June 2015 Moms

WOOOHOOO!!!!

Had my 12w appt today.  Baby is doing great, heard the HB on Doppler (165) and all is well.

Now for the FANTASTIC news:  My weight loss has stabilized (down 20lbs total since BFP), and the Hyperemesis Gravidarum is much more under control, so my Doc decided to take me off the Zofran pump today!!! I still have to take it orally round the clock, and if the HG gets worse again I'll go back on the pump, but for now, I can be rid of the damn thing!

YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!! Happy Dance!

But really, being rid of that pump is a BIG F'ing DEAL for me.

My heart goes out to those of you continuing to suffer from M/S.  My deepest empathy...  This too shall pass.

FX for you! HG (and M/S in general) sucks. I certainly hope the nausea/vomiting get better soon for you!

TMI - Zofran causes the WORST constipation.  I'm on like 4539806745 stool softeners/laxatives, but being able to poop normally again at some point is what I'm most looking forward to.  Pregnancy is so glamorous.

@maplebaby‌ Great news!! Are you in the US? I've never heard of Zofran being given via pump or continuous sq/iv infusion (and I'm a pharmacist that works with cancer patients every day!) And just wondering if it's a NON-US thing (but looking at your pic... I'm guessing it's a Canada thing)
I'm in the USA (south east).  We conceived in Canada, hence my photo and username :-)

Hmm weird.  I got the pump at 10w after a hospital stay.  My Ketones were like 160 something (super dehydrated).  I got the pump from the hospital and had to go back there every 3 days to have it checked/the injection site inspected.  The pump really sucks, it gave me like this really hard red knot about 2 inches across at the site on my stomach. I saw my doc at the hospital today (she's actually the Chief of Staff of that hosp), so they removed the pump there after my bloodworm came back better.

I'm not sure if I could have done it through my local pharmacy or not, I never had to find out.  It was totally covered by my insurance thankfully (I have BCBS federal). I did a google search and found this, which looks like an ins company requirements for coverage, I think... (not my ins tho).  Not sure if they are in the USA though.  https://www.amerihealthnortheast.com/pdf/provider/resources/clinical/policies/zofran-pumps.pdf

There's some pretty high bars you have to pass to qualify for the pump.  I had 3 in-patient hospital stays before the pump, which allowed me to stay home for the past 2 weeks.  If I can make it to the weekend and stay hydrated, I'm going to feel VERY successful!

    Great news!!!

@asutherl‌ I also know someone (in PA) that had to be placed on a Zofran pump due to HG. YUCK!!

Edited after reading post below me...she (my friend) might have had a PICC line. That looks familiar now that I see it.

  • Hooray!

I haven't had to do a pump, but I've been on a PICC line for like... months on end. It's a giant ass-ache. So I hope you get to stay off of it / eat some food.

  • Glad your feeling a bit better, I never heard of a pump like that before and to be honest it sounds pretty sore at the insertion site. I hope you heal quickly and stay hydrated and pump free. Oh and a big congrats on your healthy heartbeat ;)

I've never had an insulin pump so I'm not entirely sure, but I would imagine it's similar.

Here's a blog someone wrote about their pump. My experience was similar, but I went to the hospital to get my refills instead of having them delivered. Now that I've googled, I'm realizing how lucky I was to only have been on it 2 weeks!

FFR, naive and it has two dots above the i. I believe that is called an umlaut.
