Preggie pops

Hi!! I've been lurking on the board for a while. I'm due 7/24. My first appointment isn't until dec 15 and even then it's only a paperwork and bloodwork appt who knows when I'll get an ultrasound (military healthcare sucks) anyway. My question is, what are your thoughts on Preggie pops/drops. Do they work? Thanks!

P.s. I read that somewhere there was a thread on all the acronyms used. What's the title of that thread? I'm stumped on Fx and Pgal... I appreciate the help!

Re: Preggie pops

  • I used them with my first pregnancy. I've been using jolly ranchers this time around and I don't notice a difference other than price. Lemonheads also work, they just don't last as long.

  • I tried the preggie pops and they only worked while sucking on them. Nausea quickly returned afterwords. And where they're sour they made a sore spot on the roof of my mouth.
I switched to peppermints. They helped a lot.

I would try them though, everyone is different.
  • +1 to Peppermints, very cheap and help me keep the nausea at bay. I typically rely on them when I'm nauseous and I'm unable to eat at that exact moment (ie waiting to grab some food or make dinner or something). They work for me temporarily :) good luck!

  • I get the ones with B6 in them and they do help me. I only use them when I feel really yucky or after I have vomited to help settle things down since they are a bit pricey to me.
  • I think they cause me to feel sick to my stomach, but it's hard to know. I guess I got a deal buy one get one fifty percent off at mother hood maternity store. I defiantly had the burps after sucking on them,?
  • I liked them for my first pregnancy. I need to get some more and I am also going to try Jolly Ranchers.
  • Thanks yall for the replies. I bought some earlier. I've only had two, I can't tell a difference yet. I'll try the jolly rancher and peppermint suggestions too!
  • I bought some hard ginger candies and same thing, they work while I'm sucking on them but not afterward. Once they run out I'm going to switch to something cheaper (and yummier).

  • I have been using peppermints, ginger candies, and Preggy pop drops. I agree with the above posts it helps while I'm sucking on it but doesn't last much longer. They are totally delicious though! I'm a big fan of saltine right away in the morning before anything else.
  • I had it bad with my first. Preggie Pops didn't help me.  Chewing on a thin slice of raw ginger did.  Sounds gross but it worked for me.  Good luck, m/s is the pits.
  • Preggie pops are a TOTAL ripoff!! Don't buy in like I did. Any sour candy will do the trick, that's exactly what they are :) I wish I listened to others before I bought them, but oh well, ya live and learn.

  • I tried them last pregnancy and to be honest the only thing that kept me alive was the zofran prescription for nausea. I'd also like to say I sympathize with the Navy hospital irritation, my "paperwork appt" was this Monday, and I won't get my first ultrasound until January 5th at 11 weeks. I was so disappointed, but expected it with the holidays. Hopefully they can get you in sooner!
  • @Xandrakeller‌ and @leslovesasailor‌, military insurance is actually amazing when it comes to maternity care. So you may might not get an u/s until later on, that hardly qualifies as healthcare sucking. Tricare coves maternity 100% on both prime and standard, and you pay a minimal hospital fee. I had an emergency c/s with DS and he spent 5 days in the NICU, and my hospital bill was not even $65 on standard. Many insurance companies don't cover any dating u/s, and standard maternity care is only 1-2 throughout the pregnancy unless issues arise. If you still don't believe me and want to say it sucks, just wait til the inevitable threads about what people will be paying OOP for their hospital stays and you'll see amounts in the thousands. A delayed u/s is an incredibly small price to pay for that.

  • @Beachy730‌ I delivered my daughter in a brand spanking new military hospital, had excellent free care during and after my pregnancy. I've also had a child at a civilian hospital, under civilian insurance. I've paid the bills, THOSE sucked. I simply said I sypathize with the wait time irritation, the holidays are a busy time. If it was implied that I am somehow ungrateful for Tricares coverage or saying it "sucks", I wasn't. My husbands been in 11 years, I've seen the good and the bad Tricare has to offer, and the good greatly outweighs the annoyances that sometimes occur.

Yeah it was more the OP's comment that "military healthcare sucks." I saw you had a couple kids already so I figured you had some experience with it already. It just struck a nerve overall because a lot of times I feel like people complain about tricare just because it's military, but for maternity it's pretty kick ass.

  • I use the ones with b6 in them. They work for me. I like them better than the regular ones but that's mostly because they're raspberry lemonade flavored. I get them on amazon. You can do a subcribe and save thing on there to get a little discount.
