Cloth Diapering

Possible to CD still?

So after an awesome 10 days of full time CD, our house's horrible plumbing is having problems again. Our laundry room is fine, but I want to ease the fear of that being the next set of pipes to go by doing less laundry...which means back to part time CD :( I plan to use my AIO and pockets just once a week (cue the sad violin music). For my disposable inserts, I have thirsties/grobaby reusable covers which can go in with 2x/week baby laundry and am in the process of buying flips.

My main question is can something like flannel receiving blankets or FST be used in a cover but wait to be washed 2x/week or am I setting myself up for a different set of issues? TIA!

@farmrsboywife‌, thanks! I have some used prefolds so I will see what happens if they are washed less often. Do you have a favorite brand of disposable inserts?

@Chickypoo2468‌, thanks, I didn't even think about rinsing but will definitely try that! My 12 week old baby is EBF, and I'm in denial that she'll need to eat solids someday which requires spraying or dunk/swishing the CD LOL.

  • I'd rinse all diapers and get as much liquid out of them as possible.

And watch for mold, that would be my only fear.  I've definately gone 3 days without issues.  I just make sure to use a warm prewash and a hot wash.

@sarenu1‌, I PM'd you back :) Anyway, do you mean I can rinse the AIO and possibly go three days between washes as long as I watch for mold?! I thought chickypoo was referring only to inserts.

    ETA thanks!

I'd use inserts the first 2 days and AIO the day you will wash.

  • Sorry meant 2/3 days use inserts.  Since you will be going 3-4 days for washes.

  • Thanks ladies for all the advice. You all have helped me pull it back together after my meltdown when I discovered the pool of water under the kitchen sink!
  • I went 4-5 days once. I didn't have any issues thank goodness.
