I was 16! I was a competitive gymnast, so I was VERY active. I had a delayed period b/c of it. I was jealous of the girls that had started way before me, but now I'm glad I didn't have to deal with it that young.

I was 12, it was my sister's 21st birthday (that's right we are 9 years apart) and my mom and I were shopping for a present for my sister. I used the bathroom at Annie Sez, and noticed the blood. I told my mother she told me all she had was a tampon and took me home. At home my family was all in the kitchen doing something I don't remember what, my mother walks through the door and tells the whole family that I got my period. My sister was PISSED! To this day she never forgave me for stealing her thunder, about turning 21. Fast forward a few hours, we are out to dinner to celebrate her birthday my sister starts to announces it to her then boyfriend now husband and he gets loud and obnoxious where the whole restaurant could hear about the bleeding, cramps and how I was being a "bitch for weeks" and this explains it. Needless to say, when ever I had a problem from that day forward I handled it on my own and told no one.
