through a massive episode of stomach flu in their house). The kid then also said the word barf. He got snapped at by his mom saying it was inappropriate and he needs to use the word "vomit". I was sitting their dumbfounded...like, sorry, didn't mean to be a horrible influence on your child!
:-O
That's crazy! She shouldn't be using the word if she doesn't want him to use it. Talk about mixed messages over a harmless word!

In my defense, I thought that was her car seat. If I knew it had been an overshared article cycling around on Facebook, I would've looked into it (like when my cousin's wife shared some outdated article about Hyland's teething tablets. Thank you, snopes!). I just thought, "Whoa, that doesn't look good/safe!"

Oh no I was the one who said it, not his mom! She then yelled at him for saying it after I did. I'm going to hell for saying barf.
Whoops! Misread your comment. But still, it's not like you dropped an f-bomb. He would have picked up the word barf from another kid. The mom should be proud of his expanded vocabulary, ha ha!

Whose status are we discussing it on? I can't remember their bump name, lol.
I don't let DD say hate or stupid. I don't freak out about it I just help her rephrase what she is saying. I just don't think it's appropriate for children to talk like that. Barf has never come up but I don't love that word either. It's how I was brought up so there's that too. I have turned into my mother that's for sure.
I don't get the mustache craze either. Beards don't bother me I just don't like when my boyfriend has one.
I think barf is an easier word for kids when they are little. My two year old has said Mommy I barfed - I don't think she could pronounce vomitted as easily....
