Ugh sorry everyone's dealing with sickness and sick coworkers. Happy v-day @Darbie914‌! Good luck on GTTS this week!

Oh man I just received in the mail nursing bras which I was inspired to order by a TB thread several months ago - THANK YOU @JCWhitey‌ for recommending it. I'd never heard of the Genie before, but it is magic for me. No obnoxious boning sticking me (I'm talking taking to you, Target bras) or nursing clasp awkwardly coming undone in social settings. My boobs are sighing with relief.

Was there a thread on nursing bras?  I'm trying to find some good ones and the ones I'm finding say they fit best for cup sizes A-B, which isn't going to work.  I think it was the Coobie bra.

    @Darbie914‌ It was a boob catch-all thread about BF'ing: https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/12427384/bf-mommies-need-advice/p1

  • Good morning!

@peeppeeppeep Sorry you aren't feeling well :( I'm with you on the Tylenol sucks. Hope you feel better soon!

@JM0848 I hear that at least once a day from someone at work...I'm like, are you a doctor? Can you diagnose preterm labor simply by the way I look? Drives me nuts.

I've been pretty MIA the last few days...we've been trying to get a lot done before we go back to Ohio for Christmas (ugh). I am so not looking forward to the eleven hour drive again...my back hurt so much when we did it a few weeks ago and I wasn't even having the back pain then that I am now. I am so glad we aren't making another trip until next summer.

RJ freaked me out yesterday...I've been feeling her move consistently since 19 weeks at the exact same times every day. She is normally practicing her ninja moves at 5:00 am after I wake up, and yesterday she was completely quiet. I know that's totally normal but of course I'm a total worrier so I worried about it until she finally started moving around 7:30. Apparently she decided she wanted to sleep in. She made up for it by kicking me most of the night last night, which she never does.

This yesterday exactly!!! She was so quiet alllllll day barely a move at all. And I've also felt her the same way every day starting at 19 wk!! I worried to the point that I went to see the ob nurse, she doppled her and put me at ease. Today one of my sweet coworkers brought me her doppler!! So excited. Haven't felt the need at all to get one but now if she has more quiet days I have one to check on her. Glad your little one picked up for you!
  • Hi again all,

I'm so sorry so many others and their kids and pets are sick, too.  So not fun.  Usually I just drug myself up into a stupor.  I'm really starting to feel this one in my chest with coughing - and I never get chest colds.  I did take some Sudafed, but sometimes that just makes me all dried out and causes pain of its own, so I'm trying not to take much of it.  I've got my 24 week appointment today (it's 10 days late, but I had to reschedule when my doctor was out on a delivery) so I'll see what she thinks.

I usually nanny on Wednesdays, but this week luckily I wasn't scheduled.  When I have a cold, I make it a point to call and give the parents the option of whether or not they still want me to come. Generally, they do, sometimes because they are in a bind and they don't have a choice, but often it's because I caught the plague from their kids, so they aren't worried about them catching it.  However, these LOs weren't sick when I was with them Monday and I really hope they don't catch this from me.

Anyway, I was lucky enough to have the day off, and I was supposed to get a pedicure, but I canceled.  I just feel too gross and I figured I need the rest more than the pretty toes.  (Though if you saw my feet right now, you might beg to differ.)  I will teach tomorrow regardless of how I'm doing because it's our last class of the semester.

@saltyfins - so sorry you have to deal with that shit.
@almeyer2013 - sorry you have to be at work when you feel so crummy.
@skrittens - feel better!  Glad you got to go home.
@peledreamsofrain - congrats on the booty do!
@pearsforpoops - yea for sleeping through the night!
    @Darbie914 - V-day!!!

  • Speaking of names, we went to our first labor and delivery class last night. The instructor had us introduce ourselves, tell how far along we were and say any declared name. I made a list for y'all. These are pretty much all February - April babies:

    Nolan
    Charlotte Rose
    Ava Noelle
    Jack or Audrey (team green)
    Emma
Emma Lee (they were very clear it was two names)
Kaden (parents were Kyle and Kayla or similar and mentioned they would use their initial)
Oh, and a the IV, but I didn't catch dad's name.
  • @cabauer9 That video is hilarious!

@jcar2 I am right there with you on freaking out about Christmas. I still have a lot of stuff to buy and so little time. Plus our first installment on my OB bill is due at my next appt. which is 2 days before Christmas.

@saltyfins Sounds like you need a do-over of today!

@lawsonellis Fx for a good appt. and no more bed rest!
  • @kcbizme‌ so glad to hear your hospital tourwent so well! I keep forgetting to set mine up, but ive heard my hospital does a romance package for mom and dad. Haha im super curious!
  • @goofygoff‌ GL with your appt! Fx that you won't have to go on meds!!!
  • @ruemorgan & @Darbie914 I was just blown away! I'm really excited about it! And she actually answered a lot of the questions I wrote down in her presentation. I only had to ask about half of them.
  • Happy Troll Awareness Day!

@peledreamsofrain I have to keep a snack next to my bed for the middle of the night munchies.  I can't believe how strong the hunger is and the fact that it wakes me up at 3am fairly consistently

@saltyfins Don't let this B win.  She most likely acts like that to get a reaction.  Don't let her get to you!  Hugs!

AFM We have round 2 of decorating the tree tonight.  We just moved to a grown up house this year so we sorely underestimated how many lights we would need for a tree.  So we didn't decorate anything, but we did open all the ornaments so it would be easier tonight and it was fun remembering where we got all of them from.

Hope all the sickies start to feel better soon!

    But it's OK. Because:

  • @babys2014‌ My midwife at my 28 week appointment said she wanted at least one hour every 24 hours with 10 or more movements and then just noting that random movement is still occurring throughout the rest of the day.

I'm sorry so many are sick. Hope you ladies feel better soon!

Good luck to everyone taking their glucose tests or awaiting the results! Hope everyone has good appointments today as well!

Afm, I just got home from a 2 hour dental appointment, not my idea of a fun day, but at least that is over with for another month until I have to go back for a couple fillings.

  • I hope all you sickies feel better soon! It's never fun to be sick, especially during the holidays and especially while pregnant!

My parents will be here in 2 weeks! I'm so excited to see my momma! This also means I have to figure out how to do Christmas decorations in our tiny little apartment.
  • @coozieinmypurse, I actually like a lot of those names! Most of them are really traditional.

After my glucose test and rhogam shot (which hurt like hell), I got the BIGGEST breakfast burrito and large coffee from Starbucks. Then I proceeded to eat 2 very large chocolate chip cookies. No shame. I may not eat the rest of the day, or at the very least, until dinner time.

  • That is crazy that so many people had quiet babies yesterday...M'15 baby hive mind! They just like to freak us out ;)

@Darbie914‌ I always love getting gift cards or something cute that the kids made. Or even some candy. Anything really is always sweet to me when it comes from my kids!

Agree! There was nothing too crazy. Lots of popular names, but I really like Audrey and Nolan. Of course, the parents only said them out loud and I used traditional spellings to tell y'all about them, so who knows what the actual spellings will end up being!

I just got on for the first time today and was like "Why am I being tagged in a trolling thread!  I'm real, I swears!!!".  :P

Genie Bras = LOVE!  I rock one 24/7.  I accidentally bought a size too big once and found those work great as night time bras (which you may need once your milk comes in... having no nighttime support was so uncomfortable!).  And learn from my experience- nothing beats the original!  I tried knock-off Ahh Bras and they don't compare at all.  I'm still amazed how much support I get from Genie Bras.

  • @saltyfins Your coworker sounds like a peach and I'm sorry you have to deal with her being so sick.
Sorry for all the others who are sick as well.

I've been having random bouts of dizziness which might be related to being anemic. I have to start taking iron consistently but I'm afraid I'll get constipated.

FWP, I really want Taco Bell for lunch and the one near my job is closed for repairs so now I have to think of something else to eat. Wah!

  • @Darbie914 - how about chocolates?  With a homemade card?  Maybe not the most creative gift in the world, but who doesn't appreciate candy?  :)

I wonder if my employers at my nanny job will give me candy…maybe as a hint to quit helping myself to theirs...
  • @colleen4019 - I hope your GTT went well. I ended up being there for 3 1/2 hours because after they did my baseline blood it took them AN HOUR to bring me the drink. The person who checked me in was like, 'oh yeah, (blood) 15 minutes to get you the drink, then an hour (blood) and another hour (blood).'

I got there when they opened at 6am, had the blood draw at 6:15am, and they brought me the drink at 7:20am. That's just someone being really lazy.

I finally left to head to work at 9:30am. At that point the baby was like, 'Umm...could you send some food down here? Getting pretty hungry. Thx.'

  • Add me to the list of sick mama's :( I haven't gotten anything done today except put dinner in the crock pot. I am now snuggling in bed with my kitten watching the little mermaid. I feel like poop..
  • I'm adding myself to the sick M15 gang :/ idk if it's a cold or just pregnancy congestion but I went home early Tuesday from work because I felt like death!
I've been taking sudafed and robitussin for the cough, it helps the symptoms but I don't feel like I'm better yet.
Tho I started using a warm most humidifier and that has really helped break up the congestion. I'm just hoping I don't end up with bronchitis or a sinus infecion.

Sending happy and healthy vibes to all the other sick M15 mommas!

Good morning, my beautiful M15 ladies! Let's have a moment of silence for our beloved banned trolls. *********** I especially miss our baby daddy crazy. She was a keeper.

I have wanted to call in sick every single day this week. Not because I'm sick, but because I'm exhausted. My shoulders hurt from sleeping on my side and my stomach feels all bloated and stretchy. I just want to sleep and not move for about 24 hours.
I 2nd both of these paragraphs. In regards to the sleeping...last night i finally slept well and woking up NOT hurting like crazy. My secret??? made my husband switch sides with me and it honestly made a world of difference

So I'm starting to put together ideas for our daycare teacher gifts and I'm at a loss.  For those of you that teach, what gifts did you most appreciate?  Originally, we were thinking bottles of wine but weren't sure if each person drank, what they preferred, and it was too costly.  I just really want our gift to represent how thankful we are that they take such good care of DD for us and we appreciate all of their hard work.

    Any ideas?
When I worked at a school, I was always super happy to get gift cards. I know that does not seem fun and exciting but you could put one in a little gift basket with something small as well. I think wine is a great gift but it is true that you never know what someone's preference is with wine or maybe they are not a drinker. I got a lot of Target and Starbucks gift cards which I loveeeeeed. I also liked getting giftcards to places like Panera and McAlisters because a lunch there is a little pricey ($10) and sometimes an indulgence but giftcards make it guilt free! It is not like a daycare teacher makes that much, ya know?

I also want to add that the day care company I work for considers wine an inappropriate gift and is to be returned to the family immediately. Ofcourse thats up to the manager, but it could easily be a gift spoiled.

And my favorites have always been gift cards for the grocery store or target. If I get one more Starbucks gift card, I might pull my hair out. Dont get me wrong, starbucks is lovely, but when EVERY parents gifts you starbucks, it gets old. Its so over done.
  • @lawsonellis, I'm so glad that bed rest seemed to have helped! And also...that poor baby is going to have a complex if she already thinks people are fat. Poor kid is going to have a hard time with positive body image when she gets older.

Yeah it was sad a bit because I *felt* bad when she said it but I know she's only repeating the behavior she's seen in her life.

Still it was weird to be made to feel so bad by a baby!!
  • I have an incredibly rude social worker I work with in my hospital unit. She's great at her job, but interpersonally, she's a giant twat!

Today she pissed me off and insulted my work ethic all in the same breath during a conversation that didn't even involve her.

Anyway, this nurse who "isn't pulling my weight." Just helped lift a agitated patient in the air, while you stared from a distance.
