When I like people, I'm full of subtleties. Like making polls about how they're just the worst ever, etc.

    And ignoring their PMs.

Are those the ones where they're crushed Oreos mixed with cream cheese?  Because those are amazeballs.
  • Stoney, YES! They're so good!!! And basically the easiest thing ever. I usually make normal ones and golden ones when we go places so I look fancy ;)

  • - One package of cream cheese (like in a block...)
    - One package of oreos (not double stuff or you get a wonky ratio)
    - Throw them all in a food processor until you end up with the most delicious stuff ever (or mash the cookies and then mix with the cream cheese)
    - Roll into balls, then cover in chocolate (I use candy melts or almond bark)

I find it easier to put the balls in the refridgerator before trying to cover them :)

Growing up my mom always made white chocolate cherry cookies, lemon bars, pumpkin bars, mincemeat bars, and these coconut chewy bars with chocolate chips. Neither DH nor my SS like any of those cookies, so I make the white chocolate cherry cookies, sugar cookies, chocolate crinkle cookies, and peanut butter cookies with a Hershey's kiss in the center. The sugar cookies are the best, and definitely SS's favorite.

I'd really like to learn to make candy. Mom also made fudge, divinity, and peanut brittle when I was a kid, but I've never tried to make any of it.
  • Someday, I am going to make these:

  • I avoid oreos because they have soy.  Assholes.

  • Oreos are only good dipped in milk or crushed on ice cream. Neither of which I can have. Stupid.

TJ, can you come to my family's Christmas dinner and sit in the corner with me eating celery, hoarding our babies and giving stinkeye to everyone else who gets to eat the good food? My disclaimer is there will be no snow, and it will likely be sunny enough for a walk on the beach ;)

Do you live down the road from me?

And eff all that noise... we will make our own freaking delicious allergen-free food and give people the stinkeye just for fun.

SAK, as soon as @decafgrandmocha tells us where she lives, I'll add it to the spreadsheet and send you an invite.  From her basement, naturally.

Your idea makes much more sense than just eating celery :)

ETA we're no longer right on the beach but close enough!

Well that's not near me at all.  Although if you would just send the physical address I could confirm that.
Just FYI it's way easier to get folks physical address if you sell them things. Just sayin ;)

I was waiting for someone to say that since I bought a lot last month LOL.

@mapleme Please update the spreadsheet.  And send me the link to buy lactation granola.  Thanks!

    Thanks.

    Feeling super grateful apparently.

  • Back to catfish? I swear I'm not the catfish, just really curious about who it could be. Someone on A14 just announced they are preg with their next. Only one person [verbally] thought it was MUD.
It happens.  We had a couple people on my BMB who were pregnant again within months.
  • BTW, speaking of cookies.  For my MSPI peeps who like coconut, try these:

Sub dairy free margarine for the butter, cream of coconut for the condensed milk and use MSPI safe choc chips on the top.  Bam!  They're like candy bars.  It makes a lot, so if it's just for your family, you probably want to make a 1/2 batch.

Even though I'm guilty of going off-subject, I like how you brought it back to cookies. Extra creepy internet hug for the MSPI subs!

Well I'll be… I've been looking for a sub for condensed milk in recipes for six years.
It works really well in this recipe and probably most recipes.  I would say it has about the same texture and sweetness.  It has a strong coconut taste, though.
  • I wonder how this would work with coconut oil and oat flour?  I haven't found a good butter substitute that is both dairy and soy free, that I feel okay with consuming.

I've never worked with oat flour, but I think coconut oil would be totally fine.  It's basically a sweetened pie crust at the bottom.

I'm betting I could use it in seven layer cookies though. And just leave out the butterscotch chips since I don't have an MSPI version of those. All the cookies will be mine this year!

Are you open to sharing your seven layer recipe?

I linked one that's pretty similar back earlier in the thread. I'll have to dig through my cupboard to find the actual one I use. It's pretty close to the linked one though

Oops, sorry. I've lost track of what's in each thread anymore. I wish mobile bump had a way of recording what I loved and where I commented LOL. No need to dig through your cupboard...unless it's part of the chaos control challenge I've conveniently been ignoring.
