@Dorothygale01 feeling like a motherhood should be celebrated and that people should be happy is NOT the same thing as entitlement. I am a positive person.

What sense is it to tell someone they do not deserve happiness in their life because that is entitlement. You sound like a bitter old woman who needs to knock it off.

@sccr2011 I never said she wasnt. But telling me to knock off feeling like its okay for woman to want a perfect shower is not really an awesome comment.

Oh my goodness ladies. This has gotten totally out of control. All OP wanted was some suggestions on what theme to have for her shower, not a bunch of feedback about why it's fine/not fine to throw her own shower. She didn't ask for our advice, she just wants themes. I'm sure there is a good reason her friends didn't offer, so it's fine that she is doing it herself. Good for her! Take matters into her own hands!

@Paleomama here are a few themes I thought of for a baby girl shower:

- Ballerina

- Frozen

- Princesses

- Those cute owls that are everywhere right now

- Butterflies

- Or just a cute pink/gray or pink/brown theme

I'm sorry all these ladies have their panties in a wad today and can't just give you a straight answer.

Actually, I didn't know that she meant it's "okay to want a perfect shower" when she said showers are deserved. There was no way for me to know that until she later clarified her thoughts as her language choice was poor in representing her ideas, though I suspect her choice of "deserves" actually DOES reflect her ideas and that she thinks getting knocked up makes you super special and deserving of privileges. There is always room for lessons in communication. Language and reason is what separates us from the other mammals.

There is no reason to make it seem like you are so superior to her though.

@erobbins09, just so you know, my father is an English teacher and I have above average grammar skills. I just meant that a blog like this is not typically somewhere I feel like I have to focus on proper writing skills and sentence structure.

I do sorta think that throwing your own shower is lame, but OP is just looking for ideas for themes, not for our opinion on her shower itself.

Exactly @Paleomama. I do totally get it. You need to do whatever it takes to take care of your baby and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. You make the rules for your shower and they can all butt out.

In order to seem in a certain way based on one's words, "sounding like" is the appropriate way to describe how that would happen.

If I seem superior, in your opinion, that must mean that it is because my words made me SOUND superior. In this case, the technical right verb would have been "reads" superior, but typically readers make sound associations as they decode words mentally!

As for the ducks, they're a metaphor.

Let me know if you want a lesson on metaphors and figurative language! I would be HAPPY to oblidge!

I don't need your lessons, thanks. I went to private school AND college AND my dad teaches English. I'm good.

Maybe you should take a break from the grammar and work on your reading comprehension skills. I didn't say that you SOUND superior. And I don't know what ducks have to do with this.

In order to seem in a certain way based on one's words, "sounding like" is the appropriate way to describe how that would happen.

If I seem superior, in your opinion, that must mean that it is because my words made me SOUND superior. In this case, the technical right verb would have been "reads" superior, but typically readers make sound associations as they decode words mentally!

As for the ducks, they're a metaphor.

Let me know if you want a lesson on metaphors and figurative language! I would be HAPPY to oblidge!

To throw a grammar lesson back at you, using "I'm good" is acceptable in certain instances like this one because "good" in this instance is used as an adjective meaning "having moral excellence or admirableness".

Still here. Had to make lunch. All this party planning made me hungry. It is a toss up between frozen and princesses. Frozen is really in right now but if I do princesses I can really go all out with a pink theme and what girl doesn't love pink.
