1. (I did ask this in the Tuesday randoms also so sorry if you already read)..what is the best way to get poop stains out of LO clothing?
2. Addy has really bad baby acne, and I feel responsible since she's EBF. I'm assuming there's some correlation between what I'm eating (which is pretty much junk food that I can grab on the go). Is there anything in particular I should be avoiding to help her (ie. no chocolate or caffeine)?
For stains, get them right away. I was Avery's clothes right away and haven't had a stain yet. There is a bar of soap that is a baby stain remover but I can't remember it's name, sorry!!
I *believe* baby acne is actually from hormones in your bm. Nothing you can do about that.
When do you introduce more stimulating and interactive toys and activities? Our playmat is really colorful with lights and sounds and toys, and our bouncy chair has an activity attachment but I haven't wanted to over stimulate him. He is almost 4 weeks, just not sure when to start bringing out that stuff!
TTC since Sept 2011, Unexplained IF Oct 12 - Jan 14: 3 clomid/TI cycles, 2 hysteroscopies, 2 IUIs, 1 BFP (MMC @ 12w), 2 more IUIs Feb 14: Gonal-f + IUI #5 = BFP! (EDD 11/4/14) Baby boy arrived 11/13/14!
I just started using the activity may in the last week- DS is 5.5 weeks. I just use it when he is in one of his alert and playful moods and when he starts to fuss I pick him up- usually 15-20 minutes.
For stains my Aunt gave me a small trash can with a lid and cascade. She recommended to put some water and cascade in the bottom and this way the stains never set/dry so when you do the wash everything comes out without spraying with stain remover. Its worked great so far.
Does tummy time count if they are on your chest someone inclined or do they have to be flat on the floor? When we lay LO on our chests she'll pick her head up and look around, but floor tummy time ends up in her napping.
Ridiculous question: When do you introduce cereal in the bottle? I know we are way to little now but people make comments about it and I think oh crap when do you do that.
Stupid question but... I was one week overdue so technically LO is 3 weeks past 40w. He has been feeding every 1.5 hours... could this be the 3 week growth spurt ... or am I really in for it next week?
Before my milk came in LO never spit up, since it's came in night before last he's spit up 4 times.. All while still on the boob. Am I over feeding? Or is there anything I can do?
I let him eat as long as he wants on one boob, burp, switch to the other, and burp again.

You don't. That's outdated advice. It does not help baby sleep better. It is a choking hazard.
We skip cereal completely. DS's first food at 6 months old was avocado. Cereal isn't a very good food for babies (or anyone really).
@chesneybrynn You can't overfeed a baby on the breast. I don't know how to reduce the spit up though.
I always heard this, but with DS I found I had to "cut him off". Or rather just not try to keep feeding him. When he unlatched and I burped him, I would stop there. If I put him back to the boob, he would take it, then we'd have what DH and I referred to as "the milk fountain", a massive quantity of projectile spit-up.
The baby acne questions is interesting - my LO has it too and we are EFF.
+1 to this.
Looking for a diaper cream recommendation. I've heard about a homemade recipe that's supposed to work wonders? Nothing OTC is helping one of our girls. Her poor bum is breaking my heart!

We luckily haven't had a milk fountain lol but if it comes to that I may have to take your advice
@Singingmama10 the wonder weeks app goes by due date, so yes. Your baby could be doing the 3 week growth spurt at 2 weeks. All of that info is more of a guild line anyway, all babies are different. Some have their growth spurts early, some late.
@smboswell1 Not really. We would put Eveline in the bathroom in her swing and run the shower really hot to make a stream room to help break apart her congestion.
@ClrkKntismyAE and @abbyful thanks, it seemed odd to put a non liquid in a bottle but a very overly advice happy co-worker just keeps pushing it that I wanted to check with a larger population since I'd seen contradictory things on the web.
This is going to sound ridiculous, since I know we all have trouble w/sleeping...but is there a general guideline for how much sleep baby should be getting per day? I track all of DS feedings and sleep and he's barely down for 10 hours/day. I'm a FTM and recall reading they should be sleeping 16 hours/day. I worry I'm not good at putting him to bed or he is overstimulated, etc...I just figured when they're tired, they would show signs of sleepiness. Any input is appreciated!
Edited for clarity
Yeah, 10 hours a day total definitely isn't enough. Check out troublesometots.com I think she has some charts of how much total sleep, night and nap time is normal broken down by age groups.
I found this about bed 'times' on that website. Thanks for her blog it's giving me something to do while this turkey fights his sleep.
Will I break my baby if I start pumping around 2 weeks PP? I know the recommendation is 4 weeks, but I'm struggling with being the only source of food for this guy. BF seems well established.
My supply was well established at our son's 2 week appt., and the ped told me I could go ahead and start pumping. She did recommend that we wait until 3 weeks to offer a bottle, though.
@smboswell1 We are fighting a cold too. I know you aren't near a dr but I took my LO in (because she sounded like a freight train when she slept and it scared the shit out of me) and he basically said that there isn't much you can do but wait it out. Taking them in the bathroom and letting the hot shower run helps a lot. Also we suction out her nose about 100x a day. (I made sure to ask if it hurt to do it so much and he said no). We are using a humidifier too. He also said that letting her sleep in her car seat (elevated) would help with the stuffiness/breathing. Other than that he said to just make sure to keep an eye out for bad signs: purple lips, fever, not eating, inconsolable crying etc. and to call immediately if any of that happened. Good luck girl - I know it is heartbreaking to see your LO feeling so rotten!
3. If you don't use them, what do you use instead (besides thumb sucking)?
4. For an EBF LO, is there a recommended brand or does it not matter?
With DS, I introduced it at 3-4 weeks; we were having trouble with breastfeeding and I wanted to get that established first. With this baby, she had good latch right away, so I introduced the pacifier when she was like 2 days old.
I EBF. I use nipple-like pacifiers: Gumdrop or Avent Soothie.

They had me introduce it in the hospital because LO clustered one day from 2:30pm-7:30-pm. The nurse felt sorry for me and told me to try the Soothie so we did. Which is what we had bought for home. The nurse said she doesn't like giving them out to EBF babies young because of nipple confusion but she said as much as he is feeding there shouldn't be an issue. Now he's 1 week 1 day old and we only use it to soothe him in the car or when I can tell he is done eating and just wants to suck on something.
@MrsC430 Boudreaux's Butt Paste is working great for us.
@jessa1228 We are only planning to use a pacifier at night for the purpose of reducing SIDS. We are trying to start that now, at three weeks. EBF is already well established. We are avoiding pacifier use during the day because 1) we want to be able to calm her without devices we might forget or lose (would hate to be out without a paci when she's dependent on one), 2) we've heard horror stories of weaning off, 3) we think it's often given in place of something they really need (e.g., food, warmth, changing), and 4) we just think it looks pathetic. It's another of those hotly debated things where you need to just do what's right for your baby and your family .

Hmm... according to this chart, yep, we're totally fucked.

For serious? It looks pathetic? Holy sanctimommy. You can't say something like that and then follow it with 'do what's right for your baby and your family'. That's a huge contradiction. Sometimes there are things you keep to yourself or save for FFFC.
Babies also have a need to SUCK. It's a need too. Your whole pacifier statement is driving me crazy. It's extremely judgemental. I give my baby the paci anytime she wants it. Because you know, I'm the type of mom to meet my child's needs. And THAT is some judgement in your direction.
Making a special appearance for this....pacifiers look pathetic??? What lol? How can anyone say something looks pathetic on a BABY??? Its a baby?!! You don't like a pacifier, fine but don't say my kid looks pathetic. Thanks.
Got me all fired up.
Need to go cool my tits. Congrats @Econosaurus !!!! I haven't been on much, but I'm gonna start posting more.

For stains, sunlight! If you have a stubborn stain, get the stain wet and put it outside in the sun to dry. Works great for EBF poop stains.
