I'm up, LO just peed all over himself so had to change clothes and wash him off, hopefully back to sleep soon. I always get hungry motn and had a protein bar waiting for me but it's a kind that H hasn't bought before and is so gross
TTC since Sept 2011, Unexplained IF Oct 12 - Jan 14: 3 clomid/TI cycles, 2 hysteroscopies, 2 IUIs, 1 BFP (MMC @ 12w), 2 more IUIs Feb 14: Gonal-f + IUI #5 = BFP! (EDD 11/4/14) Baby boy arrived 11/13/14!
Ugh I'm so pissed! I've told DH a hundred times, when LO receives a bottle, I need to pump. I fell asleep at 10 thinking he would wake me up when he gives her bottle, nope he doesn't. Now I'm awake so engorged, pumping after I feed her at 2:30. I know I should be thankful that 1) DH helps out with a feeding and 2) I got some sleep but he is messing with my supply and I'm up longer than I should be. He doesn't help with the MOTN feedings, just the last feeding. If I don't nip this in the butt he'll continue to do it. I really want to go in there to bitch him out but I know that approach won't work.
Talk to me about your swaddle and MOTN diaper changes.
We have used both a SwaddleMe swaddle and a Halo Sleepsack swaddle. DD sleeps in a onesie and sleep n play then the swaddle.
Diaper changes in the SwaddleMe are hard b/c there is loud Velcro that needs to be undone to access the diaper. I was hoping the Halo, as it has a zipper would be easier to change a diaper. Unfortunately, the sleeper zips up from feet to neck and the Halo zips in the opposite direction. Additionally, the wings in the Halo add so much more bulky material to the outfit.
@turtles7 I'm sorry ): I just started pumping tonight and barely got half an ounce so no one has been able to help with feedings for me. It's getting a little draining. I hope your engorgement gets better and you can get some rest!
@rox825 I hope you get back to sleep soon too! That's where I'm headed now.
@turtles7 - That's super annoying. I keep trying to tell my husband (and everyone really) how important it is that I pimp regularly and no one seems to understand!
I haven't been setting an alarm at night bc LO wakes up about every 2.5 hours so I'll feed and change him then do my pump. Well, he decided to sleep for 5 hours tonight. My boobs are huge and hurt too @turtles7 I've only been pumping 5 minutes and righty already gave me 5 ounces. Yeesh!
I am up with my bright eyed cutie. I have a feeling that tomorrow (today) is going to be a long day. DD1 has been having sleep issues and is super clingy. It does not work well with a super tired mommy.

What's your swaddle?
I use the Swaddle Me type as well. In only do MOTN diaper changes when I'm feeding LO, so the loud Velcro doesn't matter as he's already awake. When I take it off I make sure I don't let any of the Velcro stick so that when I put it back on (when he's essentially already asleep) I don't have to unstick it.
Thank you to the person who posted the baby yoga video yesterday! I tried it on Will last night and he immediately had a big poop and then slept for almost 5 hours.
Almost 2 am on the west coast. Baby slept for four hours in her crib for the first stretch of the night. Another one of those after this feeding and I'll be happy.
I wish she ate faster! Or at least I wish a good RMT would do a MOTN house call to massage my shoulders and neck as I nurse...

What's your swaddle?
We swaddle with a blanket. I have one Velcro swaddler, but we rarely use that. I like that in a blanket he can get his arms out if he really wants to. Also we can swaddle arms out depending on his mood.
@flutterbuggie - I have the same issue! I'm about 10 lbs less than pre-pregnancy and my pants just fit weird. I think I might still be a little swollen though? Not sure but I really hope all my pants start to look normal on me again bc I cannot afford a new wardrobe!
I'm up. My boobs hurt so much (and so constantly) that I now totally associate LO's cries with pain and suffering.
Will talk to a lactation consultant today but I honestly don't think I can handle this breastfeeding thing. Oh! And it turns out pumping hurts as much (or worse) so... no relief there.
Finally, I'm showing some signs of postpartum preeclampsia. Going to be very unhappy if that turns out to be a problem. If it is though, that will probably also settle the breastfeeding question. Boooo!
I feel your pain -- literally. Your story echoes mine! Finally saw LC today and it was soooo helpful and the woman was wonderful, I'm so mad at myself for waiting so long. Good luck with your appt! I still don't know if I can EBF for very long, but I'm feeling better about our chances and his last feeding didn't hurt nearly as much as usual.
Fingers crossed you don't develop pp pre-e! I developed it during labor and it took a while for all the symptoms to go away, but every day was a little better than the one before.
Hugs to everyone having a rough night! I broke down after talking to a friend this evening, she was concerned about how I have been feeling. It took her pushing the conversation but I finally admitted to myself (and H later) that I think I have PPD. I knew it was highly probable for me, I was just really hoping I would luck out and avoid it. But doesnt look like it. Seeing my Dr Friday to confirm and get help. Ugh. Looking forward to feeling better, just disappointed that it came to this.
So for one of LOs MOTN feedings he woke up screaming and I was so tired I didn't hear him (or realize what that sound was) for a couple of minutes. I felt so bad! Plus H is leaving today and I'm having a really tough time pulling myself together to nurse or function in anyway. I'm nervous LO will be able to sense what's going on and be fussy today.
DS was a stinker last night. He only fed twice, but after his feeds it would take an hour or so to get him back to sleep. Even though I did it all, DH still complained this AM that DS kept him up all night...really dude...he might wake you up for a second but then you can go right back to sleep.
Alexis refused to go to sleep last night and Levi and Evan kept alternating waking up while I was trying to get her to bed. She took a late nap and was asleep when we got back from taking dh to dr. at 8:30. I tried moving her to her bed, but she woke up. I finally got her to sleep around 2 and fell asleep.
Levi then woke up and i fell asleep in the chair nursing him. DH woke me up and I tried moving Levi back. The whole time I'm trying to get back to sleep DH is moaning and complaining his shoulder is hurting. This freaks me out since we went to the dr yesterday because of his fast heart rate, but the dr said the ekg only showed a rapid heart rate. He said it was his right not his left so I'm a little less concerned. He asked me to get him some icy hot for it, but I couldn't find it, but I did find a patch. He didn't want the patch until 10 minutes later when I almost fell asleep. After placing it on his shoulder both boys decided to wake up. Now I'm up nursing them both. They just fell asleep, but I'm nervous about moving them.
@flutterbuggie my pre-pregnancy clothes all fit very oddly too. I haven't actually weighed myself yet, but I look mostly like I did pre-preg. Unfortunately no one told my hips that. My coats won't do up over my boobs either- that's good for our Canadian winters, eh?
@Becks517 hugs momma. I find that the lack of sleep exacerbates any baby blues (etc.) and makes me feel 10000 times worse. Any chance of a nap today?
@Snuffy007 hugs for you too momma. It's a big deal to be able to admit that you're feeling the way you are and to get help. Even though I knew about baby blues I was shocked when it happened to me. Just know we're here for you too.
@sweetbabyrahe last night we went to BIL's for dinner and DH announced that we had to get home early because he wanted to get to bed early as he hadn't had much sleep lately. SIL just looked at me and grinned.
I'm sitting in Will's room drinking my tea and bumping, waiting for him to wake up. I do not know how you co-sleeping ladies do it, he is the loudest sleeper! I can hear lots of his noises from our room, but sitting here I realize how loud he really is. Kudos ladies!
I watched the news this morning since I am up. There was a shooting last night just a few houses away. There was also a fire a couple blocks over. Our neighborhood was busy last night.
@snuffy007 I am sure it was hard to admit but good for you for being able to. I am sure that is the hardest part. Hopefully the doc will have you feeling back to normal soon.
I use the Halo Sleepsack, but we swaddle DS with his arms out. We had some success without using a swaddle on Monday night, but last night was a disaster, so I swaddled him again.
You guys, I know a lot of you are in the same boat, but how on earth am I supposed to function without having more than 2 1/2 hours of consecutive sleep in the last two weeks? Everyone around me (except for H) sort of laughs it off, but I am legitimately going insane. H is normally fantastic about it and tries to help out, but he is just as sleep-deprived as I am, and he nearly lost his temper last night when DS wouldn't stop crying. H had to be at work at 5 a.m., and DS didn't stop screaming until 1:30 when I got out of bed, swaddled him, and rocked him to sleep in the nursery.
ETA: I see that someone made a post today about the following question, so feel free to disregard! Also, does anyone have any tips for getting a breastfed baby to take a bottle of pumped milk? Our ped said to introduce a bottle between 3-6 weeks, but DS pitched the worst fit I have ever seen. MIL will be watching DS overnight on Sunday night so that H and I can get one night of sleep, but I'm worried that he won't take a bottle and that MIL will call me in the middle of the night so that I can come get him and feed him. What should I do?
Guys, LO self-soothed himself back to sleep this morning! He woke up and started fussing quietly about an hour after eating. Wasn't actually crying so I turned on his white noise machine and he fell asleep again! He pretty much always falls asleep while eating or being held so I've worried about whether that was setting him up to need to be held to fall asleep. Hopefully not!

@KUinCBUS I seriously say this all the time! How in the world do you ALWAYS KNOW!?? I usually end up eating while I'm nursing. Dinner is a little different...its either me holding her at the dining room table while we eat..or DH eats first & then takes her so I can eat. That's not fool proof though, she's usually crying for me to hold her or crying for the boob (even if I just fed her).
My moms at it again. She wants to help me go to LO's appointment which is fine and dandy cause I can't drive or pick anything up over 10 lbs. I ask her to be there at 7:30.. She shows up at 8:15. His appointment is at 9 and I needed to eat and get ready damn it! So I look like shit made her stop at a gas station and get a dough nut.. I'm just frustrated. She's off the next two days and I'm thinking about ignoring her calls/texts.
@bethas@AnnieRoo13@Ashris13@heisenberg Thanks ladies (and any others I missed, I'm sorry!) for the support! It means so much that I can come here and vent and know I will be understood. Don't know what I would do without this board!
@Becks517 and everyone else having a rough time, major creepy internet hugs
Hugs to all those who need them. I've now determined that Love It = way to go!, Hugs, I feel you sister, He's a jerk, you're a great mom, etc.
DD is officially sleeping her in crib, I'm so glad we transitioned so well to the crib. We had to go back to swaddling her with her arms out, to get her into the crib but it works like a champ.
@gldnbearz We use a swadleme with the velcro. We only have to change her when we feed her so the velcro isn't an issue and since we change her before feeding, I just put her back in the swaddle before feeding so the velcro doesn't wake her up when I put her back down.
DD is up 2 lbs from her birth weight and almost a full 2 inches longer. I'm so glad she is doing so well, it makes me feel better about giving up pumping and going to only FF. Will be interesting to see if this growth continues at her 2 month.
I loved how yesterday's randoms turned into Target comparisons (I caught up this morning). I do love that my Super Target has a cafe/Pizza Hut Express, and Starbucks. Makes snacking while shopping so nice.
@KUinCBUS - I hear you about LO and pet knowing how to interrupt your meal. That was us the first 3 weeks home.
Nowadays, I eat breakfast and lunch solo when DH is at work. Hot food is no longer involved soni can walk away at any time. Cold cereal, PBJ sandwiches, dinner rolls, individually packaged string cheese and yogurt.
At dinnertime, I had to convince DH that we need to start/finish eating at different times so someone can manage the baby. We've learned to eat one handed.
OMFG, what is it with my company?! HR just emailed me asking if I was returning Dec 31 or Jan 5. Um, neither! 12 weeks, people! TWELVE!
Before I had baby, my boss kept pressuring me to come back at 6 weeks. Then he told HR I was going to work from home while on FMLA. No and no! I'm taking my full 12 weeks and not doing anything work-related!
@gldnbearz We have all the fancy swaddlers you mentioned but much prefer this.
@IndianaMommy08 I'm in the same boat but started out higher. I've lost 30 of the 55 I gained, but none in the last week. I need to eat better but really don't want to go back to my pre-pregnancy <1000 calories a day bc it's not fun and might compromise my milk supply. So jealous of everyone who has already lost the weight!
LO didn't cry all night! She was still up every few hours but it's so much easier to be patient about spit-up and a wet shirt than crying for no reason. She slept for 12 hours with only 4 wake-ups (one of which was the 90 minute spit-up). Then this morning she was calm and awake this morning long enough for me to read her three books! Woohoo!
Whoever said you can't overfeed a baby while breastfeeding was wrong. I had her feed from both sides at midnight, hoping it would last her longer, and instead she just spit up for the next hour+. Won't try that again.
Re: swaddling I've been using the SwaddleMe SwaddlePod with Miss Eleanor and I love it! She sleeps well and it isn't as restrictive as a regular swaddle. She can still change position and tuck her hands up under her chin (where she likes them) without them getting in front of her mouth and waking her up. The zipper zips up or down, so diapers are super easy without having to unswaddle her arms. The only bummer is that the SwaddlePod only goes to 10lbs, which won't take long. So I have to decide if I want to try the next SwaddleMe, the Velcro one, but I don't love that I'd have to unwrap her all the way. Or I can wean her off the swaddling and hope her tendency to wake herself with her hands/punch the boob out of her mouth/startle has eased. Or I invest in the more expensive Woombie brand which seems identical to the SwaddlePod save for price. Hmmmmm.
Talon has to get his bilirubin checked this afternoon hopefully FI gets off in time so I don't have to call my mom lol He is up 2 oz since we left the hospital, so that is good. And everything else looked good.
Re: SwaddleMe and diaper changes - we do change with the MOTN feeding, when she first wakes. The problem is 1/3 to 1/2 the time, she poops after eating. This causes us to change her and wakes her up from her drowsy state.
On the Target train of thought... I really want to put Christmas presents on my registry and use my leftover friends/family coupon on them. But I won't. I think.
Christmas shopping online is so much less fun
Why not? I totally would! I put a bunch of extra stuff on my registry before using my completion discount.

Maybe this should be a FFFC but we got like $400 worth of gift cards for Target when DD was born. She needs nothing even remotely that expensive as we have all our gear from DS still. We totally used it for Xmas presents and are planning on putting $400 cash in DD's savings account when we get our tax return in Feb. this helped tremendously with not dipping into savings for Xmas as I am on 14wks UNPAID maternity leave

MH does the same thing and it makes me crazy. He has never once had to get out of bed to do anything for DS in the MOTN, but I have to hear about how tired he is every morning.
I am so so so exhausted. I've been feeling really awful this last week, and it's freaking me out. How do I know the difference between complete exhaustion, the baby blues, and PPD? Whatever this is, it's brutal and i just want to come out of it.
Yes. Yes. This. All of this!
Last night the baby finally dozed off around midnight, I thought well enough for a short shower. I open the bathroom door 10-15 minutes later and hear her screaming bloody murder. Did my husband get out of bed to hold/rock/soothe her until I could throw a shirt on? Fuck no! He did, however, get out of bed to go downstairs and fall back asleep on the couch where it was a little quieter. ASS.HOLE. One time. One fucking measly time I'd love a little help here!!! And I know the first thing he'll say when he comes in from work is how he can't do this/ he's so tired/ I shouldn't eat [anything] ... and take a nap with the tv on.
Hugs to all the ladies who need it and throat punches to those DH'S that deserve it.
I am definitely having a baby blues day. Just sort of came out of nowhere. I am usually a Christmas fanatic but this year is tough. I don't think we will be able to do much if anything. I feel guilty for even feeling like this. I just want to stay in bed all day. Between feedings offcourse. Last night I got all dolled up for my parents SOA finale party. It was nice to sort of feel like myself again. When do you start to feel normal again?
