Nursery set up help please!

I am trying to figure out how I want the nursery set up.  We have relatives who will be here next week and need to use their manpower to move everything out of the room and the baby furniture in. I know that without measurements you can't really tell 100% what will fit, but if you could give me your eyeballed ideas that would be awesome!

We need to fit - 2 Cribs (1 of which I still need to go buy), Lazyboy type chair, small side table (or possibly a mini fridge to have next to the chair for bottles), dresser/changing table (this is as long as a crib if that helps you visualize better), and small trash can.

Thank you for any and all insight!

This episode makes me damn near pee my pants every time!!! LOVE IT!
  • I would put the chair and table in the corned with the angled wall, the dresser along the closet wall and the cribs in the other corner at 90 degrees to each other. Agree with the graph paper. Then use painters tape to outline each piece on the floor in the room to really see walking space, etc.

2 cribs on the left long wall, dresser on the right wall, lazy boy and side table by the window.

Your room is very similar to ours and this is what we ended up doing and it works.
  • The size of the room and the amount of furniture you are putting in there will definitely limit your options. Here's my best attempts with guessing at the size of the furniture, including one like @janda426 suggested.  Good luck!

Thank you so much for these visuals!  Even if they aren't to scale it's still very helpful.  I'm thinking between 1 and 3.

  • Use graph paper to cut out a scaled down floor plan plus each item of furniture. Then you can move around the "furniture" in the "room" through a few configurations to see what might work best.
For some reason I never thought of graph paper!  I thought about painters tape but the room is full of furniture and won't be emptied until just as the babies stuff is being moved in.  I think I might even have some graph paper.  Thanks

  • I would try the cribs in the bottom left corner (one on each wall), chair in the top left corner, and dresser on the far right wall. Good luck!

I thought about a crib on the bottom wall too but then it would be close to being in front of the window and thought that wasn't the best for safety reasons.

Depending on the size, if it's pushed in the corner it may not be a problem.

We had our twins nursery set up like the third option ^^^^ because we had no other choice. It was not terrible, but the chair always felt like it was in the middle of the room. Could you do a glider instead of a lazy boy recliner?
I would love to do a glider, but we already have the lazy boy and can't afford to replace something we already have :-(  So big bulky chair it is.

  • Yea, I wouldn't put the crib near a window either. Especially if you have things around it that the baby can grab (curtains, blind cords, etc.) I would also be aware of where the outlets are, and where you plan to plug things in. My daughter would grab the baby monitor plug that was close to her crib and yank it out. She was such a pain! I would wake up hearing random peoples voices, and other babies crying. Creeped me the fuck out. lol
